INT. MISSION BRIEFING ROOM - DAY

DALE KASH, JUDY WANG, LUKE VELO and WADE RAGGO sit around
the table. Eyes fixed on the blackboard.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 2

Wade Raggo not known for his manners, has his feet on the
table, puffing on a large cigar.

NASA scientists SAM NEVILLE and TIMOTHY BROCK stand

patiently at the front.

BOB BENTLEY, MARK YOUNGS, two company directors from IRON

INC enter.

SAM NEVILLE
OK, Everyone's here. Good. We can
start then.

Timothy Brock steps forward. Glasses slip down his nose.

He knocks them up again.

TIMOTHY BROCK
A few hours ago. We lost contact
with the mining ship
NorthStar.It's was on its way
back from G700...

Bob Bentley posh voice butts in.

BOB BENTLEY
...This is a very precious ship
to us. And to our company. The
Iron Ore cargo is extremely
valuable. It would be of great
use to us, if you could bring it
back home.

SAM NEVILLE
Look, Mr Bentley. I understand
your concerns but we here to find
and rescue the crew. If you want
the ship back. You'll have find
some intergalactic tow truck.

MARK YOUNGS
But...

Bob Bentley raises his hand in front of the protesting

Mark Young to silence him.

BOB BENTLEY
...Very well. The crew's safe
return is also our concern.

Sam Neville removes a stick of chalk from his pocket.

SAM NEVILLE
This is your mission brief.

He scribbles on blackboard as he talks.

SAM NEVILLE
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 3

(continuing)
One. To find out what happened.
Two. Help with any medical injuries.

Sam Neville stops, Glances around. Waves chalk about like

a wand.

SAM NEVILLE
(continuing)
And most importantly...

Sam Neville resumes scribbling.

SAM NEVILLE
(continuing)
...Three. Bring the crew and
yourselves back home safely.

Timothy Brock steps forward. Hands firmly on table. He

stares at Wade Raggo. Glasses slip down again.

Wade Raggo stares back. Blowing cigar smoke in the air.

TIMOTHY BROCK
I know, Wade. That your usually
leader of missions like these.
But I've spoken to the company
directors before hand.

Timothy Brock glances back.

Bob Bentley nods.

TIMOTHY BROCK
(continuing)
And they would prefer someone
with more experience.

Timothy Brock knocks his glass back into place.

The door opens. A pair of shiny boots appear. Then the

rest of the body. It's JAY DALLAS. Dressed smartly.

JAY DALLAS
You called for me? Mr. Brock?

Bob Bentley & Mark Young smirk.

Wade Raggo, Dale Kash, Judy Wang & Luke Velo stare blankly
at Jay Dallas.

WADE RAGGO
I don't fuckin' believe this.

Wade Raggo firmly stamps out cigar on table. Gives Jay

Dallas a cold look.

WADE RAGGO
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 4

I thought you fuckin' retired.

BOB BENTLEY
This is a very delicate mission.
We need someone with proven field
experience.

There is an awkward silence.

Sam Neville glances over to Jay Dallas.

SAM NEVILLE
Have you been briefed?

Jay Dallas nods.

JAY DALLAS
I have indeed.

SAM NEVILLE
Right, get suited up. You leave
in five hours.

Squeaks of chairs. Angry murmurs. As Wade Raggo, Judy Wang,

Dale Kash and Luke Velo exit.

Wade Raggo halts by the door, glancing back.

WADE RAGGO
I hope this doesn't have the same
outcome as your last mission.

Before Jay could reply. Wade Raggo storms out.

Mark Youngs approaches Jay Dallas. Placing an arm on his

broad shoulders. He waits.

Sam Neville, Timothy Brock exit.

Mark Youngs continues.

MARK YOUNGS
We want our ship and cargo back
at ALL costs. Understand?

Jay Dallas nods quietly.

Mark Young gently prods him.

MARK YOUNGS
Your retired. This is the last
mission you'll ever do again. So
do as ordered and there'll be a
large cash bonus in it for you.

Mark Youngs & Bob Bentley calmly leave.

Jay Dallas is left in silence. By himself.

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 5

INT. LOCKER ROOM - DAY

There is silence. Dale Kash, Judy Wang and Luke Velo suit up.

Wade Raggo half dressed. Expresses his anger. Stamping

his foot firmly on the bench.

WADE RAGGO
What the fuck where they thinkin'?

Luke Velo now fully dressed, clutching his helmet in one

hand, placing the other on Wade Raggo.

LUKE VELO
Give him a chance. I'm sure he'll
do a good job.

Judy Wang and Dale Kash are also fully dressed. Clutching
their helmets in one hand.

Judy Wang leans back against the cold metal locker.

JUDY WANG
What happened anyway?

WADE RAGGO
Let's just say his last mission
went right up shit creek.

DALE KASH
There was a fire. He lost some
of his crew. Apparently he found
the guilt too much and
subsequently retired.

Wade Raggo slumps down on the bench.

Judy Wang and Dale Kash exit.

Luke Velo stops by the door.

LUKE VELO
Stop worrying and get dressed.
Your our bloody pilot.

Wade Raggo looks up, with a smirk.

WADE RAGGO
Yeah. I would've been captain, too.

EXT. SHUTTLE LAUNCH PAD - DAY

The bright white shuttle stands proud on the launch pad.

MAINTENANCE CREWS rush around getting things organised.
The sun shines bright. No clouds in sight.

Jay Dallas is watching the shuttle. Clutching his helmet

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 6

in one hand. The other shielding his eyes from the sun.

Luke Velo, Wade Raggo, Judy Wang and Dale Kash join him.
They too, shield their eyes from the sun.

JUDY WANG
What a lovely day it is.

Jay Dallas glances at them.

JAY DALLAS
Yes, it is, isn't it?

WADE RAGGO
I guess it's my duty to introduce
you to MY crew. This lovely lady
is Judy Wang. She's the medical
officer.

Judy Wang smiles.

JUDY WANG
Nice to meet you.

WADE RAGGO
Next we have, Luke Velo.
Engineering officer. There isn't
an engine that he can't fix.

Luke Velo nods.

LUKE VELO
Howdy.

WADE RAGGO
Then we have our computer whiz
kid and all round nerd, Dale Kash.

DALE KASH
Hey! I object to that. I'm just
intellectually stimulated.

Jay Dallas smirks.

JAY DALLAS
And yourself?

WADE RAGGO
I would be Wade Raggo. I'm the
best damn pilot that ever lived.
Usually I'd also serve as captain.

JAY DALLAS
Well, not anymore. I'm in charge
and you'll all do exactly as I
tell you. That way we'll avoid
screw ups.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 7

Jay Dallas strolls off towards the shuttle.

Wade Raggo mutters under his breath

WADE RAGGO
Yeah. You'd certainly be an
expert on screw ups, wouldn't ya?

Luke Velo elbows Wade Raggo.

LUKE VELO
Cut it out, OK?

Luke Velo, Judy Wang and Dale Kash stroll off.

Wade Raggo is left by himself. As a warm breeze blows.

WADE RAGGO
Fucking idiot been here less than
ten minutes and already he's
brainwashed MY crew.

Wade Raggo mumbles before chasing off after them.

INT. MORAY SHUTTLE CABIN - DAY

Jay Dallas sits patiently in his captains chair.

Wade Raggo's finger hover anxiously over the launch button

above him.

Dales Kash next to him sweats nervously. Gripping the seat

tightly.

Luke Velo and Judy Wang sit quietly in their seats behind
Jay Dallas.

DALE KASH
I hate sitting vertical like this.
It makes me feel sick.

Wade Raggo just laughs.

WADE RAGGO
Just hold it in. We'll be in
space anytime soon.

JAY DALLAS
If your not cut out for it. Why
did you join in the first place?

Wade Raggo stares at Jay Dallas.

Jay Dallas doesn't even blink.

WADE RAGGO
Or more importantly, why did YOU
join in the first place?
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 8

LUKE VELO
I'm sorry about this, captain.
Wade gets a little agitated
before we launch.

Wade Raggo fidgeting around.

WADE RAGGO
Don't apologize for me. I wanna
know why this jerk is here. I
have a right to know. This could
endanger the lives of MY crew.

Jay Dallas remains perfectly still.

JAY DALLAS
It's not your crew anymore, Mr.
Raggo. It's my crew. I'm in charge.

DALE KASH
Please guys, don't argue. I'm
nervous as it is. I don't need
this shit.

Wade Raggo grits his teeth.

WADE RAGGO
Fine. I'm sorry captain. I didn't
mean to question your ethics. I
apologize for my actions.

JAY DALLAS
That's more like it.

