Make the most of lunch break

at the downtown library
FROM STAFF REPORTS

Starting today, the Downtown Librarys

Lunch Bunch Book Club will meet at noon
the third Tuesday of each month in the
Jim Thorpe Room.
Work can be hectic, said Vanessa
Davis, Downtown Library event coordinator. We wanted to offer an opportunity
for a break during the workday that would
still give people in the downtown community a chance to connect and discover
new books to enjoy.
The first book for the club is Whered
You Go, Bernadette, described as a modern-day comic caper, written by Maria
Semple. In it, genius architect Bernadette
struggles with social anxiety so strong
that she cant even make a phone call for
dinner reservations. She disappears right
before a family cruise to Antarctica, and
her eighth-grade daughter, Bee, pieces
together clues to find out where she went.
Reserve book club selections online at
www.metrolibrary.org or visit a librarian
for assistance.

The Ronald J. Norick Downtown

Library is at 300 Park Ave.

Music on Thursdays
The Downtown Library also features
live music at noon every Thursday. The
Noon Tunes series offers musical concerts year-round. Performances are held
in the atrium, where tables and seating are
available for diners.
Hear these acts in September and October:
Sept. 17: Sally Pollack Duo, piano and
clarinet.
Sept. 24: Dr. Tess and Friends, chamber
music.

piano and vocals.
Oct. 8: Marcy Priest, original piano and
vocals.

North High School Orchestra.
