implicit acros s me dia. X-Me dia will s tudy, de s ign and de ve lop:
1) Effe ctive and e fficie nt ne w paradigms for knowle dge re trie val, s haring and re us e which e nable us e rs to de fine and
parame te riz e vie ws on the available knowle dge according to the ir ne e ds . Us e rs will be s upporte d by an anticipatory
s ys te m able to trace automatically the us e r profile and he lp focus ing in the large s e arch s pace .
2) Nove l and cutting-e dge knowle dge fus ion me thods to s upport knowle dge worke rs in making de cis ions whe n
confronte d with - pos s ibly contradicting - knowle dge de rive d from diffe re nt re s ource s .
3) Te chnique s able to re pre s e nt and manage (i) unce rtainty, (ii) trus t and prove nance as we ll as (iii) dynamic as pe cts of
knowle dge , in orde r to he lp us e rs balancing the ir judgme nt;
4)Robus t and s calable knowle dge acquis ition and data analys is tools ope rating acros s me dia boundarie s (te xt, image s
and data) to automatically cros s -re late and annotate te xt and image s with me tadata for e as ie r s haring and re trie val as
we ll as fos te ring inte gration with othe r re s ource s .
5) A me thodology and a te chnical infras tructure able to de live r knowle dge from acros s me dia to the knowle dge worke rs ,
taking into account the comple xity of managing diffe re nt me dia with diffe re nt s iz e of data.
6) A ge ne ric and fle xible archite cture allowing e nd us e rs to e as ily cus tomiz e it and inte grate it with the ir KM practice s
