MMST
MILITARY MALE SEXUAL TRAUMA

Military sexual trauma has struck lightening in the media. It takes lightening or an
explosion to get any attention these days. Military sexual trauma is a serious problem
that has been ongoing for decades and way too late in getting recognized and validated
as real. This is coupled with a long standing problem in the Military that involves
denial, neglect, indifference, or outright threats of retaliation by Superiors.

MST is now in the open, high ranking military officers are shocked that it has been
happening for so long and gone on unnoticed.
Women who have been assaulted are now getting claims filed but evaluations must
include markers to prove that the person was truly assaulted, since most military
records are absent of the complaints.

What is still being neglected and denied, and in some ways presents a more complicated
picture of assault, is what I term MMST or Military Male Sexual Trauma.

Man on man sexual assault. A group of men sexually assaulting another man. Sexual
aggression. Sexual intimidation. Verbal sexual abuse. For most men this type of
assault results in severe psychological damage which includes shame and humiliation.
These men typically tell no one. Its like getting raped in the locker room in high school.
The abuser is always out there, and the Coaches call anyone who is different or who
complains as a sissy and many times encourages the abuse.
One Veteran told me after he reported the assault to his superiors, he was sent to a
military psychiatric hospital, diagnosed with a personality disorder and discharged.
End result for this Vet? No benefits. No VA disability. And no explanation in his
medical records where this personality disorder came from. Sounds like punishment.

PD (Personality Disorder) can be used as the illegal basis for incorrectly discharging
veterans suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain
Injury (TBI). The DoD considers PD a preexisting condition, and a PD diagnosis renders
veterans ineligible for several benefits. (Vietnam Veterans of America. March 22, 2012)

Why do men rape men?

Power and Control. Obedience. Alpha Male. I own you. Just like in prison,
heterosexual men rape heterosexual men for dominance and control, sometimes due to
anger and rage issues and sometimes just for sport. This is not a gay thing. Yes, gay
men do get raped by heterosexual men, but the overwhelming majority of rapists are
heterosexual. I dont actually know of any case that the military rapist was homosexual.

Along with the rape, many men suffer being beaten, raped with objects, and there is the
ongoing constant threat of being raped and beaten again. Every morning when that
soldier wakes up, the rapist is there: a fellow soldier, a sergeant, a commanding officer.
The victim has to live with that rapist every day, every night with the constant fear of
retaliation, abuse, or even the fear and humiliation of being found out. The victim can
not escape. That in itself can create panic, fear, depression and feelings of suicide. The
constant stress of

PTSD, depression, suicidal actions, nightmares and fears stay with these men after the
military. So many men suffer in isolation, fearful of telling anyone even their wife or
partner. It feels humiliating to tell. Many are so affected that they cant hold jobs, they
dont trust, they have underlying depression. There is a toxic river of shame,
humiliation, fear, powerlessness, vulnerability, and abandonment that flows inside,
which seeps and contaminates all areas of your life.

And there is no justice, and rapists get promoted in their ranks. The victim gets a
dishonorable discharge, denied benefits, and then suffers in isolation. Many kill
themselves.

If you are a victim of MMST I can help you with your claim. Even if you have been
denied and there is nothing in your records, I can help correct that. The time is NOW,
you have an advocate in your corner who knows how to get your symptoms validated
and supported in your claim so you can get the benefits and treatment that will help you
heal and survive. Dont allow the military to continue to bully you, or ignore you.
