ONE

CON!

Tolled Tunnels to Traffic Jams

The two independent reports into the proposed $15.6 billion,
33 kilometre WestConnex City of Sydneys Strategic Review of
the WestConnex Proposal (Feb 2015) and the Auditor Generals
WestConnex: Assurance to Government (Dec 2014) both
express serious concerns about the ability of the WestConnex
tollway system to achieve its stated aims or meet Sydneys
transport challenges.
There will be no safe level of pollution from the exhaust stacks
across the Inner West, and Governments own reports show
Parramatta Road will get more traffic once tolls are reintroduced.
It is residents of western Sydney who are most likely to be shortchanged, with toll and parking costs of up to $48 predicted for a
single trip. Thats $240 per week for a commuter who has no reliable
access to public transport alternatives (City of Sydneys report).