Wade Raggo fits himself back into his seat. Muttering

under his breath.

WADE RAGGO
Jerk.

JAY DALLAS
But if you must know. The brother
of a deceased friend of mine is
onboard. I promised his mother,
I'll bring him home safely.

Wade Raggo smirks.

WADE RAGGO
This friend wouldn't be the one
that died on YOUR last mission,
would it?

Jay Dallas fidgets slightly. He clears his throat.

JUDY WANG
Wade. I think that was most
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 9

inappropriate. I'm really

starting to worry about you.

Jay Dallas remains silent.

Wade Raggo mutters to himself.

WADE RAGGO
Gotcha, boy.

Dale Kash gives Wade Raggo a cold look.

Wade Raggo just shrugs his shoulders.

WADE RAGGO
Not yet it isn't.

JAY DALLAS
Dis-engage hyperdrive, Mr. Raggo.

Wade Raggo clicks a switch above him.

The flashing of lights stop. The Northstar appears in the

WADE RAGGO
There she be. One of the greatest
ships ever built.

Dale Kash leans forward.

DALE KASH
Wow. What a sight.

Jay Dallas is unmoved.

JAY DALLAS
Don't get too excited, gentlemen.

The Northstar lurches into full view.

WADE RAGGO
Look at that. What a disgrace. A
beautiful ship doin' nothin' but

JAY DALLAS
Take us in, Mr. Raggo.

WADE RAGGO
Yeah. I guessed that.

Wade Raggo gently glides the ship towards the Northstar.

JAY DALLAS
Alright, listen up. This ship has

Mr. Kash will be heading. The

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 14

WADE RAGGO
And the fourth?

JAY DALLAS
The fourth is where the Iron ore
is stored. But we won't concern
our selves with this. Anymore

Jay Dallas raises an eye brow.

JAY DALLAS
Well, Mr Raggo. It's in mine.

WADE RAGGO
God. Your gonna get us all fuckin'

Wade Raggo storms towards the door.

Judy Wang clutches his arm.

JUDY WANG
Wade, come on. Don't be like this.
Please. We need to stick together

mission.

Wade Raggo shrugs her off.

WADE RAGGO
I'm takin' long walk around this
junk pile. If yea need me. Call me.

Wade Raggo exits.

JUDY WANG
Captain? Shouldn't we do something?

Jay Dallas remain emotionless.

JAY DALLAS

Looks over to Dale Kash.

JAY DALLAS
Mr.Kash, how's she looking?

Dale Kash glances up.

DALE KASH
All major systems are functioning
as normal. It's safe to remove
space gear. Communications though,
are down.

JAY DALLAS
We need them restored ASAP.

DALE KASH
I'll get right on it.

JAY DALLAS
OK, Miss Wang, you head down and
get medical room in order. We'll
need it in case of emergency.

Jay Dallas marches out.

Dale Kash removes a tool bag from the back pack, wandering

WADE RAGGO
Yo! Are you with the crew? Hey!

Wade Raggo treads carefully onto the first steps. They

rattle under his weight. The echoing sound bounces off
the cold walls. Holding tightly on to the railing. He
leans over --

-- Nothing. Nothing but darkness. He signs with relief.

WADE RAGGO
Scared the livin' shit outta me.

INT. ENGINE ROOM - C DECK

Luke Velo fumbles about, immersed deep inside the cabinet.

A shadowy figure emerges in the distance. Luke Velo
continues unaware. It slowly stomps it's way towards him.

As he hammers away, pulling apart wires, sparks flying

everywhere. In the glimmer of the small light, the shadowy
figure emerges --

-- It's ENGINE ZOMBIE NO.1. Deformed face, blood shot eyes,

cuts and scars. Oily, rough, uneven skin. Pulsating veins
full of cold blood. Arms out in front. Ripped, torn clothes.

Lights flicker. Luke Velo stops.

LUKE VELO
What the...?

Lights cut out. Darkness. Luke Velo fumbles around.

Pulling a mini torch out of his back pack. He switches it on.

Engine Zombie No.1 stands right in front of him, wide grin,

rotted teeth showing.

ONE sprawled across it in large red letters. Next to it a
panel with two large buttons, red and green.

Wade Raggo stands straight. Unfazed by the earlier incident.

WADE RAGGO
Lets see what this bitch is
carryin'.

Wade Raggo whacks the red button. The door shoots open.
He steps through into.

INT. IRON ORE CONTAINMENT BAY ONE - D DECK

Giant lights hang from the ceiling lighting the place up

like a red hot sun. A balcony running all around the huge
room to another door on the opposite side. Above it a sign
reads CONTAINMENT BAY TWO.

Beneath the balcony a huge pit full to the brim of Iron

Ore. Blood stains the floor, dripping down to the Iron
Ore below. Blood splashed onto the, otherwise, shiny metal
walls. The railing also stained with dried sticky blood.

Wade Raggo steps towards the railing, oblivious to the

blood. Head held high in awe of the hugeness. Eyes wide
with excitement. He bumps into the railing, head focuses
down on the Iron Ore, still oblivious to the blood. He
breathes in. Then out.

WADE RAGGO
Now, this is what I'd call beauty.

He steps back, placing hands on the railing, and into the

blood.

WADE RAGGO
What the...?

Staring at his hands, he spins around. Catching sight of

all the blood.

WADE RAGGO
Fuck me! Look at this shit. I
knew this fuckin' thing was trouble.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 22

He wipes his hands down the front of his space suit. He

steps back to the door.

WADE RAGGO
This is one fucked up ship.

Wade Raggo steps back inside the corridor, taking one last
look, Shaking his head in disbelief. The door slams shut.

The Containment Bay Two door shoots open.

LONG SHOT. A de-formed figure stands in the door way. It's

BILLY KENT, Jay Dallas's best friends brother. He lets
out a maniacal laugh, echoing across the room.

small black case.

JAY DALLAS
Ah. Here we go. The Captain's diary.

He opens up the case. To reveal four buttons. STOP, PLAY,

NEXT and PAUSE. He presses Play. A small screen rises up.
Revealing --

-- CAPTAIN BASSETT's face. An old bearded gentlemen with

glasses. Grey receding hair. He speaks.

CAPTAIN BASSETT

a solar wind must have caused it.

Jay Dallas taps Next button.

CAPTAIN BASSETT
April 3rd - Billy Kent arranged
rebellion. They tear apart the
ship. I managed to keep it under
control. Billy Kent placed in
living quarters three for the
duration of the trip.

Jay Dallas sits up.

JAY DALLAS
Well I never. Little Billy, the
rebel.

Jay Dallas laughs. He stands up. Turning to the ship map

on the wall opposite. He steps over to it. Staring carefully.

JAY DALLAS
Living quarters three, huh?

He locates it.

JAY DALLAS
Bingo.

Jay Dallas marches out.

INT. MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

The room is a mess. In the left hand corner stands a table

with a body on it. Covered by a plain white sheet.

Judy Wang waltz in. She stops and gasps.

JUDY WANG
Oh. What in god's name happened
in here?

Judy Wang creeps over to the table with the body on it.
She survey's the room once more. She clutches a clump of
sheet in her hand.

JUDY WANG
Let's see what I've got here.

She pulls back the sheet. Revealing --

-- MED ZOMBIE with rough, brittle, pealing naked skin.

Blood shot eyes. Bald. Holes in torso. Cuts, scratches
everywhere.

Judy Wang scans around. Small box of gloves under the

table. She picks them up. Pulls out a pair. Dropping the
box to the floor. Slips them on. She begins to poke around.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 24

JUDY WANG
Eeww. Gross.

She leans over. Grabs the head. She feels the oily skin.
Hair falls out. She shakes her head.

JUDY WANG
God. What happened to you?

She opens his mouth. Sticks he fingers in. Feels around.

JUDY WANG
Well. At least you still have
your teeth.

Closes the mouth. She cautiously peers into it's eyes.

Med Zombie's arm grabs Judy by the throat. Squeezing tightly.

Judy Wang coughs and splutters. Desperately getting short

of breath.

Med Zombie sits up. Stares at her. Then snarls with delight.

Judy Wang shakes and struggles to get free. But can't.

The grip getting tighter and tighter. Tears swell up in
her eyes. She looks around frantically. Notices metal bowl
on floor.

Moving her feet she scoops it up on her foot. Her time is

running out. Her face turing blue.

Med Zombie survey's the carnage. Trying to make sense of

his surroundings.

She lifts her leg up. Leans over. With a last gasp. It's
now or never. Just grips the bowl in her fingertips. With
a fury slams it hard onto the head of Med Zombie.

His grip loosens. Slams back down onto the table.

Judy Wang collapses to the floor. Breathes frantically.

