Pokmon Black and White Locations guide
Version 2.50

V1.00 finished March 01, 2011.
This version covers almost everything I can imagine. White

and Dream World details are still a bit foggy, but may be
more extensively by other guides. Names of the White Forest

need to spell it out for you. If you are not in that category
are curious, I recommend checking Serebii or Bulbapedia for a
database of past events.
V2.30 finished November 17, 2011
The Rugged Mountain area was added to the Dream World, and with
it came a lot of new Pokmon, as well as quite a few that were
previously White Forest exclusives. Thus I had to change the
isolation totals again. Stones and other evolution items were
also added in this update. Croagunk's Dream World event is also
noted, even though it doesn't offer anything particularly
V2.31 updated November 27, 2011
Some of the Rugged Mountain Pokmon and evolution items appear
after 7500 points. The original data didn't list this, so I

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-__-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_T_A_B_L_E_ _O_F_ _C_O_N_T_E_N_T_S_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-__- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This guide has four main chunks to it. The first chunk, consisting of
Sections 1-4, lists each of the 649 Pokmon. They are all organized by
availability, starting with the new Pokmon in the Unova Dex (the ones
obtainable before the postgame), then going through all the remaining Pokmon
from the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions - starting with the ones that
can be caught in Black or White, and proceeding to the rest that must be found
in other ways.
The second chunk goes through each area of the game from beginning to
end,
listing each Pokmon that can be found there, how you find them, and how
likely
they are to show up. If you're going for a full collection, you can follow
this
part of the guide as you play, making sure to catch everything as soon as it's
available.
The third section is very short, but every bit as helpful when you're
ready to evolve a whole bunch of Pokmon. It lists the locations of every item
needed for evolutions or breeding, as well as the items or techniques for
changing a Pokmon's form.
And finally, the fourth section is a FAQ that will hopefully answer
questions about the trickier aspects of the game.
NOTE - This guide does NOT cover Black 2 and White 2. While each Pokmon
available in Gens III and IV have notes on which games they can be found in,
the same is NOT done for Black 2 and White 2. I will most likely have a
separate guide written for those games when they are released in English, but
this guide will most likely not be updated with the new information.
________________________
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Pokmon in Unova Dex |- - - - - - - - - - - -
The Unova region, up until the end of the main storyline, contains only
entirely new Pokmon never before seen in previous games and regions. This
provides a fresh experience similar to that of the original Red and Green (or
Blue) versions over a decade ago. The total number of available Pokmon is
also
similar, slightly beating out the original 150 with 156. This brings the grand
total to 649, and roughly 330 of those can be caught in one game alone. For a
more accurate and explained total, check the FAQ in section 7.
As always, not every Pokmon is available in both games, and some require
a trade for evolution, effectively making them unavailable in both games
without interaction with another game, whether it belongs to a friend, a
stranger online, or yourself (along with another DS to play it on). Also new
to
Black and White is the introduction of event-only Pokmon that are not
legendary. A rather stupid choice if I must say so myself, but that's not the
point. This guide will list the locations of all Pokmon, from the most common
grass-dwellers to the illusionary species that only show themselves under rare
circumstances.
In the Johto and Sinnoh games, some Pokmon appear only at certain times
of the day. For Black and White, that mechanic has been replaced with seasons.
The seasons change monthly, so you'll be able to see each three times a year.
Very few Pokmon are affected by this, however, and the only season with
different results is Winter (April, August, and December). Pokmon only found
in the Winter will be marked with (Win). Pokmon found in Spring, Summer, and
Autumn, but NOT Winter will be marked with (no-W).
In addition to seasonal Pokmon, there are also some new ways to hide
rare
species in plain sight. The most simple is by looking through darker, somewhat
blue-tinted grass the same way you always would. This grass may sometimes be
hidden in a section of the area inaccessible the first time passing through.
Wild encounters in this grass often consist of two different Pokmon at once,
and sometimes a Pokmon can only be found this way. These are marked with
(dg).
Lastly, there is the concept of "special spots". These pop up in nearly
every location where wild Pokmon can be found, and are triggered simply by
taking steps. The possible results are shaking grass, a dirt cloud in caves,
a whirlpool in water, and a shadow on bridges. Move to the special spot and
there's your Pokmon. Certain new species can only be found this way, and it
can also, on rare occasions, yield an evolution usually not found in the wild.
With the whirlpools, you can also fish in these spots and get different
results
than surfing into them. No matter what the method, these will be marked with
(sp), for special spot.
Remember - (Win) and (no-W) for season-specific encounters, and (sp) and
(dg) for location-specific ones. These will be listed after the locations they
apply to, or at the very start of the list if it applies to every location the
Pokmon can be found in. Aquatic Pokmon will also state if they are found
through Surfing or fishing. Fishing in this game is restricted until after the
Elite 4, and there is only one rod to use, which clears up some confusion.
This first list will include all Unova Dex Pokmon, but any that are
unavailable in both games without trading or events will simply be redirects
to their proper sections. They are included to keep the list complete, but the
info and checklist spots for them are in other sections. Starter and fossil
Pokmon will have the first listed as regularly available, and others in the
"must trade" section. This obviously may not reflect your own choices, and it
is only shown this way to stress that it is impossible to obtain all of them
without trading for the ones not chosen.
1a) Available in both games before National Dex

