of biowaste into the Nicola Valley. Or stop

The support is widening. The Union
of BC Indian Chiefs Grand Chief Stewart
Phillip has announced his support of the
Nicola Chiefs & protestors. And the Syilx
(Okanagan) Nation joins him in this.
Lower Nicola Chief Aaron Sam said:
"We're planning to stay here as long as it
takes until we get a moratorium on
biosolids coming in to the Nicola Valley.
Yesterday, they picketed in front of the
office and loaded in bedding & food
under the watch of the RCMP.
The bio waste operations affect our
Aboriginal Title & Rights. The Province
of British Columbia is obligated to consult and accommodate us in relation to
the impacts of bio waste operations on
our Rights and Title, said Chief Sam.

Blue Dot organizers in Merritt are

gearing up for an event on Sunday, April
19 at NVIT, from 1pm-3pm. This national
day of action is a way to show Canadians
that lasting change happens when everyday people come together. Environmental groups from the Nicola Valley will
talk about the importance of strong environmental policies and what they are
doing to help the community.
The idea is to entrench the right to
clean air, fresh water & healthy food at
each level of government, all the way up
to recognition in the Charter of Rights.
So far, 70,532 Canadians have joined
their local movement and 36 municipal
governments have passed declarations
recognizing the right to fresh air, clean
water, and healthy food. To sign up, go to
