HERKIMER, NY The Herkimer Generals mens lacrosse team added more accolades to their successful
2015 campaign with sophomores Austin Loeffel, Nashwan Hoffman and Kyle Lee earning second team
All-Region honors.
Loeffel - a resident of Red Hook, NY and Business: Sports & Recreation Management major at
Herkimer College - took over as the full-time starter after sharing time his freshman year. He rewarded
Head Coach Jamie Ireland with over 20 saves in his first four games of the season, stopping 21 against
Dean College in a 10-9 win, then beat that amount with 28 against ranked SUNY Delhi in a 10-6 win.
Loeffel averaged a 76.98 save percentage in his first five games which helped the Generals to a No. 7
national ranking, holding their first seven opponents under 10 goals. He finished the season 9-3, capturing
his last win in an overtime win in the Region III quarterfinals. Loeffel allowed only 10 goals in almost 64
minutes of play, totaling 13 saves which helped the Generals to their first playoff victory in a couple
seasons.
Hoffman - a resident of Kingston, NY and Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at
Herkimer College - has been a mainstay on defense since coming in as a freshman. His consistency
helped the Generals win their most games in a season during the Coach Ireland era, allowing 10 goals or
less in all nine wins. His 102 ground balls - 52 as a freshman and 50 as a sophomore - was tops on the
team, taking two of them to the offensive end and scoring. Hoffman finished with two goals and three
assists.
Lee - a resident of Cincinnati, OH and Business: Sports & Recreation Management major at
Herkimer College - again led the Generals in goals with 43 in 12 games, totaling 73 in two seasons with
the Generals. His 43 goals was the fifth most goals scored in the nation, held scoreless in one game in

2015 and three in 23 games for Herkimer in two seasons. Helping Lee to those totals was career-high
performances against Hudson Valley and Niagara in the latter part of the spring. Lee scored eight goals in
a 27-6 victory over the Panthers, then topped that with 11 against the Thunderwolves, helping the
Generals to their season-best seventh consecutive win of the season. Previous to those two games, the
most goals Lee scored was five.
All three sophomore are deserving of the mention they received from their piers this season,
said Head Mens Lacrosse Coach Jamie Ireland. Austin is the anchor of our defense. Nash is the tone
setter and Kyle is the finisher. Without them, this team does not have the success it did in 2015. Its an
honor to be their coach, and I wish them all success at the next level!