SECTION 2
______________________________
- - - - - - - - - - - - | After gaining National Dex |- - - - - - - - - - -
Following the trend set by Diamond and Pearl, Black and White have a
large
number of previously inaccessible Pokmon that appear after beating the Elite
4
and gaining the National Dex. Let's ignore the fact that the Unova region is
incredibly far away from the previous regions and is advertised as having none
of the same Pokmon, because apparently they're here anyway. And furthermore,
the majority of them are simply found in areas that were blocked off earlier.
There are also a ton of water types found by fishing, similar to how obtaining
the Super Rod in Sinnoh opened up an entire sushi bar of new opportunities.
Except this time, this is the only fishing rod you get.
In addition to the dark grass and special spots as different ways of
encountering Pokmon, swarming returns to Black and White, functioning the
same
way it did in the Gen IV games. Here, just go to any gatehouse between two
areas and watch the actually pretty hard-to-read message board sign fresh from
an elementary school cafetorium or lotto machine. Cookie to anyone who got the
reference. But yeah, that's all there is to it - just read the sign and check
the area for swarms. There's 17 possible swarms (although some will differ
depending on version), and what you get each day is random.
Then... there's the matter of the White Forest. As the name implies, this
area is exclusive to White version, as the counterpart to the Black City. The
White Forest contains 33 Pokmon unavailable in Black, falling into two
categories - the "normal" ones, and what I call the tag-alongs. The tag-alongs
appear in the water, and which of those you get depends on which normal ones
you get. This place is a lot more complicated than it seems though, and I
don't
fully understand it yet. But I will explain it to the best of my ability in
the
FAQ section at the end of this guide.
I also include a list of Gen III and IV games you can import Pokmon
from.
You shouldn't need this for the ones in section 2a, and I wasn't going to
include that info at first, but I think the guide is more complete with it
being there for everything. Remember that to transfer from Gen III, you must
first send it to Gen IV. Black and White are incompatible with the GBA games.
"Dongle" refers to having the GBA game inserted in the DS while playing D/P/Pt
to add special wild encounters. It's also known as the insertion method.
If you are playing in isolation, or even if you aren't, don't be too
hasty
to gloss over the sections dedicated to version exclusives or the White
Forest.
As long as you have wifi access, you should actually be able to get all of
those Pokmon as well, by using the Dream World. In fact, the only Pokmon
from
Generations 1-4 that cannot be found in the Dream World are the starters,
legendaries, the Pichu family, the Porygon family, and Unown. For more info on
the Dream World, check Section 3a. All these awkward ways of obtaining Pokmon
make counting up a definite list for how many can be obtained in one game
alone
a difficult task, but I've done my best. This total can be found in the FAQ
in section 7.
2a) Available in both games normally

usually have a different ability from normal, so it's worth finding them even
if you can catch them in the main game.
But unfortunately, not all of the missing Pokmon can be found this way,
and so you'll have to resort to importing and trading for the rest. The
Dream World technically has the potential to hold different Pokmon whenever
the developers feel like changing it, but this guide has updated the info
whenever they have, and so far there's been no cases of Pokmon being added or
dropped unexpectedly. Do keep in mind that the Japan-only area called the
Caf Forest is not listed as a location in this guide, as it was only
available
for a limited time, and I'm focusing mainly on the English versions.
Note that the PokTransfer used to move Pokmon from Gen IV to Gen V is
only accessible after beating the Elite 4. It is located on Route 15, and you
need to have two DS systems to use this. The Relocator in Castelia City can be
used much earlier, but it only works for the shiny legendary beasts and
Celebi.
Pokmon not in the Unova Dex can be traded in from another Black or White game
at any time.

