Photography, Business and Computer Training

In partnership with Art Creation Foundation for Children (ACFFC), the Zanmi Lakay team will be
continuing our unique program teaching business development and computer training to 35
transitional youth from Jacmel and Cite Soleil who are becoming talented photojournalists. Our
student postcard business is taking off with 10 beautiful images in a set and they are selling them
locally. We will concentrate on how to market and promote their work, and begin selling online
in the Fall. Our two top students have already been getting paid assignments. A small businessplanning workshop will be offered along with guest speakers. As our students begin aging out of
programs, your support helps us provide the resources and teach skills necessary for these young
adults to achieve their dreams of earning a living and contributing to their communities.
The Computer Lab we established at ACFFC has been running for one year! From its inception
last July, the Computer Lab has been active nonstop, and we're keeping it fully funded with
Internet and up to date software. New computers will be added next month. Volunteers visiting
in November 2014 and February 2015 cleaned and updated the computers teaching one on one
workshops with students. They love the access and of course many are on Facebook.

Zanmi Lakay's 10th Anniversary Gala - March 2015

Generosity was boundless and we give heartfelt thanks and love to our loyal supporters, generous
sponsors, and very dedicated Zanmi Lakay volunteers who made this celebration such a blast and
a great success! Special thanks to the Cobaltix crew, T-Rosemond and the Ital Souls, Craftsman +
Wolves, and DWT, and so many of you that donated to sponsor our programs! We appreciated
the lovely compliments on the work by our photo students too! The surprise appearances by
Rodolph and Joel Petion, two Haitian team members, put this party over the top. Mesi anpil!

Education for 50 students

The School Sponsorship Program we began in 2009 is almost at capacity for the 2015/2016
school year with close to 50 young students. We're hiring one of our own advanced
photojournalists, Djimmy Desulm, to assist Joel Petion, our Director in Haiti, with photos and
information for sponsors. School starts in September. Thanks to Avanse and all of our sponsors for
giving the gift of education! Please contact us if you are interested in sponsoring a child.

In Memorium with love

Jean Marc Veus - January 20, 1987 - March 11, 2015
Jean Marc was one of our boys. I knew him since he was 10 years old
first living in group homes and then on the streets. We helped him
finish school and get a safe place to live. He was finding his way.
On March 8, Jean Marc was in Cite Soleil at a Peace Concert with his
brother and friends who were in one of the bands. He was shot twice
in what they're calling gang violence, and died three days later.
James Lherisson - 1982-April 12, 2015
James was in my very first Photography Workshop at Lafanmi Selavi in 1997.
He had been sick but his death was unexpected. His wife died many years ago,
and he took took care of his two daughters and their grandmother. Zanmi Lakay
sponsors his daughters to go to school.
Zanmi Lakay donated to both memorial services.
