Christs Year 7/8 Cricketers lost narrowly by

two runs in this low scoring game against Sir
Richard Reynolds School on the picturesque
Twickenham Green. In what should have been a
routine win, Christs found themselves faltering
with the bat as the top three batsmen failed to
make an impact on the humble target of 49.
Charlie Marshall top scored with 22 runs,
winning him Man of the Match; but it was too
little too late as his teammates failed to equal
his innings. Next up: Twickenham Academy.

Well done to the junior rounders team who lost

a close game against Teddington this week.

Three Workshop
50 year 10 students attended the interactive workshops
organised by Three. The presentations covered a number of
different spheres of employment within the mobile phone industry
including marketing, finance, digital design and network
engineering. The students had the opportunity to spend about 20
minutes in each of the sessions where two presenters outlined the
work of their department and then gave the students a real life
task associated with the work such as creating a new ap for the
company.
Students gained a useful insight into the telecommunications
industry and the department structure of a large
corporation. We also hope it helped widen their views on future
career paths and other opportunities.

Building a Car for the Future
60 year 9s spent last Thursday designing and building a Super
Capacitor Powered Vehicle. Working in teams, they had to build
a chassis to hold the motor, choose suitable wheels and a
gearing system and then cost the parts used. The finished
vehicles were all timed over a straight-line course. Each team
had to present their work, creating a poster detailing how they
had arrived at their design. There were some great designs and
most of the cars also made it across the finishing line. We are
extremely grateful to the Smallpiece Trust for putting on the day.
This is a new and exciting initiative funded by the Richmond
Parish Lands Charity to inspire students to take up an engineering
career and it definitely lived up to its billing.

The Year 9 and 10 Brilliant Club students attended the graduation ceremony at Homerton College,
Cambridge University on Monday 11th May to collect their final assignment grades, receive feedback from
their assigned PhD tutor, meet campus staff and tour the University site. The students achieved some
outstanding final marks with many gaining a 1st or 2:1 for their 2000 word assignments, which were all
marked at Key Stage 5 level. The Brilliant Club staff stated that our students were an exceptionally hard
working cohort who exceeded all expectations.

Arthur Leech Year 10 Brilliant Club student:

The Brilliant Club was an amazing experience. As students we got to look around and experience two
different Russell Group universities in Royal Holloway (University of London) and Homerton College
(University of Cambridge). The program also gave us an insight into learning beyond school that was
something few of us had experienced before. On top of this we had the opportunity to work with a PHD
student who is a specialist in their area. Our tutor was an expert in nationalism, a topic we all really
enjoyed looking into and learning about.
I found it interesting to have a snapshot of university learning and to see how universities admission
systems work. I think this program massively helped our other school work as we became accustomed to
large word counts and writing long essays, this is what I will really take away from the experience as it
helped me to improve in my writing technique. In short, I think the Brilliant Club is literally brilliant and
would recommend it to any other student

Our Bible verse for the week:

Beloved, let us love one
another, for love is from
God, and whoever loves
has been born of God
and knows God.
1 John 4:7

God grant me
A healing touch in places of pain;
A calming touch in places of stress;
A generous touch in places of need;
A welcoming touch in places of isolation;
A hope-filled touch in places of despair;
And a loving touch in all places.
Amen