_________________
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -| Event Pokmon |- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
In a somewhat annoying trend, Pokmon games have always had at least one
species that you can't obtain normally in the games. I respect this to some
extent, since it makes these Pokmon rarer than other "rare" ones that you can
still find once per game/file, but it also seems to encourage cheating for
those who can't attend the events or don't want to be bothered playing through
a spin-off title that they don't actually enjoy, simply for one extra Pokmon.
The title "event Pokmon" is actually somewhat misleading, since a good
portion
of them can be found in spin-off games, but the term is generally accepted.
Luckily, a good portion of these aren't needed for the game to consider
the National Pokdex complete. Going by this list, all the Pokmon in list 4a
are required (as they can be found normally in at least one game), and most of
the ones in list 4b are not required. The exceptions are Zorua and Zoroark,
probably because they are not legendary and can be bred, allowing for easy
mass
distribution through online trading.
This guide does not list every event giveaway for every Pokmon (for
instance, getting Manaphy from Toys R Us instead of the Ranger games), because
they differ between countries greatly, and there's no way to access those
events anymore. Nearly every event Pokmon has been handed out at one point or
another, so if only a spin-off game is listed as a location, I'm not denying
the existence of the giveaways, I'm just choosing to not list them. Events
specifically for Black and White that are available outside of Japan are noted
throughout the guide.
4a) Found through events in some games and normally in others
==============================================================================
=
249
*(Lugia)
Found in XD, HeartGold, and SoulSilver without events.
To purify XD's Shadow Lugia, you need all 9 purification chambers to be
running
at max efficiency. No other requirements exist.
Requires MysticTicket to access Navel Rock in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald.
The ticket was distributed in physical events and cannot be shared.
==============================================================================
=
250
*(Ho-oh)
Found in Colosseum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver without events.
Can be won as a prize in Colosseum after completing Battle Mode's 100-battle
challenge. You must use a team registered from Colosseum's Story Mode party,
not straight from a GBA game. It's fine to use Pokmon traded from a GBA game,
they just need to be in the Colosseum team. You must also have all 48 Shadow
Pokmon caught and purified.
Requires MysticTicket to access Navel Rock in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald.
The ticket was distributed in physical events and cannot be shared.

Latias found in Sapphire, Emerald (if chosen), and HeartGold without events.
Latios found in Ruby, Emerald (if chosen), and SoulSilver without events.
Requires Eon Ticket to access Southern Island in R/S/E. (Holds one not
roaming)
The Eon Ticket was distributed through an e-Reader card and real-life events.
It can be shared through mixing records, but only by the original owner.
Requires Enigma Stone in HG/SS. (Activates one not roaming)
The Enigma Stone was distributed over wi-fi.
==============================================================================
=
483

484
*(Palkia)
487
*(Giratina)
Found in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum without events, but requires the Regi
trio transferred from R/S/E. Trio also available in Platinum, but requires
event Regigigas mentioned in their event info above. With the event one
already owned, catching the other Regigigas unlocked by it is somewhat
redundant, but the option exists.
==============================================================================
=
4b) Found only through events and/or side games
==============================================================================
=
[ ][ ] 151
* Mew
Requires Old Sea Map to access Faraway Island in Emerald.

==============================================================================

[ ][ ] 251
* Celebi
Gift from Colosseum bonus disc (Japanese version only).
Disc was obtained by pre-ordering the game, and Celebi is only transferable to
Ruby or Sapphire after catching and purifying all Shadow Pokmon in Colosseum.
In all other regions, only available through handout events.
==============================================================================
=
[ ][ ] 385
* Jirachi
Gift from Colosseum bonus disc (North American version only).
Disc was obtained by pre-ordering the game, and Jirachi is only transferable
to Ruby or Sapphire, but no other requirements are needed.
Gift from Pokmon Channel (European and Australian versions only).
Transferable to any Gen III game.
==============================================================================
=
[ ][ ] 386
* Deoxys
Requires AuroraTicket to access Birth Island in FireRed, LeafGreen, and
Emerald
The ticket was distributed in physical events and cannot be shared.
Available through a bonus mission in Pokmon Ranger Guardian Signs. The
mission
was downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is not sharable. It
is a multiplayer mission and thus requires at least two people with the game
to
play it. Only the group leader keeps the Deoxys.
Alternate form notes
490
Manaphy Eggs available from all three Ranger games. In the original, all that
is required for the mission is a special code, but each copy of Ranger can
only
send one Egg, even if the game is restarted. In Shadows of Almia and Guardian
Signs, the mission was downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and
is
not sharable.
==============================================================================

