Television is something that people can live without.1A I personally have not found
happiness in watching television and I do not see a need for it in my life. Arguments against this
ideology have been made with the basis that the news is what is mainly watched.2 Now, with the
help of the internet, we do not need to be glued to a television set to find out the latest news. You
can simply look up your local news channel and be able get the latest news within seconds.3 In
my younger years, I knew that the right place to look for current events was the internet, not
television. In moments of crises or bad weather I knew that the channels would be showing their
usual shows, but the internet would show me where the crisis was or the radar of the large storm
outside.4 The most visible part about owning televisions is that they collect dust.1B They
constantly need to be cleaned since they are left untouched other than for turning on the set.2 If
they also held a visual appeal similar to decorations, then could they have some redeemable
qualities. Decorations could be placed instead of the television but it, like in our lives, takes up
too much space.3 Juggling our values and priorities of things in our lives may be a harder
challenge for some than for others.4 If time management and prioritizing is a problem, then
television will not help.1C Television channels live on a completely different schedule than we do
and the simple daily things cannot be done without sitting in front of a television set.2 Also, they
air the most popular things in your area instead of the most informative or useful shows. This
causes for enormous amounts of time wasted while waiting for different things and not to count
commercials about things the general public do not need.3 People often get caught up in the
fantasy life of television shows and put their own lives in second place including family, friends,
work, or even themselves.4 In short, the television has not and will not be a priority in the

spectrum of humankind.5 That is not to say that television should not be used to reach other
people but for the person who is a reaching hand, it may not be the best choice. It all comes
down to where priorities must be placed and what we should sacrifice in order to help others in
real matters of this world.
