TelePACE Studio Quick Start Guide

TelePACE Studio is the next generation of the TelePACE Ladder Logic programming
environment. Using the latest Windows technology TelePACE Studio provides an integrated
workspace for efficiently creating, editing, monitoring and debugging a TelePACE project.
A Ladder Logic program may be developed in any sequence. Best results, particularly for new
users, will be obtained using the following sequence:
Configure TelePACE workspace.
Create the Ladder Logic program.
Initialize controller.
Create the Register Assignment.
Create Ladder Logic Program.
Define the Communication Interface settings.
Write program to the controller.
Run and test program.

Configure TelePACE Workspace

The configuration of the TelePACE workspace involves setting views required to configure
the needed parameters for an application. The Default Layout contains all the views needed to
create a TelePACE project. The TelePACE workspace may be modified for personal use. See
the section Managing Views for information on customizing the TelePACE workspace.
Default Layout

The Default Layout button returns the TelePACE workspace to the default layout as shown
below.

The TelePACE workspace is fully configurable to meet the individual needs of users. Views
may be moved and docked into any position in the workspace. The Default layout button
provides a simple method to return the workspace to the default layout.
To restore the TelePACE default layout:
Click the Default Layout button. TelePACE workspace will rearrange itself to the default
layout. No project configurations are lost when the Default Layout button is used.

Managing Views

When TelePACE Studio is started for the first time it is opened with six default views in the
workspace, the Function_Block_Toolbox, Network_Canvas, Serial Port Settings, Register
Assignment, Tag Management, and Diagnostics. This is the Default Layout for TelePACE
Studio.
As described below, views can be arranged in any manner that suits the user. TelePACE
Studio is designed to be a flexible work environment and users are encouraged to modify the
workspace to meet their needs. When TelePACE is closed, the workspace layout is saved and
reused each time you open TelePACE. The layout settings are saved to a file named
TelePACEAppSettings.xml in the folder when TelePACE Studio is installed. This file is also
used by the other global settings like recently used files and the controller type of the last
project before closing the application.
Note: The Default Layout button located at the top right of the workspace returns the
workspace to the default layout.
By default, the Tags Management, Register Assignment, and Serial Port Settings views are
docked in the right pane of the TelePACE workspace as shown below. You can undock and
move these views to another location in the workspace and then re-dock them.

As other views are opened from the Ribbon Bar, they are added to the docked views. In the
figure below the Register Editor and Clock views have been added to the docked views.
Selecting the tab for the view opens the selected view.

Within the TelePACE environment, there are three view controls at the top of each view pane.
These controls are used to manage the position of the view or to hide the view when it is not
being used.
Menu Control

The menu control has selections for Hide, Floating and Auto Hide. In addition to selecting
the menu icon to open the menu, right clicking the view title bar opens the menu.
Hide
Selecting the Hide control closes the current view. Re-select the command to re-open the
view.
Floating
Selecting the Floating control undocks the view. When the view is undocked it can be moved
to any position in your workspace.

The Auto Hide control sets the tab selection to the right hand side of the views. Moving the
cursor over the tabs at the right hand side activates the selected view. The auto hide function
is available using the Auto Hide control. This is the thumbtack icon to the right of the menu
control.