Requires Member's Card to access New Moon Island in Platinum.
The card was distributed through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is not
sharable. New Moon Island can also be reached in Diamond and Pearl, but only
through the "tweaking" glitch, which can damage your game if done incorrectly.
Available through a bonus mission in Pokmon Ranger Shadows of Almia. The
mission was downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is not
sharable.
Darkrai was also given out through a wi-fi event in Black and White for a
limited time.

The letter was distributed through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is not
sharable. Flower Paradise can also be reached in Diamond and Pearl, but only
through the "tweaking" glitch, which can damage your game if done incorrectly.
Available through a bonus mission in Pokmon Ranger Guardian Signs. The
mission
was downloaded through wi-fi, is no longer available, and is not sharable.
Alternate form notes

[ ][ ] 493
* Arceus
Requires Azure Flute to access Hall of Origin in D/P/Pt.
The flute was never distributed in any way, and the Hall of Origin can only be
reached through hacking. Arceus has only been available through handouts.
There was also a Pokmon popularity poll, where the winner would be given out
over the Dream World. Arceus was the winner of the poll in all participating
countries (except Korea, where Rayquaza won), and thus was available for a
limited time.
Alternate form notes
Draco
put some in your party and those will remain in the original game.
As the only non-legendary event Pokmon, these are significantly easier to
come
across even if you missed the events needed to unlock them. Both can be seen
in-game (Zorua in Castelia City, Zoroark in the final battle against N), and
so
can be requested on the GTS, as long as people aren't asking for ludicrous
trades. They can both be bred, and the in-game Zoroark is always female,
meaning Ditto isn't even required.
Zoroark was also obtainable through a Toys R Us event for a limited time.
==============================================================================
=
[ ][ ] 153 / 647
* Keldeo
Keldeo was distributed as a giveaway event shortly before the release of Black
2 and White 2. It has not been given an in-game location.
Alternate form notes
the
City
The Shock and Burn Cassettes (in Black) and Douse and
Chill Cassettes (in White) can be found by showing
Genesect to a scientist in the P2 Laboratory. These
change the type of its Techno Blast move, but that's
the only change.

Well, that concludes the portion of the guide that lists every Pokmon
and
all of their locations. But what if you're looking for a list of which Pokmon
are in a specific location? You could search through the entire guide, which
is
incredibly inconvenient (especially if you're looking for a Route, because
those are listed by number only and doing a search would return a million
results)... or you could look in this part. It's almost like it's convenient
or
something.
This part of the guide should be fairly self-explanatory. Just jump to
the
location you want to check, and all the Pokmon you can find are listed
vertically from common to rare. Going across the chart horizontally are the
different conditions you can find them in. This includes basic grass, surfing,
and the like, as well as the special spots explained at the top of the guide.
Each location is listed in the order that you pass through them during a
normal playthrough of the game. Whenever a certain badge, HM, or other event
is required for a location to be accessible, this will be noted. This will
also
apply to all locations further on in the list, obviously.
In some areas, you'll need an HM before you can access some spots (for
example, the double battle grass on Route 1 requires Surf), and these will
also
be noted. For areas affected by seasonal changes (Winter being the only one
with changes to the wild Pokmon), the area will be listed twice for the sake
of cleaner organization.
In the case of Basculin, it is only listed as one entity for each
location
it can be found in. Remember that in Black, the red form is found through
normal Surfing and fishing, whereas in White, the blue form is found that way.
To find the other form, just check the whirlpools. The formatting here lists
"Whirl" twice - the first one refers to Surfing; the second one fishing.

Details are confusing, but explained as well as I can manage in the FAQ at the
end of the guide.
I've listed these areas immediately after N's Castle in the guide because it's
a good idea to check them out as soon as possible. The trainers will leave the
city / forest if not talked to for a certain number of days, and the countdown
begins as soon as the game is started, long before you have access to them.
The guide will now begin going through the remaining areas in a clockwise
fashion, continuing the way you progressed through the game previously.

