Shifting the View of Christianity on Campus

The civic issue I see that concerns me the most is how Christianity is being perceived on
campus. I have heard stories of a man named Brother Michael stationed by the reflection pond
who would shout at woman youre going to hell because you wearing shorts or if you have
had premarital sex youre going to hell. Recently I have seen another guy with a sort of troupe
of cameramen who right outside of my beloved Chick-fi-la yells through a megaphone how God
hates the homosexuals and if you have had premarital sex you will go to hell. He shouts his
contorted opinions on the students and expects them not to get riled up with anger. People like
this can make students shut off to the idea of Christianity, and eventually to Christian people.
When they look at us all they will see will be the words shouted at them from a megaphone. I
want to shift their perspective. I want to show students on campus that not all Christians are selfrighteous and judgmental. Many of us are welcoming, we value opinions that differ from us, and
we arent here to condemn but to be friendly, and to be an open ear.
I will research this civic issue by finding videos, books, and visiting google.com/scholar
on the subject. I will hold surveys to get the UCF student input on the topic.

Honestly I dont really see a solution but I see a way that Christians can be a light in the
midst of all the people who are Christians but are approaching people in a rough listen to me
or die manner. I go to a Christian club called ENCM (Every Nation Campus Ministry) and they
do tabling and a method called the Godtesting they are able to meet people where they are.
They welcome everyone whether youre a Christian or not. They approach people with calmness
and authentic sincerity. They do not shove their opinions down your throat but they allow for
open discussions. Every Monday they table across from the hypocritical preacherman in front
of the Chick-fi-la. They go to each student who sits/stands in front of the Chick-fi-la preacher
and they tell them that that man is wrong & that God didnt come to condemn or judge but to
save. They are hoping to put up an event together called got questions on campus where the
students can come in and ask whatever they want.
I will be using a video to address this issue. I will interview non-believers to get their
perspective on the self-righteous preachers on campus. I want to get how it makes them feel
towards Christianity as a whole collective. I want to interview about 4 prominent Christian
organizations on campus to see what they will do to combat the aggressive condemning
preachers on campus.
