The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is a
professional doctorate which offers students the

The course
The Doctorate in Business Administration curriculum includes the following courses:

The first six courses are taught in the first year and the remaining two at the beginning of the
second year. Students will spend the remainder of the second year working on their thesis under
the supervision of their Doctoral Supervisor. The course is normally of three years duration, but
students can submit their thesis any time after completing the second year.
How is the course organised?
Each subject lasts eight weeks. The taught component of the course is organised as a series of
online seminars. Prior to each seminar students will be given a few short papers or book extracts
to read and review. During the seminars they will be able to discuss these with tutors and fellow
students. Assessment will be based on the quality of student contributions to collaborative tasks
and group discussions.
Both onsite and distance learning students will make use of the co lleges state-of-the-art Virtual
Learning Environment (VLE), which is located at www.lgsm.info/moodle . This allows students to
access interactive e -learning materials, download papers and communicate with tutor s and other
students via online forums

Duration of Programme
This programme is a full-time course that is studied over three years, including a thesis.
Whats included?
All study materials and student handbooks are supplied. You will be allocated a personal
tutor for academic support who you can contact as often as you like by face to face
meetings and email. You will also have access to a student support co-ordinator for administrative
support.
Hours
You can expect to spend roughly 15 hours per week on course work. There will be a live online
seminar lasting three hours each week. This will be recorded to al low students who are unable to
attend while the seminar is taking place. Students can expect to spend at least another 5 6
hours online each week, contributing to forum discussions and reading online materials.

your degree certificate and a detailed CV. If you do not have a degree and wish to apply on the
basis of work experience, provide two suitable work references, preferably from managers, and
a detailed CV.

Who is qualified to apply for this course ?
Students

You should already have a Masters degree in Business or a related area. Candidates with a
Masters degree in another area may be admitted if they also have substantial management
experience.
The Degree does not need to be particularly subject related as long as the students previous
statement reflects his/her needs for change, no work experience is required .
Non English-speaking participants must speak English well enough in order to follow the courses
efficiently. Their level has to be proved by a minimum IELTS score of 7.0.
The programme will enable the students to obtain jobs as Executive Managers in either English speaking or multinatio nal companies, particularly those interested in the European markets, or
joint venture companies in the students home country. Our experience suggests that most
successful graduates will take up a management position in a joint venture company .

Executive Managers
This course is suitable for any Executive Manager wishing to increase his or her responsibilities
and skills in management or wishing to change career into new fields.