Unlike the other sections that tell where to find Pokmon, this section
lists items needed for evolution and breeding pre-evolutions. Some of them can
be hard to find, so I felt that in order to effectively show where and how to
obtain all Pokmon, all steps that are not immediately obvious must be
explained.
Locations for items can include simply lying around, invisible on ground,
a dust cloud in any cave (the same kind that hides Drilbur/Excadrill), a gift
from an NPC, bought at a shop, collected randomly through the PickUp ability
(which has different items available depending on the level of the Pokmon

_______________________________
- - - - - - - - - - - - | Frequently Asked Questions | - - - - - - - - - -
Now the list section of the guide is complete, and it's time for me to
attempt to explain some of the more complex or at least poorly explained game
mechanics. Even if you're comfortable with the majority of the game, it's
worth
at least skimming through this section, because you just might learn
something.

Q: What is the total number of Pokmon you can catch in one game without
connecting to any other games or getting any from events?
A: This is a tricky question, because the White Forest is so unreliable and
random, and the Dream World is in a gray area as far as isolation rules are
concerned. But as it's not technically another game and you can collect
more
Pokmon from it without another DS or game, it should count. So here are my
findings.
Black: 332 Pokmon normally available, boosted to 534 with Dream World.
White: 378* Pokmon normally available, boosted to 535* with Dream World.
*
92
with
The Dream World covers the vast majority of the White Forest exclusives
(all but the Porygon family, which evolves by trade twice, and
therefore
only counts as one Pokmon in isolation mode). So if you do happen to
get Porygon in the White Forest, then your total with Dream World
access
would only increase by 1, since everything else is already covered.
==============================================================================
=
Q: How do I get special spots to appear?
A: The special spots (shaking grass, swirling dust, a whirlpool/dark water
spot, or a bridge shadow) appear when you've taken a certain number of
steps
in the area. This number is probably randomized, because sometimes they
will
appear rather quickly, and sometimes it can take several minutes. The best
thing to do is simply bike back and forth next to the grass, water's edge,
etc, and wait for one to show up. You'll hear a sound when it does. If
you're in a cave, it's best to put up Repels for obvious reasons.
==============================================================================
=
Q: I still can't get a special spot to appear.
A: Do you have the first badge? You can't get them until then. It's also
possible that you already triggered another spot somewhere far away from
where you're standing, but still within the same location. You can only
have
one special spot active in an area, and each type of spot will prevent
others from appearing. (For example, if you want to find shaking grass, but
you already have a whirlpool in the water, the grass won't shake until the
whirlpool goes away.) Just trigger a battle or enter/exit a house or
something to make it go away.
==============================================================================
=
Q: What is the best way to find evolution stones?
A: Unfortunately, stones are somewhat hard to come across in these games. The
first thing you'll want to do is check your Black City or White Forest
inhabitants with the item location list (Section 6), and see if you have
any
available there. White Forest items will appear in item balls on the ground
daily, but there is no way to control which items will appear, or how many.
That aside, the only real way to get them is to stock up on repels and bike
around inside a cave, checking every dust swirl you find. You'll mostly
find
Drilbur or Excadrill and the various type-boosting Gems, but evolution
stones will appear too.
==============================================================================
=
Q: How can I quickly raise happiness to evolve a Pokmon?
A: Vitamins (Protein, Iron, etc) will raise happiness a fair amount, but those
are quite expensive. You can also use the EV-reducing Berries (Pomeg,
Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa, and Tamato), but those are only found in the
Dream World (Windswept Sky, to be specific), and you have to use quite a
number of them before happiness is raised enough to evolve.
The best way that I've found is to simply level up a bunch of times. When I
wanted to evolve Togepi, I gave it a Soothe Bell and took it to the Giant
Chasm along with a couple Graveler. I found an Audino and sent out Togepi,
then switched to the Graveler and attacked it a couple times, then used
Self-Destruct. Because the Graveler fainted, all of the experience went to
Togepi, and it gained over twenty levels at once, evolving immediately.
Catching these Pokmon with a Luxury Ball also helps. And if your Pokmon
is already at too high of a level to gain any more quickly (or if you don't
want to gain a bunch of levels at once), you can just bike around with it
for around 10-20 thousand steps. With the Soothe Bell, of course.
==============================================================================
=
Q: When is the earliest I can trade?
A: Trading is available as soon as you get the first badge, and this applies
to
both local and wireless trades. It should also be noted that you can
receive
older-generation Pokmon at any time through trades, but transferring them