She looks at the bowl. Covered with blood.

JUDY WANG
Oh. God. Oh. God.

She drops it. It clangers on the floor. Looks up at Med

Zombie lying lifeless. Clambers to her feet. Tears roll
down her cheeks. Visibly shaking. She paces back towards
the door.

Fiddles around with the buttons. The door slides open.

She takes a good hard look. Then steps out.

INT. CORRIDOR OUTSIDE MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 25

The area surrounding the medical room door stained with

blood. The rest of the corridor plain and rusty.

Judy Wang steps out. Back leans against far wall. She
bursts into tears. Crouching down with fear. She gets on
the two way radio and screams.

INT. D DECK ENTRANCE CORRIDOR - C DECK

Wade Raggo stands around. Trying to figure what to do next.

Judy Scream crackle through the two way.

WADE RAGGO
Judy? You OK, baby?

Her screams continue.

WADE RAGGO
Hang on, sweet thing. I'm comin'!

Wade Raggo spirits down the corridor.

CUT TO:

INT. CORRIDOR OUTSIDE MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

Judy Wang sits crouched on the floor shaking. Screaming.

Tears pouring her face.

Wade Raggo rushes to her. He crouches down. Wrapping his

arms around her.

WADE RAGGO
It's OK, baby. I'm here now.

Judy looks up and smiles.

JUDY WANG
Thank you, wade.

She dries her eyes on her sleeve.

WADE RAGGO
What's with the cryin' anyway?

JUDY WANG
I swear Wade, there's something
weird going on. I just had the
biggest fright of my life. The
body came alive. Grabbed my
throat. Almost fucking killed me.
I was so scared.

WADE RAGGO
You serious? You alright?

JUDY WANG
I'm fine now. Just happened so
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 26

suddenly. Without warning. I

honestly thought I was going to die.

WADE RAGGO
My poor Judy.

Wade Hugs her extra tight.

WADE RAGGO
I've seen my fair bit of weird
shit aswell. Went snoppin' around
down D deck with captain twat
said we shouldn't...

JUDY WANG
Oh Wade. You didn't?

WADE RAGGO
Yep. First I swore I saw some guy
running down their but turned out
to be shit all. Then in the
containment bay, never seen so
much fuckin' blood. It was
everywhere.

Judy Gets up.

Wade follows.

WADE RAGGO
This body, you were talkin' about.
It's still in there?

JUDY WANG
As far as I know.

WADE RAGGO
I wanna check it out. You comin'
in or stayin' out 'ere?

JUDY WANG
I'll come but I'm staying behind
you.

WADE RAGGO
Fine by me.

Wade Raggo smacks the open button. The door slips open.
He heads in. Closely followed by Judy Wang.

INT. MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

The room is silence. No sign of movement.

Med Zombie remains lifeless.

Wade Raggo cautiously creeps in. Looking around.

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 27

Judy Wang creeps in behind.

WADE RAGGO
Damn. What a fuckin' dump.
Where's this body?

JUDY WANG
Over there. On that table.

Wade Raggo strolls over. He examines Med Zombie closely.

Judy Wang stays close to the door. Just in case.

WADE RAGGO
Looks dead to me.

JUDY WANG
You sure? I thought it was dead,
too. Then it tried to strangle me.

Wade Raggo smacks Med Zombie in the face with his fist.

WADE RAGGO
Defiantly dead.

Judy Wang slowly comes over.

JUDY WANG
I'm still scared.

WADE RAGGO
Don't worry, baby. I'll stay 'ere
with ya. I've got nothin' better
to do.

JUDY WANG
Thank you Wade.

WADE RAGGO
No problem. I'd better let
Captain Jackass know.

Wade gets on the two way radio.

WADE RAGGO
(on the radio)
Hey, captain ass.

INT. CORRIDOR - A DECK

Jay Dallas stands in the centre. On the radio.

JAY DALLAS
(on the radio)
I'd prefer Captain or Mr. Dallas.
No need for these childish
remarks. Your a grown man.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 28

Wade Raggo voice crackles through.

WADE RAGGO (O.S.)

Get that stuck up pouncey ass
down to the medical room. Some
shit been happenin'. Captain. Sir.

Jay Dallas shakes his head.

JAY DALLAS
(to himself)
Foolish man.

CUT TO:

INT. MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

Judy Wang and Wade Raggo are standing around. Waiting.

JUDY WANG
What are you going to say, Wade?

WADE RAGGO
I'll just tell the jerk about all
this weird shit that's goin' on.
And just confirm that I'll be
down 'ere helping you.

JUDY WANG
That seems OK.

Jay Dallas marches in.

JAY DALLAS
Ah. Mr. Raggo and Miss Wang. What
seems to be the problem?

WADE RAGGO
I'll tell ya what's wrong. This
place ain't nothin' but trouble.
I've seen some weird shit and so
has her.

JUDY WANG
The body came alive and strangled
me. I almost died.

JAY DALLAS
Really? How odd. You OK now, Miss
Wang?

WADE RAGGO
She is now. I don't like this
shit one bit. I was down in D
Deck...

JAY DALLAS
That area is forbidden. You
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 29

shouldn't be down there Mr. Raggo.

Disobeying orders is a violation.

WADE RAGGO
Don't worry your ass too much.
I'm stayin' 'ere with Judy.
Someone has too. Your too busy
prancing around like a prat to care.

JAY DALLAS
For your information. I do care.
I don't plan to lose any crew on
this mission. And I would prefer
Mr. Raggo if your could address
me properly in future, please.

WADE RAGGO
Whatever.

Wade Raggo turns away from Jay Dallas.

JAY DALLAS
I'm glad to see your alright.
Miss Wang.

JUDY WANG
Thank you, captain.

JAY DALLAS
If you like Mr. Raggo with you
here. Then that would be fine by me.

JUDY WANG
Oh. I would. Thank you.

JAY DALLAS
You quite welcome. I'll be in
living quarters three checking
up on a few things. Don't
hesitate to call if there's a
problem, Miss Wang.

Jay Dallas approaches Wade Raggo.

JAY DALLAS
And as for you Mr. Raggo. I'm
here wether you like or not. So
I would appreciate it if you
would drop the attitude.

Jay Dallas marches out.

JUDY WANG
He has a point. It's getting
tiresome now.

Wade Raggo looks at her blankly.

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 30

WADE RAGGO
Please, baby. Don't start.

JUDY WANG
I was just saying...

WADE RAGGO
...Well don't. You want me to go?
Cos I will if ya don't drop this
shit.

Judy Wang sighs.

JUDY WANG
Fine. Have it YOUR way.

INT. BRIDGE - A DECK

Dale kneels infront of the computer. Shaking his head.

DALE KASH
Well the fault's defiantly not
at this end. Must be the comms.
satellite out of line.

He stands up. Gets on the two way radio.

DALE KASH
(on the radio)
Hey luke, buddy. How things down
where you are?

Just static.

DALE KASH
(on the radio)
Luke? Come on man. I don't have
time to play around.

Still just static.

DALE KASH
(on the radio)
Don't make me come down there.

Still static.

Dale Kash shakes his head. He sighs.

DALE KASH
(to himself)
That jerk.

Dale Kash stands still puzzled. Wondering if he should go

see Luke.

DALE KASH
What the hell. I can't do
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 31

anything else down here.

Dale Kash hurries out.

INT. LIVING QUARTERS THREE - B DECK

Jay Dallas marches in. He glances around. Heads for the

storage cabinets. One of them has BILLY KENT written on
it. Jay Dallas smiles. He jams it open. Revealing --

-- A journal, a nude magazine, newspaper clippings and

some photos.

Jay Dallas picks up the nude magazine. He clears his

throat to hide his embarrassment.

JAY DALLAS
Oh. Billy.

He dumps it on the floor. He picks up the photos. Various

ones of Him, Billy Kent and John Kent.

He places the photos back in the cabinet. He gathers the

newspaper clippings and the journal. Somberly heads to
the bunk bed. He collapses down on it. He opens the
journal. The first page is full of Anti-Jay Dallas
scribbling.

JAY DALLAS
Oh. Dear. If only I'd knew you
felt this way. I might have been
able to clear the air.

Jay Dallas flicks to the next page. He reads the entry.

JAY DALLAS
Tenth of November. John and Jay
head out of routine rescue
mission. I used to worry. But no
more. I know he'll be safe. He
always is. Besides Jay's a great
captain. He knows best. Can't
wait to see them both again.

Jay Dallas lowers his head. Hand over his face.

JAY DALLAS
Oh. God.

INT. TRISTAR BRIDGE (FLASHBACK)

Large crowded area. Computer consoles scattered everywhere.

