Season 6 Episode 1

THE LONG NIGHT

At the Wall
The episode begins immediately after the stabbing of Jon Snow by his own men, as they
leave him to die alone. Ser Alliser orders Jons direwolf Ghost executed, but the direwolf
escapes from the mutineers and leaves Castle Black. Simultaneously, a blizzard strikes
the Wall, forcing both the Nights Watch and the Wildings to take refugee inside the
castle. The blizzard does not stop all night and continues the day after, when other
members of the Nights Watch discover Jons body. After they hold an urgency meeting,
they decide to push all the rescued wildings into Westeros to honour Jon, but to kill any
other wilding that comes from the north. They also decide to burn Jons body
immediately, but when leaving the meeting, they discover the room where Jons corpse
lies impossibly set on fire. When they extinguish the fire, the body is nowhere to be
found.
Meanwhile, news of Stannis defeat and death reach Castle Black, with details of Shireens
sacrifice. Davos Seaworth tries to kill Melisandre by choking her to death in her own
bedroom to take revenge, but the priest whispers something to him that makes him
reconsider. Both Davos and Melisandre leave the Wall that night, amidst the blizzard.
Beyond the Wall
Very strong winds surround the Heart Tree, making it almost impossible for Bran and his
company to leave the place. Bran has almost completed his training as a greenseer, and
has had visions of Jons demise and Sansas misfortunes. He also has perfected his warg
abilities, managing to warg into rats, eagles and his direwolf with ease. The Three-eyed
Raven, a magical greenseer creature and his mentor, tells Bran they must leave soon or
the White Walkers will find them.
The night before leaving, Bran sees in his dreams a vision of his father Ned Stark in the
past, receiving the news of her sister Lyanna being kidnapped. He wakes up to see a
giant in the entrance of the Tree.
In the North
The blizzard has expanded upon Winterfell, and Roose Bolton shares his worries of the
upcoming winter to one of his bannermen. Ramsay Bolton, upon discovering the death of
her lover Myranda and the escape of both Reek and Sansa, has written a threatening
letter to Jon Snow and orders 30 men to look after Reek and Sansa in every castle in the
North and bring them back alive.
In Braavos
Arya, now struck blind, is dependent on her other senses to walk around Braavos. She
assumes the identity of Beth, a beggar girl, and tries to use her condition to continue her
training as an assassin. The Waif tells her that she will remain that way until the identity
of her former self completely disappears. Arya dreams of Nymeria, her direwolf, and has
constant nightmares of a shadow consuming her body.
In Kings Landing
As the weather in the capital begins to worsen, Kevan Lannister tries unsuccessfully to
maintain order following Cerseis walk of shame. He fails to retrieve Margaery from the
Faith Militant, but manages to put Mace Tyrell as the new Hand of the King to retain
peace with the Tyrells. He also makes other changes to the Council, sends envoys to the
Iron Bank of Braavos, and has a meeting with the High Sparrow to discuss the fate of
both Loras and Margaery, and the influence of the Faith in the citys politics. The High

Sparrow concedes a trial by combat for Cersei, but decides to keep Loras and Margaery
for at least another week, hoping they both confess.
Cersei, while still traumatized for her experience, watches as a reanimated Gregor
Clegane, even stronger than before, easily wins the trial by combat. Kevan is satisfied
with the outcome, and rushes to meet Maester Pycelle to discuss the role of Cersei in the
capital, but finds Pycelle dead in his room. Before reacting, he is fatally shot with a
crossbow by an unknown assassin. Kevan hears the words Fire and Blood as he falls to
the ground.

Season 6 Episode 2
MOTHER BONDS
In the North
Sansa and Theon hide from both Ramsay Bolton and a terrible blizzard in Castle Cerwyn,
a house officially serving the Boltons but secretly still loyal to the remaining Starks.
Jonelle Cerwin, the lady of the castle, treats Sansa kindly but despises Theon, as she sees
him as another traitor to the North. Before going to sleep, Sansa and Theon discuss their
family relations, their own personalities in the middle of the war and where they should
go next, finally deciding to travel to Deepwood Motte, still taken by Yara Greyjoy. At
night, the Reek persona begins to control Theon and he almost tries to kill Sansa, but a
voice in a weirwood outside the window makes him go back to his sanity. Almost
immediately, Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne enter the castle and tell the pair they
must escape right now, as Ramsays men are very close and will catch them without
doubt. The four leave the castle, fighting against the winds of the blizzard.
Beyond the Wall
Bran, Meera, Hodor and Brans direwolf prepare to leave the Heart Tree, leaving the
Three-eyed Crow behind. They have the protection of a mute giant commanded by
Brans warg abilities to reach the Wall safely. Before leaving, the Crow orders Leaf, a
Children of the Forest, to go with them. Bran says goodbye to his mentor and he reminds
him to go as south as possible, but to enter Deepwood Motte before leaving the North, as
Bran will find a relative inside the wooden castle. Bran and company leave the Heart Tree
and begin to go south. Much behind them and across a highland, an army of wights from
Hardhome are slowly going in the same direction.
Across the Narrow Sea
In Mereen, Tyrion, Varys and a recovered Grey Worm have almost eradicated what is left
of the Sons of the Harpy, but have trouble with the citys order without the presence of
Daenerys Targaryen. A spy from the Second Sons in service of Daario Naharis informs
Tyrion that both Astapor and Yunkai, taking advantage of the absence of Daenerys, have
united and are preparing to overthrow the government of Mereen and reinstate slavery.
The spy then says that a terrible disease, simply called the plague, has infected some of
the army in both cities, and then orders them to burn his body, cutting his own throat
after that.
In the south of the Dothraki Sea, Daenerys has been taken prisoner by the Dothraki
horde, which is unsure about what to do with her. She shares a wooden cell with female
slaves of the horde, among them a young red priestess called Nihara. She tells Daenerys
that red priests and priestess, member of the Faith or Rhllor, have seen her in the flames
all around Essos, commanding her dragons to countless battles. She refers to Daenerys
as the true Azor Ahai, a saviour with inmense power. Shortly after, a Dothraki warrior
comes and carries Daenerys out of the cell, telling her she must summon Drogon within
one hour to the Khal to prevent being killed.

In Kings Landing
The funerals of Kevan Lannister and Maester Pycelle are celebrated. Cersei, reunited with
a thin and delirious Tommen, seeks advice from Qyburn about the Faith Militant and their
power, which Cersei believes is the cause of the death of Kevan and Pycelle. Tommen,
upon going to his room, finds an anonymous note detailing Kevan final words: The
Targaryen want this city to be out of control. The note then commands Tommen to
maintain the peace with the Tyrells at any cost.
In her cell, Margaery confesses knowing about Loras homosexuality and is given the
Mothers Mercy, walking naked across the city to the Red Keep. However, she receives
almost no harsh treatment from the citys people, and makes it to the castle mostly
unharmed. Her grandmother, Oleena Tyrell, receives her. Cersei watches from the
window in jealousy, and suddenly realizes that Jaime Lannisters ship is arriving the
capital. As she goes to receive him, a broken-down Jaimie leaves the ship and informs her
that her daughter Myrcella is dead, and the Martells are responsible. Cersei screams in
disbelief and falls to the ground, while Mace Tyrell, having heard the information, tells
Paxter Redwyne that the Martells are traitors and must be wiped out.