yourself from Gen IV games isn't possible until you've beaten the game,
aside from Celebi and the shiny Raikou, Entei, and Suicune you can send
through the Relocator (explained in Zorua/Zoroark's details in section 4b).
==============================================================================
=
Q: Why am I unable to unlock Zorua or Zoroark?
A: There could be several reasons for this. The Celebi and shiny beasts can
only be used to activate the event once. Not once per game, but once
permanently. Trading an already-used Celebi/beast to another game will not
activate it for that game... in fact, I'm not sure if it would work anyway.
From what I've heard, they will only activate the event in the game they
were first transferred to.
There are also rumors going around (even on Serebii.net) that ONLY the
Relocator can be used, but apparently the Pokshifter works just as well.
If
you're paranoid, just use the Relocator, but either should work.
Also, the Celebi/beast must be of the same language as the game it's being
sent to. A Japanese Celebi will not activate the event on an English game,
for instance. And if hacking was involved at any point, there's a chance of
it not working if the correct flags were not added. Don't hack plz, kthx.
==============================================================================
=
Q: Briefly explain the Black City / White Forest.
A: These are version-exclusive areas that grow as you connect with other
games.
The Black City contains trainers with final evolutions of Pokmon that you
can battle for money and exp, and there are also items that you can buy.
The
White Forest contains people who don't really do much, but their presence
lets you find basic forms of Pokmon in the wild. Items will also appear
randomly on the ground, but not in any sort of reliable fashion. There are
30 different trainers, and each can appear in either game, always being
linked to one specific Pokmon family. For example, Schoolkid Leo will
fight
you with a Pidgeot in Black, and trigger wild Pidgey in White.
==============================================================================
=
Q: So... what determines which trainers I have in my Black City / White
Forest?
A: As far as I'm aware, this is completely random, and is decided at the start
of the game. I've heard that you always begin with ten trainers, but I've
also heard that this number is random, so I'm not sure which it is. What I
do know, however, is that the game starts counting days as soon as you
start
your file, and every day that passes will cause these trainers to lose 5
points. When they reach 0 points, they will leave.
==============================================================================
=
Q: What's this about points, now?
A: Every trainer has a predetermined number of points (usually 30 or 70), and
when this number reaches 0, they will leave your area. You can see how many
points everyone has on Serebii's page on this subject*. Everyone will lose
5 points for each day that passes without you entering the area, and will
gain 3 if you visit. Plus, talking to the White Forest people will give
them
an extra 10 points per day, and battling the Black City people will add 7.
You can manipulate these values to make some people leave, while keeping
others. You can tell if a trainer is about to leave if they start talking
about wanting to visit the other version's area, and in White, they will no
longer mention a specific Pokmon.
* - http://serebii.net/blackwhite/blackcitywhiteforest.shtml
==============================================================================
=
Q: I've been visiting my Forest / City regularly, but everything is gone!
A: Maybe you messed with the DS clock, or put your game in a different system
than usual. I'm not sure if this will instantly clear out your area, but
it's generally not a good idea to do this. If you save within the area and
then mess with the clock, the area will stay the way it was, but as soon as
you leave and come back, it could be deserted. If this happens to you and
you're positive that you didn't change the time or system, then I have no
valid explanation, but I've seen it happen anyway.
On the flip side, you may have problems getting people to leave. If you
have
and area with the max of 10 people and you've waited a very long time
without visiting, hoping for them to go away, you probably have a full
"graveyard" (details on this are in a later answer). So try migrating a few
of them out of your game and waiting one more day.
==============================================================================
=
Q: I don't have any water in my White Forest, what's that all about?
A: Honestly, I have no idea. Ponds are supposed to appear in the forest as it
grows, much like more trees and grass patches appear. But sometimes it just
won't give you any water at all, even if you've hit the maximum occupancy
of
ten trainers. You might be able to get some to appear if you have some of
the people leave and then invite new ones, but I can't promise anything.
The
old man who requests to see Pokmon will still claim that you can find the
water-dwellers, even if you have no water, so that's somewhat irritating.
==============================================================================
=
Q: How do I get more people to visit my Forest / City?
A: The short answer is that you have to connect to the opposite version using
Entralink and talk to the other player's residents and see if they will
come
with you. You can have a maximum of ten trainers in your area, not counting
the people indoors or the unnamed ones who don't do anything.
