Zombie Project Script

Zombie video games, inspired often by the works of George Romero, Zombie video
games have flourished in the most recent years and I want to know what draws
people into these types of games. There are so many different types of video game
entertainment and each one has at some point incorporated zombies ranging from
classic series Resident Evil to the new age, cinematically beautiful The Last of Us.
These games reach as far back as Zombie Zombie released in 1984 for the ZX
Spectrum, which was a small console for home computing.
The concept of the zombie has recently exploded and swiftly adapted in video
games, ranging from 1996s resident evil stumbling, shambling zombies, to 2008s
Left 4 Dead zombies which have ones that run, explode, screech, and terrorize on a
different level. Late 2008, Zombies went through another shift toward the final
frontier. Dead Space placed Zombies in space, but not only did this extraterrestrial
infection reanimate corpses, but the undead transformed into blood thirsty
abomination that depending on how they took damage, they would change their
way of attacking. This concept was much different then previous games and the
idea of the players impending doom became more and more clear. In 2009
Resident Evil 5 changed up the formula and changed it from magic or a virus to a
parasite. This idea made things a lot more scary because headshot didnt always
work.

I sat down with a few gamer students here at the University of Iowa and I wracked
their brains pun definitely intended.

1. So tell me, what was your first experience with a zombie video game?

2. What is your favorite zombie video game to date?

3. What was your feeling as you were you playing it?

4. Were you partial to the characters or were you more interested in the
zombies and what may jump out next?

5. Comparatively what aspect of the zombie would you say is the most
interesting to you?

6. Are you looking forward to any new zombie releases?

7. With so many zombie titles surfacing recently, What do you think might be
the biggest draw in about zombies in modern society.

Its not too surprising to hear so much appreciation for the resident evil series. The
series was created with George A. Romeros zombies in mind. George A. Romero, is
an American-Canadian director, screenwriter and editor that is best known for his
depiction of the universal shambling, groaning, brain craving, undead monsters we
know today. Romero was hired in 1998 to write a script and direct a live-action
trailer for the 2nd video game in the series. Romero wrote a script for it after having
his assistant play through the game as he watched and took notes. He was the
original person that Sony Pictures and Capcom reached out to when they planned
on creating a film adaptation. It was released later in an interview that Romeros
script was rejected because they believed it altered from the games original intent
and it would alienate newcomers and fans.