Sparks are flying. Fires burn bright all around.

Alarms boom out. Thick black smoke.

JOHN KENT -- young, good looking is surrounded by fire.

Chokes on the thick smoke. A girder falls on him. Pinning
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 32

him to the floor.

Jay Dallas bursts in. Shielding his face. But he is

blocked by fire and falling debris.

JAY DALLAS
John. Hold on. I'm coming!

JOHN KENT
It's too late for me, Jay. Leave.
Get the crew off. That's the
priority. I'm done for. Tell me
brother, I'll be watching over him.

JAY DALLAS
I can't damn it.

Jay Dallas tries to reach over. But the heat from the fire
is too intense. The room filling up with smoke. Debris
continues to fall. Jay Dallas backs off.

JAY DALLAS
I won't forget you.

JOHN KENT
See you around, friend.

The room shakes violently. Tears in Jay Dallas's eyes.

Slowly he leaves.

INT. LIVING QUARTERS THREE - B DECK

Jay Dallas sits sombrely. Head in his hands. He flicks

the journal to the next page. Reads the next entry.

JAY DALLAS
Fourteenth of November. That
bastard. he killed my brother. I
hate him. I hate him so much.
Says it was for the sake of the
mission. Will he ever learn to
put friends first? I wished he
had died as well. I'll get revenge,
I swear.

Jay Dallas closes the journal firmly. He places it down

next to him. He picks up the newspaper clippings. He reads
them out.

JAY DALLAS
Dallas calls it quits -- After
losing a friend Jay Dallas has
quit the Space Rescue Squad
vowing NEVER to return.

He flicks to the next one. Headline reads.

JAY DALLAS
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 33

Blunder in space -- senior

captain quits after accusations
of mis conduct on routine rescue
mission.

Flicks to next one. Headline reads.

JAY DALLAS
I'll never go back -- The words
echoed by senior captain Jay
Dallas after losing a friend in
routine mission. Jay Dallas
famous for the motto -- I never
lose a member of my crew -- now
seems to have back fired leaving
him no alternative but to quit.

He places the clippings beside him. Hangs his head with

shame and disgust. He sits quietly reflecting on things.

INT. ENGINE ROOM - C DECK

The room is silent and dark. The zombies and Luke Velo's
body has vanished. But his backpack and torch still remain.

Dale Kash stumbles in. He stops dead.

DALE KASH
Luke? You here?

His voice echoes around the room. But no reply.

DALE KASH
(to himself)
Why's it so dark?

Squints his eyes trying make things out. But can't see a
thing. He stumbles around. Trying to find a switch of some
sort.

DALE KASH
(to himself)
I'm surprised the lights in here
don't work. I'm so sure they
showed up as working on the
computer. I swear.

Stumbling around Dale accidentally kicks the torch

slightly. He slowly bends down.

DALE KASH
What's this?

Grabs it in his hands. He holds it up.

DALE KASH
Finally.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 34

He hits it hard against his palm. The torch flickers to life.

DALE KASH
Here we go.

Dale Kash scans around with the torch.

DALE KASH
LUKE!

Dale Kash focuses the torch beam on the floor spotting

Luke's backpack. He rushes over. He kneels down. It's
still full of Luke's tools. Dale Kash stands up.

DALE KASH
LUKE! LUKE! Where the fuck are you?

Tears swell in his eyes. He gets on the two way radio.

DALE KASH
(on the radio)
Luke's gone! I can't find him
anywhere. Get down here. NOW!

INT. LIVING QUARTERS THREE - B DECK

Jay jumps to his feet.

JAY DALLAS
I will NOT lose a crew member
again. Not now, not ever.

He storms out.

CUT TO:

INT. ENGINE ROOM - C DECK

Dale Kash is standing silent. Torch shone down on Luke's

backpack.

Jay Dallas rushes in.

Dale Kash shines the torch in his face.

Jay Dallas covers his eyes.

JAY DALLAS
It's me, Mr. Kash.

Dale Kash shines the torch back on the floor.

DALE KASH
Sorry, captain.

JAY DALLAS
What's all the commotion about?
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 35

Dale Kash shines the torch on Luke's backpack.

DALE KASH
It's Luke. He's gone.

JAY DALLAS
Don't panic, Mr Kash. I'm sure
he's around somewhere. I'll
gather everyone together and
we'll search the ship.

DALE KASH
Why hasn't he used the radio?

Jay Dallas stands silent.

DALE KASH
Captain?

JAY DALLAS
It's a big ship. The radio
doesn't work in all areas. Maybe
he's lost in one of those.

DALE KASH
Really? You think?

Dale Kash smiles.

DALE KASH
Ok then. I feel better now.

JAY DALLAS
Round everyone up on the bridge.

DALE KASH
Aye, aye captain.

Dale Kash exits.

Jay Dallas stands around. Mumbling to himself.

JAY DALLAS
God, it's happening again. Got
to stay focused. He MAY be alive.

Jay Dallas paces up and down.

JAY DALLAS
Got to stay together. Get the
ship back, crew intact.
Everything will be fine.

Jay Dallas nods his head.

JAY DALLAS
It's fine.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 36

He exits.

INT. BRIDGE - A DECK

Dale Kash, Judy Wang and Wade Raggo stand around mumbling
among themselves.

Jay Dallas proudly burst in.

Silence falls.

JAY DALLAS
Listen up crew. Mr. Velo has gone
walkabouts. I want a thorough
search of the ship. He's here and
I want him found. I don't intend
to start losing anymore crew
members.

Wade Raggo laughs.

JAY DALLAS
Is there a problem, Mr. Raggo?

WADE RAGGO
Damn right there's a fucking
problem. You've fucked up,
haven't ya?

JAY DALLAS
I don't understand what your
getting at Mr. Raggo. I haven't
'fucked' up. As you put it.

WADE RAGGO
Cut the shit.

JUDY WANG
Wade. Don't do this.

DALE KASH
Hey, chill out.

WADE RAGGO
Luke's gone AWOL because you
screwed up. You screwed up here.
You screwed up on your last mission.

JAY DALLAS
I didn't screw up. Mr. Raggo. I
made a judgmental decision. And
I stick by it.

Wade Raggo smirks.

Judy Wang grabs his arm pulling him back.

JUDY WANG
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 37

Calm down, Wade. We still have a

job to do here.

WADE RAGGO
(to Judy Wang)
Your right. I'm sorry. Luke's a
good friend of mine. That's all.
Then HE shows up and Luke goes
missing.

JAY DALLAS
The guy I lost was a friend too.
You think it was easy to let him
just die? It wasn't. It still
haunts me to this day. But I
carry on with the job that needs
to be done.

Jay Dallas looks away trying to stop disguise his deepest

feelings.

JAY DALLAS
You have been nothing but trouble
Mr. Raggo. I have NEVER in all
my years seen anyone quite like you.

WADE RAGGO
It that a compliment?

Jay Dallas stares down at the floor.

JAY DALLAS
I understand your anxiety. I get
brought in unannounced and take
over. Your scared. Frightened.
But I'm here to do a job, Mr.
Raggo. We all are. So put this
childish angst behind you and
let's find Mr. Velo.

WADE RAGGO
Fine. But this isn't over between
us. Not by a long shot.

Wade Raggo grabs Judy Wang.

WADE RAGGO
We'll search C deck.

Wade Raggo drags Judy Wang out with him.

Jay Dallas and Dale Kash are left in silence.

DALE KASH
Just to let you know, captain. I
trust you. Shall we go find Luke
then?
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 38

Jay Dallas sighs.

JAY DALLAS
After you, Mr. Kash. After you.

INT. CORRIDOR - C DECK

Wade Raggo And Judy Wang wander along in silence.

Judy Wang stops.

Wade Raggo carries on walking.

JUDY WANG
Wade...

WADE RAGGO
...No. I don't want to talk about
it.

JUDY WANG
I'm just curious to know why you
keep having ago at Jay. He's done
nothing wrong.

Wade stops by a door.

WADE RAGGO
He's an asshole.

JUDY WANG
That's hardly a good reason.

WADE RAGGO
Well it's good enough for me.

JUDY WANG
But...

WADE RAGGO
...No more. We're to find Luke,
alright?

Judy Wang runs over to Wade.

JUDY WANG
Fine.

WADE RAGGO
Good.

Wade Raggo taps the control panel. The door slides open.
They both enter.

INT. STORAGE ROOM ONE - C DECK

STORAGE ZOMBIE NO.1 hides behind a shelf in the dark.

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 39

Wade Raggo enters. He coughs.

WADE RAGGO
Jesus. Look at this place.

Judy Wang stands in the doorway.

