Things you can do in Margarita

One of Margarita's best attractions is, with no doubt, the Lagoon of La Restinga National Park. You
ride in a boat through the mangroves and reach a very long beach. Do not miss there the opportunity to
have fish or seafood for lunch under a hut.

In Margarita you can enjoy all water sports. There is also an 18 holes golf course, and another one is
under construction. In Macanao you can even go horseback riding (Images).

Los Llanos - The Plains

Sunset in Camagun
One of the most beautiful regions in Venezuela is "los llanos", those huge plains where only the horizon
stops your sight. Both, the vegetation and the fauna are full of beauty. Several ecosystems will make a
trip to this region an unforgettable one.
In this region there are only two very different seasons, where life changes completely: Rainy and dry
season. In the first one, the woods, the rivers, the trees show all their beauty. A large part of the region
is under the water. In the second one the become yellow and brown, and the dust covers most part of
the plains, but that is when all the wildlife converges in the few spots where water is present. It is the
season where you can see more birds and animals. The difference between the two seasons is so big,
that you can't say that you know the "llanos" if you don't go in both periods.
Moving cattle is one of the most important duties in this region, where cattle breeding is the most
important economic activity.
There are many different animal species. In the rivers and ponds you can find crocodiles and toninas
(similar to dolphins), in the land deers, chigures (capybaras), jaguars and foxes, on the trees monkeys
and birds.
Summer (dry season) is the best moment for bird and watchers, because all the animals must go to the
few spots where the water is. Transportation in winter (rainy season) is also more difficult because
many roads are flooded under water. However in this season is when nature is more spectacular.

La Gran Sabana
La Gran Sabana (The great plain) is located inside Venezuela's biggest national park: Canaima, in the Bolivar
state south. It is an unique place with views that you will not see anywhere else in the world.
This national park has two very different parts: To the East you will find the Gran Sabana (described in this
page). To the West you will find the Angel falls and Canaima lagoon. There is a link at the end of this page.
East Sector
The Gran Sabana has plenty of rivers and waterfalls. Here is just a small sample.

Kavanayen & Santa Elena de Uairen
The Gran Sabana has a very small population. There are some missions like Kavanayen (top left). Further south
is Santa Elena de Uairen, the last Venezuelan village before entering Brazil.
How to get there
You need to take the road that goes from El Dorado to Brazil. The road is paved and in good conditions.
However to reach the most interesting places (like some waterfalls) a 4 wheel traction is recommended. Some
other places like Kavac must be reached by air. We can organize your excursion to the Gran Sabana.
