Supportive Care at Home

Supportive care at home

The best remedy for flu is to rest at home, keep warm and drink plenty of water to avoid
dehydration. Using a pain reliever helps reduce aches - may be adequate for recovery in
most cases. (A non-aspirin pain reliever should be used by children and young adults)

Prevention of Swine Flu spread

The main route of transmission of the pandemic influenza virus seems to be similar to seasonal influenza,
via droplets that are expelled by speaking, sneezing or coughing. You can prevent getting infected by
taking the following measures:

1) Keeping your distance from people who show symptoms of influenza

2) Clean hands thoroughly with soap and water
3) Avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes as much as possible

4) Reduce the time spent in crowded settings if possible

4) Improve airflow in your living space by opening windows
6) Practice good health habits

7)

Antiviral medication and the seasonal flu vaccination are also offered to people at risk.
