Introduction
1.1 Scope of Document
The purpose of this document is provide the design data for the onshore section of the CO2
pipeline which forms part of Kingsnorth Carbon Capture and Storage Project, Transport
Pipeline and Injection Facilities Project. The document collates all of the design data to be
used and the assumptions to be made in undertaking the design activities.
The limits of the onshore pipeline for this document are shown in Figure 1.1 and are defined
as follows:
Pipeline landfall valve;
Kingsnorth CCS pig launcher.

Assumptions
The following assumptions shall be made:
Pipeline will be required to cater for both gas and dense phase flow;
The CO2 will be dried to better than 100ppmv. However, the specification delivered to the
pipeline will ensure that no free water or hydrate potential will exist in the pipeline or CO2
transport system;
Standard conditions that will govern the design flow rate are assumed as 1.01325bara and
15degC.

Design Requirements
3.1 Design Code
The onshore pipeline shall be designed in accordance with the requirements of PD 8010-1
[M12].
ASME B31.4 [M15] shall be used to supplement PD 8010-1 [M12] for areas not specifically
addressed by the code.
3.2 Design Life
The pipeline system shall have a design life of 40 years.
3.3 Process Data
3.3.1 Product Composition
The compositional data as presented in the Basis of Design for Studies - Phase 1 [S1] shall
apply.
3.3.2 Design and Operating Conditions
The pressure & temperature conditions which shall apply are summarised in Table 3.3.2-a.
