A man, FINNICK, kneels, hands clasped in prayer.

SPARROW, a woman stands far away.
SPARROW
In a deserted place, far from anywhere, is a place of stone and rock, jutting straight towards
the sky from the dust and sand below. There, in the heat of the day, kneels a rock, bent,
with what looks like hands, clasped in prayer. The praying rock. Stones crying out to
heaven. This rock is not carved, nor placed, nor moved, but has grown in this place. It has
become, over the passing years, burst forth from the land and shaped by shifting sands
blown by whirling winds. And it kneels. It kneels in humble prayer.
Finnick rises.
Sparrow kneels, then drops face down.
FINNICK
In a remote place by the sea, far from where seaside towns and ships travel, is a place
where the water meets the cliffs, ever rushing ever pressing against, tides and waves.
There, in the cool of the day, kneels, face down, what looks like a woman, bent low in
reverent prayer. The praying rock. A boulder, giving deference to the skies, bowing low
into the waves. This rock has not been molded by hands, but has become, as the years
have passed, weathered away by white waves and storms. And it kneels. It kneels in
humble prayer.
Sparrow rises.
Finnick and Sparrow come together, in a dance.
Finnick raises Sparrow, who reaches toward the sky.
Sparrow holds up Finnick, in an embrace.
Finnick and Sparrow part.
SPARROW
Those prayers
sent to the heavens
prayed by stones
and lifted high
eagerly
awaiting
a response from above

2.
FINNICK
And from above
the silent movement of clouds
racing across the reverent blue
the secret traveling winds
wash over the below
with shadows
and stillness
wordless response
of infinence
SPARROW
Of infinence
FINNICK
Eternally speechless
SPARROW
But continually present
FINNICK
These rocks
SPARROW
These stones
FINNICK
Praying their longing prayers
SPARROW
Praying their aching sorrows
FINNICK
Asking for relief
SPARROW
Begging for solace
Sparrow and Finnick get into their prayer poses.

3.
BOTH
Holding their stony poses
Until the sky rains down
its grace and mercy
in the response
of infinence
Lights down
End.