P.O.V Storage Zombie No.1 moves around the shelves

remaining in darkness. Staring at the unsuspecting Wade
Raggo.

JUDY WANG
I don't think Luke's in here.

Wade Raggo laughs.

WADE RAGGO
Your right.

Judy Wang begins to walk away.

Wade Raggo scurries after her.

The door slams shut.

CLOSE UP Storage Zombie No.1 smiles. Bearing it's rotten

teeth.

CUT TO:

INT. CORRIDOR - B DECK

Jay Dallas and Dale Kash stumble along.

DALE KASH
Why would Luke be down here?

JAY DALLAS
Well...

Jay Dallas comes to a halt.

JAY DALLAS
...We didn't bring that much
equipment with us due to the
space restrictions. Maybe he
needed some tool we didn't bring
so he probably went off looking
for it.

Dale Kash stops.

DALE KASH
Why didn't he radio us?

JAY DALLAS
Ah, Mr Kash you are naive. When
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 40

you been doing this as long as

me, you'll realize radios and
such break down surprisingly
easily. A little knock here and
little knock there...

Dale Kash laughs.

JAY DALLAS
...Your the technical guy, Mr.
Kash. I'm sure you understand.

Dale Kash stares at his wrist radio.

DALE KASH
Yeah. They are a bit cheap,
aren't they? Mass produced in
large factories to save money.

Dale Kash looks up.

DALE KASH
Damn budget cuts.

JAY DALLAS
Indeed. Indeed. Shall we proceed
on, Mr. Kash?

Jay Dallas and Dale Kash walk on down the corridor.

A slimey face appears behind an air vent. Wrinkly skin,

blood shot eyes. It's AIR VENT ZOMBIE NO.1. He smiles
bearing his rotted teeth.

P.O.V Air Vent Zombie No.1 watches Jay Dallas and Dale
Kash walk on down the corridor. Blissfully unaware of his
presence.

CUT TO:

INT. STORAGE ROOM TWO - C DECK

Wade Raggo storms in. He stops and sighs.

Judy Wang enters calmly. She stops and looks around.

JUDY WANG
Wow. Look at all these boxes.

WADE RAGGO
This is hopeless. We're NEVER
gonna find Luke.

JUDY WANG
Don't be so negative, Wade.

WADE RAGGO
Screw this!
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 41

Wade kicks over a large stack of cardboard boxes. They

crash to the ground. Spilling their contents of metal rods
and circuit boards everywhere.

JUDY WANG
Wade! Get a grip. Please.

WADE RAGGO
Fuck it, Judy.

Judy Wang looks on in disgust.

JUDY WANG
Losing your temper isn't helping
the search.

Wade Raggo collapses against the wall by the door.

WADE RAGGO
HE'S FUCKING DEAD!

JUDY WANG
How dare you suggest...

WADE RAGGO
...Suggest? It's the truth, Judy.
Open your fuckin' eyes.

Judy Wang turns away.

JUDY WANG
I don't believe that.

Wade Raggo storms over to her.

WADE RAGGO
I've known Luke for a long time.
He's not the kind of guy who just
fuckin' wanders off.

Wade Raggo spins Judy around to face him..

JUDY WANG
He wasn't supposed to fix the
engines so he didn't have the
tools. So obviously he's wandered
off to find them. It's simple
logic, Wade.

Wade Raggo grabs Judy tightly

WADE RAGGO
EXACTLY! He wasn't supposed to
fix the engines. So why did he?

Judy turns her head away trying not to listen.

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 42

WADE RAGGO
LOOK AT ME JUDY! Why did he?

Judy Wang stares at Wade.

JUDY WANG
The Captain told...

WADE RAGGO
...Yes. That jerk.

Wade Raggo storms over to another stack of boxes. He turns

to face a confused Judy.

JUDY WANG
Wade, What the...?

WADE RAGGO
He NEVER told us, why? Did he?
He NEVER once said why Luke
should fix the engines.

Judy Wang shugs her shoulders.

WADE RAGGO
We were here to find the crew,
weren't we?

Judy Wang stands silent.

WADE RAGGO
WEREN'T WE?

JUDY WANG
YES. Alright.

WADE RAGGO
Well, DO YOU SEE THEM ANYWHERE? HUH?

Wade Raggo pushes the stack of boxes over. They crash to

the floor with a bang. Spreading pipes and circuits across
the floor.

STORAGE ZOMBIE NO.2 head appears in the air vent. Grinning

mercilessly.

P.O.V Storage Zombie No.2 breathes heavily as he watches

down on Wade and Judy.

JUDY WANG
Wade. Don't.

WADE RAGGO
What possible use could it be
getting this fucking ship home
straight away? Yeah, they're
usually tow them home after a
couple of months, but now? During
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 43

a rescue mission. It doesn't add up.

Judy Wang rolls her eyes and sighs.

JUDY WANG
The captain said...

WADE RAGGO
...FUCK WHAT HE SAID! He's not
the captain, I AM!

JUDY WANG
Wade. Would you please get a grip
on yourself.

WADE RAGGO
Don't you dare start with me.
I've had enough.

Wade gets on the radio.

WADE RAGGO
(on the radio)
Jay Dallas, you mother fucking
whinny little shit. Get everyone
back to the bridge, NOW!

CUT TO:

INT. CORRIDOR - B DECK

Further along the corridor. Jay Dallas stands in disgust.

Dale Kash can't quite believe what he's just heard.

JAY DALLAS
(on the radio)
I beg your pardon, Mr. Raggo?

Wade Raggo voice booms out.

WADE RAGGO
(on the radio)
You heard me. Get your ass back
to the bridge. We ALL need to
have a little talk.

Wade Raggo's voice crackles out.

Jay Dallas and Dale Kash stand shocked and silent. They
both look at each other. Neither one knowing what to say.

DALE KASH
I guess, we should...

JAY DALLAS
...Yes. We should. I'm very
interested in what Mr. Raggo has
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 44

to say.

Jay Dallas and Dale Kash turn around. They stride back
down the corridor.

INT. BRIDGE - A DECK

Wade Raggo is looks tense. His face scrunched up with rage.

He paces up and down. Waiting to for the captain's arrival.

Judy Wang tries to calm him down. She looks concerned.

Grabbing on to Wade trying to get him to sit down and relax.

JUDY WANG
Come on, calm down.

WADE RAGGO
No. He's pushed me too far. Now
he's gonna fuckin' get it.

The door cranks open. Dale Kash wanders in. Quiet and
muted. Head focused on the floor.

Wade Raggo spins around. He fist clenched tightly. He

advances towards him. Teeth gritted.

Judy Wang grabs his arm. Trying her best to pull him back.

Dale Kash looks up with shock. He stumbles back. Hands

raised in defence.

DALE KASH
Wade, what the...?

WADE RAGGO
Where is he?

DALE KASH
Who?

WADE RAGGO
The captain you fuckin' shit.
Where is he?

Dale Kash lowers his hands and sighs. Looking at the floor.

DALE KASH
Dude, what the hell is goin' on?
I'm you buddy. Please don't talk
to me like that.

Wade Raggo. Loosens up. His hands drop to his side.

WADE RAGGO
I'm sorry, man. Things aren't
making any sense right now. Where
is Jay?
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 45

DALE KASH
He's now coming.

WADE RAGGO
Good.

Wade Raggo breathes in rapidly. He lowers his head. In

disgust.

WADE RAGGO
I didn't mean to insult you, man.

Jay Dallas strides in. Head held up. Smile on his face.

Wade Raggo looks up sharply. Teeth gritted. Fists clenched.

Muscles tighten. Eyes focused on Jay Dallas.

Jay Dallas comes to a halt by the door. Stands straight.

Looking relaxed.

JAY DALLAS
Now, Mr. Raggo? What seems to be
the problem?

Wade Raggo lounges towards him.

Dale Kash jumps in to break it up.

DALE KASH
Hey, hey!

WADE RAGGO
You fucking bastard! You fucker!
Tell us what's goin' on, Jay.
Tell us the fucking truth!

JUDY WANG
Wade. Please.

Judy Wang grabs him attempts to drag him back.

Wade and Jay eye to eye. Jay Dallas just smiles. Remaining
perfectly still.

Dale Kash caught in the middle. Desperately trying to

prevent a fight.

JAY DALLAS
Mr. Raggo. I haven't the faintest
clue what your on about.

WADE RAGGO
You damn well know what I'm on
about. This whole thing is fucked
up. Why are we here? Why are you
here?

JUDY WANG
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 46

Wade, your not making any sense.

Judy manages to pull him back slightly.

Dale Kash assists. Pushes him away from Jay Dallas.

