When did Tender Bones starts, tell us about the history...

Living in North Queensland's Townsville, Amy was coaxed away from her solo 'A Gal' project
releasing a split cassette tape single with San Diego's Jeans Wilder to play bass in her brothers
band 'The Broken Needles' (whom have also re-located to Melbourne) until she met Ryan
Humphreys in Brisbane who played solo and with bands such as 'The Lovely Sound', 'Huntingfield'
& 'Screamin' Hands'.
Relocating to Melbourne, Amy and Ryan played as a duo until Craig-Skull (co-founder of
independent alternate post-rock n roll hunks '2 litre DOLBY', colourful Melbourne racing identity
and mascot for Leo and Phil from 2 litre DOLBYs 'The Small Knives') - whilst moonlighting with 2
litre DOLBY's Leif Svennson 's 'North Atlantic Audio Sky Band,' improvisational psychedelicmedieval-po(s)t-kraut rockers 'The Gruntled' and re-constituted fuzz concentrate 'The Electric
Guitars'; jammed with Amy and Ryan for an impromptu 2011 share house party.
The rest is as they say...a cliched history...!...until... bassplayerist - The Broken Needles' guitarist
Matthew Maclean also re-located from Townsville to transform us Tender Bonerheads into a
quartet.
Q: Influences?

Joy Division, Sleater Kinney, Broadcast, Beach House, My Bloody Valentine,

Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, Screamfeeder, Magic Dirt, You Am I, Rowland S.
Howard, Cocteau Twins, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Sonic Youth, The Velvet
Underground and Low amongst other things like respite, rejection,
beguilement, cyclones, blackouts, volcano's active and dormant (includes ash
clouds), intimate disclosures, all things failing (like power or love), sweet relief
and extreme leisure sports.
Q. Made a list of 5 albums of all time
The dumb drummer chose his own band! - 2 litre DOLBY'S 'El Caballo Rojo' (The Red Horse).
'Loveless' by My Bloody Valentine
'Surfer Rosa' by Pixies
'Unknown Pleasures' by Joy Division

Q. How do you fell playing live?

Fell being the operative word! - co-dependent upon the time of how we feel - either like
extraordinarily powerful amateurs or extraordinarily unfashionable and criminally ignored! Prefer
the feeling of being desperately in love!
Q. How do you describe Tender Bones sounds?
As a synthesis of the dumb drummer's affective feeling for dynamics within each song structure; the
nonchalant bassplayerist's melodic bottom end; Amy's ethereal guitar and vocals and the triumph

of Ryan's desperate, urgent rhythms and distinctive baritones; TENDER BONES' generously
pessimistic evocations and cautiously optimistic reverberations culminate into a shoegaze garage
pop rock and roll heaven-hell-hole.
Or:
Portland's I Vacation In Your Hell reviewed TENDER BONES thusly: "Brilliance brewing in the land of the south Melbourne bitches worth your time ... so
infectious ... slow drooling note progressions ... grinds the listener along ... the distant voice ... of
someone who is poetically letting it ride ... raw shoegaze sushi ".
So, raw shoegaze sushi?
Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
- A couple of Tender Bonerheads will have a frame for the other couple of Tender
Bonerheads and then we jam the structure together until there is an agreed consensus.
- Then we play them live for an extended period of time before approaching those people
whom have not only our respect and trust, but also decent portable digital recording
equipment and a willingness to record us!
- Record with a minimum of fanfare, professionalism and the bare necessities of digital
recording equipment within a greenhouse-like warehouse.
- Usually record a live bed of drums, bass and guitars and then overdub vocals, more guitars,
and whatever else takes our fancy.
- Viola!
Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
The Broken Needles, Lowtide, Alpha Beta Fox, Sounds Like Sunset, Power, The Electric Guitars,
Joseph Liddy and the Skeleton Horse, Deep Space Supergroop, Claire Birchall and the Phantom
Hitchhikers, Bonnie Doom, Big Yawn.
Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
We HAVE covered The Broken Needles and Girls prefer own original material ...
Q: Whats the plans for future....
Finish recording our first full-length album.

Die death.
Q: Any parting words?