To be more specific, each game has a secondary version of the Forest/City
that is only viewable through another player connecting to your game via
Entralink. I refer to this grayscale version as the "graveyard". You begin
the game with some people already in your graveyard, and these don't
actually appear in the area that you can access yourself - they exist to be
sent to someone else's game. When a person runs out of points, they will
move to the graveyard, and then can be picked up by another player. Once
they run out of points on that game, they will go into the graveyard again
and can be picked up by anyone, including you.
Note that if a trainer migrates to another game, and the receiving game
saves but the giving game does not, the trainer has effectively been cloned
and now exists in both games. The reverse is also true - if the giving game
saves and the receiving game does not, then neither game will have the
trainer. Be careful when doing stuff like this if you don't want to lose
access to certain Pokmon.
One last thing - I could be wrong, but I believe I've had experiences where
a trainer in the graveyard refuses to migrate to my game despite there
being
plenty of room, and no duplicate copy of that person on my game. If this
happens, I don't know how to fix it, because I don't understand why it
occurred in the first place. All I can suggest is to try and clear up some
more space.
==============================================================================
=
Q: OK, but how do I use the Entralink?
A: The Entralink is an area that is only reachable by tapping the Entralink
button on the C-Gear's Wireless section. Once you warp there, there's not
much you can do unless you're within close range of another player who also
has their C-Gear turned on. They also must be in Nimbasa City or further
(basically, the ring of cities and routes surrounding the Entralink). When
you stand on either of the bridges in this area, the game will search for
a game to connect to, and once it finds one, you walk through the barrier
and can now visit the areas in their game. While here, you can complete
missions or mess with the Black City / White Forest. I won't be explaining
the missions here, because it has nothing to do with catching Pokmon, and
that's the focus of this guide.
==============================================================================
=
Q: How do I get Pokmon from the Dream World?
A: First you'll need to register an account for the Pokmon Trainer Club on
pokemon.com. This is free, and only requires an email address. Once you
have
this account and have activated it through your email, go to pokemon-gl.com
(The Global Link website) and sign in, creating a new screen name
specifically for the Global Link. Then you'll need to put a Pokmon to
sleep
in your game and you can proceed to the Dream World.
==============================================================================
=
Q: Put a Pokmon to sleep?
A: You do this by going to the C-Gear's only Online option, "Game Sync". If
you
have a working wi-fi connection, you can then send your save file to the
Global Link website (which takes a few minutes), and it will ask if you
want
to tuck in a Pokmon. Select whatever you want, and after a few more
minutes
it will be sent to the Dream World. You are also given a game sync ID that
you must enter on the Global Link website, so that it will know what file
is linked to your account.
==============================================================================
=
Q: I still haven't done anything in the Dream World yet though.
A: Well, now you can, because it should be all set up. On the Global Link
website, click the big button that says Pokmon Dream World, and assuming
everything goes well, you'll be able to enter it. The Dream World is a
Flash
based, almost facebook-app-ish game that you can use to send items and
Pokmon to your DS game. Fennel does a good enough job explaining
everything
in the tutorials, so hopefully I shouldn't have to reiterate that here.
Just
remember that you can only connect to the Dream World once per day (even if
you've registered both Black and White to the Global Link). And if you're
having trouble connecting, the site might just be experiencing heavy
traffic
so you should try again a little while later, or wait another day. Also,
you
only get one hour in the Dream World per day, but this is plenty of time.
==============================================================================
=
Q: Explain the Island of Dreams a bit more.
A: You can access the Island of Dreams every day. While there, you explore an
area for a total of ten screens until you reach the Tree of Dreams. Along
the way, check for items (click sparkling areas) and wild Pokmon (click
shaking stuff). Each Pokmon you find will want to play a minigame, and if
you complete it (it's usually not very hard), it will wait for you at the
Tree at the end. Once you reach the tree, you can choose to return home and
go through the areas again to find more stuff. Eventually you'll stop
finding anything, so offer a Berry to one of the Pokmon at the Tree, and
it
will be sent to your Friend Board and will appear in your game once you
wake
up.
==============================================================================
=
Q: How do I wake up and find my Pokmon?
A: This really should be explained in the tutorials, but fine. When you're
done
for the day, click the power button in the upper-right corner of the Dream
World game (do not just close your browser), and then back in your DS game,

game refuses to send any more, but once you catch them, you can continue to