DALE KASH
Come on, Wade. This isn't like
you. Get a grip.

Wade Raggo pulls away. Stepping away from everyone. His

eyes remain locked on Jay Dallas. The two men stare at
each other.

WADE RAGGO
Spill it, Jay.

JAY DALLAS
I was hired by the iron ore
company. And I accepted because
a friend of mine happens to be
onboard. I explained this at the
beginning.

Wade Raggo lurches forward again.

Dale Kash jumps in front of Wade. Preventing any further

advance.

WADE RAGGO
Bullshit!

Jay Dallas raises his voice for the first time. The
pressure starting to get to him. Sweat gathers on his
forehead.

JAY DALLAS
THAT IS THE TRUTH!

Wade Raggo is a little taken back. But he senses his moment.

WADE RAGGO
Come on, Jay. This ship has been
bothering me ever since we landed
on it. What's so special about
it? Why bring it back to earth
so quickly? That's not proper
procedure.

Jay Dallas remains silent.

Dale Kash turns to Jay.

DALE KASH
Captain?

Jay Dallas remain still. Head pointed at the floor.

Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 47

Dale Kash backs away from Jay. Stands by Wade.

DALE KASH
I'm with Wade on this one. I
don't like taking sides but Wade
makes a valid point. What is
going on?

Judy Wang remains silent. She stands halfway between the

two men.

Wade Raggo glances towards her.

WADE RAGGO
Judy?

Judy Wang looks at him. She shakes her head. Tears gather
in her eyes.

JUDY WANG
I don't wanna be apart of this.
Don't force me to choose Wade.
DON'T fuckin' make me choose, OK?

Wade Raggo sombrely nods his head. He glances back towards

the captain.

WADE RAGGO
You gonna tell us what we want?
Or are we gonna stand around here?

Jay Dallas looks up.

JAY DALLAS
What do you want from me, Mr.
Raggo, Mr. Kash?

WADE RAGGO
Just the truth.

JAY DALLAS
Fine, Mr. Raggo...

Dale Kash butts in.

DALE KASH
...Why are we here, really?

JAY DALLAS
Mr. Kash. We are here to rescue
the crew of this ship.

Wade Raggo looks down on Dale Kash. Shakes his head.

WADE RAGGO
Dale, please. I'll ask the
questions.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 48

Dale Kash sighs. Hands on hips. Head down.

Judy Wang relaxes against the wall.

WADE RAGGO
Now, Jay. Why you? There are
loads of others who are just as
experienced as you are. So, why
did the iron ore company choose
you? Huh?

JAY DALLAS
You want hear it? Mr. Raggo. You
REALLY want to hear it?

WADE RAGGO
Oh hell yeah.

Jay Dallas paces around. He sighs. He stops. Glances at Wade.

JAY DALLAS
I admit it. I screwed up. My last
mission. When John Kent died. I
couldn't handle it anymore. So I
quit. But the quilt. Too much to
handle. I fell deep down into
despair. After that, I lost
everything. My home. My family.
I became reckless. The only way
I could squash the pain was
through alcohol. I was on the
brink. But despite that, I still
tried my hardest to make things
right between me and Billy. His
brother. But he wouldn't have any
of it. Blamed me for everything.
Still does.

Tears swell in Jay Dallas's eyes. He looks down. To gather

his thoughts. He takes a deep breath.

JAY DALLAS
Everyone I knew shut me out.
Nobody respected me anymore. They
shunned me. I just wanted to make
things right. I was desperate. I
was buried in debt. Then, they
approached me...

WADE RAGGO
...They? You mean, the guys from
the iron ore company.

Jay Dallas glances back up again.

JAY DALLAS
Yes. They said one of their ships
had broken down. They wanted me
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 49

to lead the mission. But there

was a catch. The material on
board was special.

DALE KASH
...Hang on. Special? How'd you
mean, special?

JAY DALLAS
They didn't say. I was so
desperate for the job. I didn't
see fit to question them. They
offered me money. Large sums. If
I brought the ship back safely.
When I learned Billy on on board.
I knew this was a chance to prove
myself once again.

Wade Raggo grins.

WADE RAGGO
I knew it. This was never about
the crew. This was all about the
shit in the cargo bay. No wonder
you sent Luke off to fix the
engines. It's YOUR fault he's
missing.

DALE KASH
Well, I never.

Wade shakes his head.

WADE RAGGO
So here we are. Now what, captain?

JAY DALLAS
I'll cut you all in. Half a
million each. All we have to do
is get this ship home. It's simple.

Judy Wang is incensed. Lurching forward.

JUDY WANG
What!? No way.

Wade looks at Dale. They both smile.

WADE RAGGO
Hang on a minute, Judy.

JUDY WANG
Oh, Wade. How dare you. You guys
want a piece of this? Then fine.
Go ahead. Cut yourselves a deal.
But I'm not having none of it.
If you want me. I'll be in the
medical room.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 50

Judy Wang storms towards the door.

WADE RAGGO
Now, come on, Judy. Don't be like
that.

Judy Wang stops. She turns around.

JUDY WANG
Fuck you Wade. Fuck you. First
you were pissed off over the
deceit. But oh wait, once it
involves money, you now want to
cut yourself a piece. I thought
you cared. I guess I was wrong.

Judy Wang continues to the door. Passing Jay Dallas. She

stops. Stares at him.

JUDY WANG
I thought I could trust you. I
thought you were a decent,
honourable person. Heck, I even
stood up for you. Now I wished I
hadn't bothered.

Judy opens the door. Glances back.

JUDY WANG
Gentleman, I hope your all happy.

Judy Exits. The door slams behind her.

Dale Kash laughs.

DALE KASH
Must be PMS.

JAY DALLAS
Ok. Let's get things together.
We need the comms. fixed, ASAP.
And of course we need to get the
engines going, if we are to get
back to Earth.

DALE KASH
No problem, Captain. Leave the
comms to me. I'll have those
babies fixed in no time. I think
the dish is damaged. I'll have
to do a space walk but I reckon
I could get them up and running.

JAY DALLAS
Do what you have to do, Mr. Kash.
Mr Raggo?
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 51

WADE RAGGO
Alright. First things first. I
still don't like you but I need
the cash so yeah, I'll sort the
engines out.

JAY DALLAS
Excellent. Sorry I had to hide
this from you in the beginning.
But I was concerned about how you
would react.

DALE KASH
So is this it? Is this why you
accepted this mission? For the
money?

JAY DALLAS
No, no, Mr. Kash. I still have
personal reasons, like I
mentioned earlier. A friend's
brother is aboard. I want to know
what happened to him.

WADE RAGGO
Whatever. Let's just get this
shit done so we can go home and
collect our fucking money.

DALE KASH
What about, Judy?

JAY DALLAS
If she wants no part, then
there's nothing we can do for
Miss. Wang.

WADE RAGGO
I might be able to talk her round
later on.

JAY DALLAS
Alright, gentlemen. We have work
to do. Let's get this ship home.

Wade Raggo dashes out of the room. Eager to get things going.

Dale Kash Heads over and puts on his space suit and helmet.
He slips on his back pack. Then stomps out the door.

Jay Dallas relaxes in the captains chair. He let's out a

big sigh of relief.

INT. MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

Judy Wang is searching though some cupboards. She shifts

through all the beakers and first aid kits. Then stumbles
upon a microscope and a laptop computer. It looks dirty
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 52

and a bit rusty but still in working condition.

JUDY WANG
Bingo!

She removes it from the cupboard. Laying it out on the

table top. She sets it up. Connecting the microscope to
the laptop. She switches it on. It whirls into life.

JUDY WANG
Ah. Here we go.

She searches around again for a syringe. She finds it

laying in a metal dish along with other medical tools.
She takes it and heads over Med Zombie. She sticks the
syringe into it's arm. She draws out a load of blood.

She heads back over to the computer. She careful places a

drop on the microscope. Placing the syringe down she takes
a peek at the blood sample.

JUDY WANG
I've never seen anything like
this. How strange.

She fiddles around with the zoom in control.

JUDY WANG
Very, very interesting.

She taps away on the computer. A window box pops up. It

reads -- ANALYSING PLEASE WAIT.

She stands patiently. Tapping her fingers on the table

top. The bar moves ever so slowly across the screen. It
reads -- 2% COMPLETE. Judy sighs.

JUDY WANG
Oh god. This is going to take
forever. I wonder if there's any
food on this ship?

Judy wanders out the medical room. The bar on the computer
screen reads -- 100% COMPLETE. The results of the analysis
appear on the screen. It reads -- WARNING BLOOD SAMPLE
CONTAINS UNKNOWN LIFE FORM.

