The Spring sunshine is definitely having a positive impact in school. Pupils are very enthusiastic about their
learning and there is more than a tweet of excitement in
For those children who need to use inhalers, Individual health care plans will be put in place where needed.
Pupils who need inhalers should ensure that they have them in school at all times and take them on all
visits and PE activities.
Swimming
A quick reminder that swimming is starting again from next Wednesday! Swimming is a compulsory part of
the schools PE curriculum and therefore all pupils are expected to make the most of this vital learning
opportunity as all primary aged pupils are required under Government regulations, to be able to swim at
least 25 m by the time they leave school. We are proud that the vast majority of our pupils achieve far
more than this.
Pupils will need to bring their swimwear and towels etc. every other week. If they forget to bring their
swimming bag, school will contact families to ask for it to be brought into school. A few spares are kept in
school incase of emergencies! Except in exceptional circumstances, pupils who are well enough to be in
school will be expected to swim. Bus A pupils start first on Wednesday 10th September and Bus B on the
17th September. Pupils will swim every other week until the end of the Spring Term. Updated swimming
lists will be sent home this week. And finally, a big thank you to all the parents, and grandparents, who help
on a voluntary basis and so make school swimming really successful.
After school clubs
KS2 and Y2 Football club will start next Wednesday and will be run by Mr Chicken from 3-4pm, please do
make sure that we received a permission slip if you wish your child to attend.
ERRUFC are running our KS2 rugby club every Friday starting from next week the 11th September. This
will run from 3.00 4.15 pm and again, permission slips are needed. Girls and boys are positively
encouraged to attend both of these clubs, so I hope they give them a go and learn a fantastic range of new
skills.
Fitness Trail
As you will have noticed, our fitness trail has been cordoned off since its inspection by Sportsafe last June.
Sadly they decided that it was showing signs of wear and so condemned it. The quote to have it removed
and then replaced was 10,000 which seems a fairly hefty sum! We are therefore really grateful to Michael
Cox with his team of learners from NCC who have offered to come and take it down section by section and
rebuild it using existing parts wherever possible. Although this will take longer, so everyones patience is
greatly appreciated, the cost to school will be minimal. I am sure you will agree you would rather wait a little
longer and have a fabulous new fitness trail rather than not having one at all. Our pupils do love using it
and I know will be delighted when they can play on it again.
KS2 residentials
It is a very exciting term for our KS2 pupils as they are all going on residentials! Class 3 are off to London
in September on an art tour and Class 2 are going to Hathersage as part of their Misty Mountains topic,
they are going to climb Mam Tor under the expert supervision of Miss Coupe. Exciting times, a big thank
you to the staff for organising such memorable and meaningful learning opportunities.
Up and coming events
The new annual calendar of events for 2015/16 has already been sent home to families to give parents
maximum notice of events for this academic year. An online version is available on the school website and
information has also been uploaded onto the online website daily calendar too. Please do remember to
check the website to see what is happening at school.
There is one amendment already which is the to the Harvest Festival date which has been altered due to
the Y3/4 residential to Hathersage. Harvest celebrations will now take place on
INSET days for 2015 /16
