My grandfather's clock was too large for the shelf,

2.
So it stood ninety years on the floor.
3. Reader 2
It was taller by half than the old man himself,
4.
Though it weighed not a pennyweight more.
5. Reader 3
It was bought on the morn of the day that he was
born
6.
And was always his treasure and pride,
7. All
But it stopped short-, never to go again,
8.
When the old man died.

It stopped -short-, never to go again,
When the old man died.

In watching its pendulum swing to and fro
Many hours had he spent while a boy,
5
And in childhood and manhood the clock seemed
And to share both his grief and his joy,
6
For it struck twenty-four when he entered the
With a blooming and beautiful bride,
But it stopped short-, never to go again,
When the old man died.

Reader 7
My grandfather said of those he could hire,
Not a servant so faithful he found,
Reader 8
For it wasted no time and had but one desire At the close of each week to be wound.
Reader 9
And it kept in its place, not a frown on its face,
And its hands never hung by its side,
All
But it stopped short-, never to go again,
When the old man died.

31.
Reader 10 It rang an alarm in the dead of night,
32.
An alarm that for years had been dumb,
33.
Reader 11 And we knew that his spirit was pluming for
flight,
34.
That his hour for departure had come.
35.
Reader 12 Still the clock kept the time with a soft and
muffled chime
36.
As we silently stood by his side,
37.
All
But it stopped short-, never to go again,
38.
When the old man died.

Who stole the birds nest?

To whit, to whit, to whee!

Will you listen to me?
Who stole four eggs I laid,
And the nice nest I made?
Bobolink, bobolink,
Now, what do you think?
Who stole the nest away
From the plum tree today?
Not I, said the cow, moo-oo!
Such a thing Id never do,
I gave you a wisp of hay,
But did not take you nest away.
Not I, said the dog, bow-wow!
I wouldnt be so mean, I trow,
I gave the hairs the nest to make,
But the nest I did not take.
Not I, said the sheep, oh, no!
I wouldnt treat a poor bird so,
I gave the wool the nest to line,
But the nest was none of mine.
Baa-aa, said the sheep, oh, no!
I wouldnt treat a poor bird so.
Cluck, cluck! said the hen,
Dont ask me again!
Why, I havent a chick,
That would do such a trick,
We all gave her a feather,
And she wove them together,
Id scorn to latrude,

On her and her brood!

Chirr-awhirr, chirr-awhirr!
Well make a great stir,
Let us find out his name,
And all cry, For shame!
I would not rob a bird,
Said little Mary Green,
I think I never heard
Of anything so mean,
T is very cruel, too,
Said Little Alice Neal,
I wonder if he knew
How bad the bird would feel!
A little boy hang down his head,
And went and bid behind the bed,
For he stole that pretty nest
From poor little yellow-breast,
And he felt so full of shame
He didnt like to tell his name.

Prettier Than a Flower

by: Dea Suryana
You wake up by the sun
Blooming like the prettiest flower
Smiling like today is your(s) day
As still as the cloud
You look upon the sky
Be prepared to face the world
Even though you dont know how to face this rough world
You start your first step day by day
As the sun shines the sky
Sometimes it is covered by the dark cloud
But you dont hang your golden up to the sun
You are not a flower
But you still a woman who admires a flower
You need someone who can protect you like the sky
Need someone who can give you strength like the sun
You dont like your past shades you like the cloud
You need your own world
To seize the day
Harmony of voices in the day
You want to reach the sun
You want to discover the world
You want to touch the sky
And you want to be pretty as a flower
White as the cloud
You dont think it is just (a) pie in the sky
You will tell the night and the day
Scream to the world
Or just whisper to the flower
I will get my head out of the cloud
Start to reach the sun

I awake by the sun and start my day

I look upon the sky and upon the cloud
I live in the world which adores the flower
