General Election comes to Christs

On Tuesday Christs hosted a Question Time between three of the
candidates for the Richmond Park and North Kingston constituency. Zac
Goldsmith was unavailable, due to a diary clash, so the floor was left to the
Green Party candidate Andree Frieze, Liberal Democrat Robin Melzer, and
Labours Sachin Patel.
Government and Politics student Ellie Mylles moderated the 45 minute long debate, with questions from
the audience, which comprised all lower sixth students, year 11 GCSE citizenship students, and some
very keen year 9s!
The debate covered the environment, votes at 16, immigration, the voting system. However it was most
lively following a superb question from Harley McGlynn in year 11 that led to a passionate consensus on
the deeply irresponsible and ignorant view from Russell Brand that people should not vote.
Perhaps demonstrating why any political debate needs a balanced and broad spectrum of political views;
nonetheless we thank the candidates for their time and support, and wish all candidates good luck over
the final week of campaigning.

The Year 7 French Trip

The French trip was immensely fun and amazing. Not only did we have the chance to make new friends and learn French but
we also had the opportunity to participate in a number of engaging activities. We got a chance to buy fresh ingredients for
our own sandwich, visited the Bayeux Tapestry, and went to a goat farm! All the activities were so much fun and kept us
occupied for hours.
When we were not out on trips we were at the grande ferme doing tons of activities like football & table tennis with
everyone. The evening activities were different because they required the whole group, which was a lot of fun because we did
treasure hunts, quizzes and lots more.
Rooms varied in size and shape, but one thing they had in common was they were all very spacious and cosy. Bed time was
10pm with breakfast and dinner at the grande ferme. We chose a sandwich which was our lunch through the week, but we
also got a biscuit or some crisps.
The French trip was a very wonderful and engaging trip, and it will create beautiful memories which will blossom for years to
come.

Plus many, many more. Come

& get them.!!

This is a really fun day out for the whole family and the
PTA will once again be hosting the Christs School
Marquee. We need to organise an adult and childrens
tombola, a silent auction, burgers, tea, cakes, plants and
more. Its a great way to advertise our school to the local
community. Please contact janeefitch1@gmail.com if you
would like to be involved. Your support is greatly
appreciated.

Our quote for the week:

...No eye has seen, no

ear has heard, no mind
has imagined what
God has prepared for
those who love him.
1 Corinthians 2:9

God of Thomas,
Help me not to fear doubt;
To ask the difficult questions which concern me;
And to understand the Truth will always be more
than I can ever fully grasp.
Amen