INT. ENGINE ROOM - C DECK

Wade Raggo stomps in. He looks around. It's dark. Grabbing

a flashlight out of his pocket, he scans around.

WADE RAGGO
Let's see what we have here.

He approaches the first metal cabinet. It's loosely open.

He slowly opens it. He peers inside. Staring at the
mangled mess of wires and circuit boards. He kneels down.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 53

He begins to fiddle around inside.

SFX: Footsteps.

Wade Raggo jumps to his feet. He scans around with the

flashlight. Nothing.

WADE RAGGO
Dale? Jay? Judy? Is that you?

Silence.

WADE RAGGO
That was weird.

He kneels downs again.

SFX: Footsteps

He jumps up once again. He scans around. When suddenly

directly in front of him is Engine Zombie No.1 His face
glows in the light of the torch.

Engine Zombie No.1 grins. His black rotted teeth shine

through.

Wade Raggo steps back in shock.

WADE RAGGO
What the fuck...!?

Engine Zombie No.1 groans.

More Zombies appear.

WADE RAGGO
Holy shit!

Engine Zombie No.2 grabs him from behind. Holding him

tightly.

Engine Zombie No.1 lurches forward, grinning.

Wade fights off Engine Zombie No.2 Pushing it backwards

against the cold metal wall. He spins around. Smacking
Engine Zombie No.2 on the side of the head with the butt
of the torch.

Engine Zombie No.2 collapses to the floor in a crumpled heap.

Wade Raggo spins around to face Engine Zombie No.1. He

draws his fist back.

WADE RAGGO
Suck on this.

Wade lurches forward, smashing his fist into the face of

Engine Zombie No.1. The force of the impact sends Engine
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 54

Zombie No.1 flying backwards to the floor.

Wade dashes out of the room.

CUT TO:

INT. CORRIDOR OUTSIDE ENGINE ROOM - C DECK

Wade Raggo sprints in. Gasping for breath. He dashes to

the door. He stops. Glances back. Nothing. He regains his
breath. He exists.

INT. CORRIDOR OUTSIDE DINING ROOM - B DECK

A brightly lit corridor. No signs of rust. Clean walls

scattered with healthy eating posters. And a menu on the
tow large blue double doors at the the end.

Judy Wang approaches.

JUDY WANG
Hmmm... This must be it.

Judy pushes open the doors and wanders in.

CUT TO:

INT. DINING ROOM - B DECK

The lights in the middle of the room are broken, so it

lies in darkness. The lights at both end of the room
flicker on and off.

Luke's body lies at the far end in the flickering light.

Judy Wang wanders in aimlessly. She stops. And stares.

JUDY WANG
What the...?

She stares at the body which glitters in the flickering

lights. She moves towards it. She stops and kneels down
next to it. She rolls it over onto it's back. It's Luke.
She screams.

JUDY WANG
Luke! Oh my god.
Tears roll down her cheeks. She checks for a pulse. Nothing.

JUDY WANG
Oh god. I can't believe it.

She stands up. Wiping the tears away.

In the flickering light behind her, DINING ZOMBIE NO.1

appears. It grins, baring it's rotted teeth. It slowly
moves towards. Judy. But she is unaware.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 55

JUDY WANG
Oh luke. Why did this have to
happen to you?

Dining Zombie No.1 gets closer and closer. But Judy Is

still unaware. It's torn blood stain clothes hang off it's
body. Dark vein litter its body. Blood shot eyes.

Suddenly More zombies appear to the left of Judy. She

screams. She steps back with fear... right into the
waiting arms of Dining Zombie No.1. It places its right
arm around Judy's throat. Leaning back, lifting Judy off
the floor.

She struggles around kicking her feet. She gasps for

breath. She flings her arms around trying to break free.
Hitting Dining Zombie No.1 On the Head. More zombies
approach her.

With it's left hand placed firmly on Judy's Head. Dining

Zombie No.1 jerks it's hand to the left, snapping Judy's
neck. The kicking of her feet stops. Her arms collapse to
the side of her body. Dining Zombie No.1 lets her go.

Her lifeless body falls to the floor in a crumpled heap.

Zombies surround her dead body. They all groan with
delight. In the flickering lights. They begin to eat and
disembowel her body.

INT. AIRLOCK - A DECK

On the ceiling two bulbs. A red one and a green one. The
red light is lit.

Dale Kash stands in the centre in full space gear. He's

attached to a large reel of able which sits in a pile next
to him. He switched on his space helmet lights. He clunks
forward to the large airlock door.

He taps the green button. The green light comes on. Steam
shoots into the room. A small buzzer goes off. Gradually
Dale Kash floats around. He clings onto a handle on the
ceiling. Slowly the airlock door slides open. The darkness
of space is revealed.

Pushing himself forward he grabs another hand by the door

and pulls himself out the room.

EXT. SPACE AROUND NORTHSTAR

It's pitch black. Only a small area in front of Dale, lit

by his helmet lights can be seen.

Dale Kash comes out of the airlock, grabbing another

handle to the left of the airlock door. He swings himself
around, banging against the cold metal of the ship. He
looks up. The next handle is visible in the beam of his
lights. He pushes himself up towards it. Grabbing on
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 56

tightly to stop himself floating off.

He looks up again, seeing the next handle up. Once again,

he pushes himself up towards it, grabbing on tightly to
it. The final handle can be seen in the beam of his lights.
He gives one final push, grabs on to it and swings himself
around slamming, face down on the top of the ship.

CUT TO:

EXT. TOP OF THE SHIP

He turns himself over. Reaching down, turning on his

magnetic boots. They clamp down hard onto the ship. He
slowly pulls himself to his feet. He clunks forward along
the ship, searching for the communications dish.

INT. BRIDGE - A DECK

Jay Dallas sits in the captains chair looking relaxed.

JAY DALLAS
I wonder how's Dale getting on,
I better check.

He gets on the radio.

JAY DALLAS
(on the radio)
Dale, how's things going? You
found the dish yet?

Dale Kash's voice crackles through the speaker.

DALE KASH (O.S.)

(on the radio)
Negative. I'm still searching.
It's hard to see anything. it so
freakin' dark.

JAY DALLAS
(on the radio)
Well keep searching. Good luck.

EXT. TOP OF THE SHIP

Dale continues to clunk along the ship. His lights cutting

through the darkness like a hot knife through butter.

At the edge of the beam of the his lights, the rather

large communications dish appears. It's badly damaged. It
leans off its supports.

DALE KASH
Bingo. Got ya.

He approaches the dish. He examines it. He looks around.

He shakes his head.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 57

DALE KASH
It's knackered. Completely
fucking knackered.

Suddenly a dead body of one of the crew comes flying out

the darkness. It slams into Dale. Knocking him off his
feet. He rolls and bounces along the ship. Heading towards
the edge. He grabs on tightly. His legs dangle over the edge.

He gasps for breath, searching around quickly, looking

for answers. He sees nothing but darkness. He regains his
breath. Hauling himself back on.

He clunks his boots back onto the top of the ship. He

stomps his way back over to the communications dish. He
looks around, looking for a clue as to what hit him.
Suddenly in the darkness, he catches a glimpse of a load
of floating corpses.

DALE KASH
What the...?

He moves forward. The corpses come into full view of his

lights. Another corpse flies towards him. He ducks down
quickly. It glides over him. He spins his body around, to
catch a glimpse of it as before it's swallowed up by the
blackness of space.

DALE KASH
Shit, shit!

CUT TO:

INT. BRIDGE - A DECK

Jay Dallas sitting twiddling his thumbs, waiting for Dale

and Wade to get back to confirm their task accomplished.
The door burst open. Jay Dallas jumps to his feet.

Wade Raggo enter, looking furious. He stands by the door,

breathing rapidly to calm himself down.

WADE RAGGO
You! I want a word with you!

JAY DALLAS
Ah. Mr. Raggo. How's those
engines coming.

WADE RAGGO
Oh, I'll tell ya how their doin'
alright. You can bet your ass on
that. Where's dale? he needs to
be here.

JAY DALLAS
Mr. Kash is off fixing the comms
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 58

dish. What ever is the problem,

Mr Raggo?

WADE RAGGO
You'll fucking know soon enough.
As far as I'm concerned, I quit.
I've fucking had enough of you,
and your stinking orders. Fuck
the money. Fuck this ship. I want
no part of it anymore.

JAY DALLAS
What? Mr. Raggo surely you can't
mean this. We would had an
agreement.

WADE RAGGO
FUCK IT!

JAY DALLAS
Mr. Raggo, would please tell me
what the hell is going on?

WADE RAGGO
First we get Dale in. Then I'll
tell ya. He needs to hear this too.

