STORAGEANDHANDLING
Storeunexposedfilmat75F(24C)orlowerintheoriginalsealedpackage.Forprotectionfromheatinareaswithtemperaturesconsistentlyhigherthan75F(24C),youcan
storethefilminarefrigerator.Iffilmhasbeenrefrigerated,allowthepackagetowarmuptoroomtemperaturefor2to3hoursbeforeopeningit.
Loadandunloadrollfilmcamerasinsubduedlight,andrewindthefilmcompletelybeforeunloadingthecamera.Totaldarknessisrequiredwhenyouremovefilmfromthe
magazineorloadandunloadfilmholders.
Forbestresults,processthefilmpromptlyafterexposure.Storeprocessedfilminacool,dryplace.
EXPOSURE
ThenominalspeedofKODAKTMAX100ProfessionalFilmisEI100.ItwasdeterminedinamannerpublishedinISOstandards.ExposingthefilmatEI100shouldusually
leadtotheminimumexposurerequiredtoproducenegativesofveryhighquality.(Seethetableattheright.)Thisfilmhasgoodlatitudeandrespondswelltochangesin
developmenttime.Forconsistentresults,usetheratedspeedormaketeststodetermineaspeedratingthatmeetsyourneeds.Forinformationonmethodsofdeterminingyour
bestexposureanddevelopercombination,seeKODAKPublicationNo.F5,KODAKProfessionalBlackandWhiteFilms.
WhenyouuseTMAX100Filmforreversalapplications,exposeitatEI50.Formoreinformationonreversalprocessing,seeKODAKPublicationNo.J87,KODAKTMAX100
DirectPositiveFilmDevelopingOutfit.
ThenominalspeedofKODAKTMAX400ProfessionalFilmisEI400.ItwasdeterminedinamannerpublishedinISOstandards.Becauseofitsgreatlatitude,youcan
underexposethisfilmbyonestop(atEI800)andstillobtainhighqualitywithnormaldevelopmentinmostdevelopers.Therewillbenochangeinthegraininthefinalprint,but
therewillbeaslightlossofshadowdetailandareductioninprintingcontrastofaboutonehalfpapergrade.
Whenyouneedveryhighspeed,youcanexposeTMAX400FilmatEI1600andincreasethedevelopmenttime.Withthelongerdevelopmenttime,therewillbeanincrease
incontrastandgraininesswithadditionallossofshadowdetail,butnegativeswillstillproducegoodprints.YoucanevenexposethisfilmatEI3200withalongerdevelopment
time.Underexposingbythreestopsandusingthreestoppushprocessingproducesafurtherincreaseincontrastandgraininess,andadditionallossofshadowdetail,butthe
resultswillbeacceptableforsomeapplications.
ThespeednumbersforthesefilmsareexpressedasExposureIndexes(EI).UsetheseexposureindexeswithmetersorcamerasmarkedforISO/ASAorISO/DINspeedsin
daylightorartificiallight.
Thedeveloperyouusetoprocessthesefilmsaffectstheexposureindex.Setyourcameraormeter(markedforISO/ASAorISO/DINspeeds)atthespeedforyourdeveloper
giveninthetable.