INT. TOP OF THE SHIP

Dale Kash is kneeling down as more of the mangled corpses

of the dead crew zoom past, then forever disappear in the
darkness.

DALE KASH
Shit. Why did I ever come here?

Wade's voice crackles through the speaker.

WADE RAGGO (O.S.)

(on the radio)
Dale. Get your ass down here to
the bridge pronto.

DALE KASH
(on the radio)
Gladly.

Dale Kash turns around and clunks his way back.

CUT TO:
INT. BRIDGE - A DECK

Dale Kash enters the room looking white as a sheet.

Jay Dallas sits in the captains chair looking nervous.

Wade Raggo leans against a computer console arms crossed

staring at Jay who avoids eye contact.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 59

Jay gets to his feet.

JAY DALLAS
Ah. Mr. Kash. Welcome back. How
did it go?

DALE KASH
The dish is buggered beyond
repair. But you wouldn't believe
what I saw up there. Dead bodies
of the crew just floating around.

WADE RAGGO
Good now that we're all here,
I'll inform Dale what I've
already told you. I quit. Fuck
the deal, fuck the money.

DALE KASH
What? Why?

JAY DALLAS
Yes, Mr. Raggo, please inform us
why.

WADE RAGGO
Fucking zombies, that's why. I
was attacked. I managed to fight
them off but they're tough little
fuckers.

DALE KASH
Zombies?

JAY DALLAS
Don't be silly, Mr Raggo.

WADE RAGGO
I'm fucking serious, you little
shit. Judy reported that a corpse
came alive. I believe her now.
This ship is like a bad dream.
Only this time, there's no waking
up.

DALE KASH
Where is Judy Anyway?

WADE RAGGO
She's In Medical room. I say
let's go get her and get off this
rust bucket.

JAY DALLAS
Afraid Not, Mr. Raggo. We still
have a mission to do.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 60

WADE RAGGO
Mission over. It's pretty clear
the crew are all dead. Dale's
seen the bodies, floating around
space.

JAY DALLAS
And what of our agreement?

WADE RAGGO
Fuck it.

JAY DALLAS
Mr. Kash, may I ask where do you
stand on this?

DALE KASH
I'm afraid I'm with Wade on this
one captain. I've seen a lot of
weird shit. More than I want to
see. I say mission over. I've
seen the bodies. Nobody's alive.
Time to go home.

WADE RAGGO
That settles it then. We go get
Judy then mission over.

JAY DALLAS
As captain of this mission, I say
it not over, Mr Raggo. We still
have work to do.

WADE RAGGO
Tough shit, captain. The majority
have spoken. Come on Dale, Let's
go get Judy.

DALE KASH
Sorry captain.

JAY DALLAS
Fine. Have your way.

Jay Dallas wonders over to the door. He opens it.

JAY DALLAS
Shall we?

Dale and Wade stare at each over in amazement. Wade looks

back towards Jay. He walks over to the door. Stops and
stares at Jay. He then exits. Dale quickly follows. Jay
exits too, slamming the door behind him.

INT. CORRIDOR OUTSIDE MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

They wander down the corridor, Wade leads, Dale in the

middle and with Jay on the end, looking defeated. They
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 61

approach the door and enter.

INT. MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

Wade marches in. He stops. Dale and Jay file in behind

him. He looks around.

WADE RAGGO
Judy? Where's she gone?

DALE KASH
Maybe she's gone for a walk. I'm
sure she'll be right back.

JAY DALLAS
Your plan now Mr. Raggo?

Jay looks smug.

Wade turns to him, giving him an angry look.

WADE RAGGO
We wait. She'll be back.

JAY DALLAS
That's fine then. We wait.

Dale Kash wanders around towards the back of the room.

There's a body laying on a table covered by a white sheet.
It's MED ZOMBIE NO.2

There is a rumbling sound. The lights flicker, the floor

begins to shake. Dale, Jay and Wade try to balance
themselves.

CUT TO:

INT. SPACE AROUND NORTHSTAR

The engines flicker, then burst into life. The NORTHSTAR

leaps forward.

CUT TO:

INT. ENGINE ROOM - C DECK

In the darkness, A small light flickers. In that light

stands --ENGINE ZOMBIE, Cut skin, gashes all over it's
face, torn ripped clothes.

Dried blood stains on it's clothes. Greasy black hair.

Blood shot eyes.

-- ZOOM IN, it tilts its head and smiles directly into

the CAMERA. Its smile loaded with rotted black teeth. Some
teeth are even missing.

CUT TO:
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 62

INT. CORRIDOR - B DECK

Zombies pour down the corridor. Groaning, arms out in

front, stumping down their feet on the metal floor.

CUT BACK TO:

INT. MEDICAL ROOM - B DECK

Jay and Wade dash outside.

Dale Kash stands looking confused.

DALE KASH
What's going on?

Jay comes back in.

JAY DALLAS
It's the engines. They've started
up somehow, Mr. Kash.

Wade wanders back in.

WADE RAGGO
I knew this ship was trouble. And
Judy isn't back yet. I'm getting
concerned. I'm going wait outside
for her.

JAY DALLAS
Very well Mr. Raggo.

Wade goes to walks out.

Jay turns his back on Dale when suddenly Med Zombie No.2
grabs Dale by the throat. He gasps for breaths.

DALE KASH
Help! Help me.

Wade spins round.

WADE RAGGO
Oh shit. Dale!

JAY DALLAS
Oh My God. Mr. Kash.

Wade dashes over to the laptop. He rips it out of it's

plug socket and dashes over to Dale. Raising the computer
above his head, he smashes it down onto Med Zombie No. 2.
The computer shatters into pieces. Glass shards fly
everywhere.

Med Zombie collapses back down onto the table releasing

its grip on Dale. Blood drips out of it shattered skull
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 63

onto the floor below.

Dale stumbles away breathing in rapidly.

Wade looks at the broken computer, then drops it to the

floor.

DALE KASH
Oh god, oh god.

JAY DALLAS
You alright, Mr. Kash?

WADE RAGGO
I FUCKIN' TOLD YOU SO!!!!! Zombies.

JAY DALLAS
Alright calm down Mr Raggo. We
believe you now.

DALE KASH
What are we going to do?

WADE RAGGO
Good question. Any suggestions
Captain?

JAY DALLAS
I say we hold out until back up
arrives. The ship is in motion.
Once we get closer enough to
Earth, inform them of the
situation and let them deal with it.

WADE RAGGO
Are you out your fuckin' mind?
Hold out? Get this junk heap to
earth, Are you kiddin' me?

JAY DALLAS
May I ask, Mr. Raggo, what YOU
would suggest.

WADE RAGGO
Certainly. I suggest, we fight
back. There's a weapons storage
room on B deck. Just down a few
corridors from here. I suggest
we load up and let rip.

JAY DALLAS
And as for the ship?

DALE KASH
Blow it up.

WADE RAGGO
Good thinkin', Dale.
Pilgrim / DEAD SPACE / 64

JAY DALLAS
I suppose, Mr. Raggo, I have no
choice in the matter BUT to go
along with your little plan.

WADE RAGGO
Exactly. Let's go.

Wade, Dale with Jay towing behind exit the room.

CUT TO:

INT. AMMUNITIONS ROOM - B DECK

Wade bursts in.

Dale and Jay follow close behind.

WADE RAGGO
Holy shit, look at all these
fuckin' guns.

DALE KASH
There's enough for a small army.

JAY DALLAS
I still don't see why we are here.
We should find a place to hide
and wait. This is only going to
lead to more trouble.

WADE RAGGO
Shut the fuck up. Load up dale.
We going to need all the guns and
ammo we can carry.

Wade grabs a shotgun and places it over his shoulder. He

also grabs an AK 47. He begins to stuff his pockets full
of ammo. He stops. His eyes gleam as he lay his eyes upon
a flamethrower hanging loosely on a hook at the end of
the first shelf. He dashes over to it.

WADE RAGGO
Now this is more like it.

He takes it off the hook and slips it onto his back. He

shakes around getting himself comfortable. He grabs the
hose and aims it at the wall.

WADE RAGGO
Yeah. This is it.

JAY DALLAS
Oh no, Mr. Raggo. Take that off.

This has gone to far. We don't
have the resources to destroy
them all.

DALE KASH
Maybe we do after all. I remember
seeing some C4 in the weapons
room. Maybe we could use it to
blow up the ship.

WADE RAGGO
Great idea Dale. But what about Jay?

DALE KASH
Should we inform him?

WADE RAGGO
I say fuck him. He's the one that
got us into this mess. I blame
him for Luke's death. Let him go
down with the ship. He is the
captain after all.

DALE KASH
