Dear Parents,

MESSAGE OF THE WEEK

nd

Year 6 enterprise day is this Thursday 2 July. Children from year 1-6 are welcome to bring up to 3 to spend this
day on treats, games and activities.
PTA CAMP NIGHT SATURDAY 4

TH

JULY

th

Camp Night is approaching on the 4 July but presently the number of pitches booked is very low. I expect that many
of us are keeping an eye on the weather forecast before making a decision to camp or not. If the weather is right, this
is a lovely family event with the availability for approximately 50 pitches. Children must come accompanied with a
responsible adult. Please see the attached information for further details and choices for food. Breakfast will be
served from 8am from the famous Ellens Grill van! We shall make a decision as to whether this event should go
ahead next Wednesday. This will be based upon the number of bookings for food and tent pitches. We should also
have a very good idea by then of the weather forecast. Looking forward to seeing you there!
We would love volunteers for very light duties. These include: supervision of the disco, bouncy castle, sweet and
refreshment stall sales, leading a camp fire song!! Please let us know at the office if you are able to help.
EARRINGS
As you may be aware, the school has a strict no jewellery policy to avoid injury and loss. If you are considering
piercing your childs ears, July is a good time to have this done in order to ensure that your childs ears are fully healed
before we return in September. Thank you very much.
YEAR 4 BRASS ASSEMBLY
th

On the 9 July, parents from our Year 4 classes are again most welcome to come and see the progress their children
are making, our year 6 children who have been learning guitar will also be performing. It will be held at 11am and will
last about 25 minutes.
JINSHAN PRIMARY SCHOOL FUZHOU VISITING WALTON LE DALE!
I hope you will all make a big effort to make our visitors from China welcome next week. 9 pupils from Fuzhou will be
spending a week with us and living with some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils, experiencing life in the UK. I hope that it will
be both an interesting and exciting experience for us all.
ENTERPRISE DAY - SUPPORTING YEAR 6
Our Year 6 children are currently very busy organising a fun filled day in order to raise monies for their leavers day out
at the end of term. Every Year 6 class has done this in the past and it has been really well supported by all our parents
previously. Miss Keelan and Mrs Ormerod have got the children designing stalls around the theme of Minions! All
children in classes from Year 1 to Year 6 will be invited to this event throughout the school day. We would like to ask
children to bring no more than 3 to have fun whilst they visit and support this event. The Year 6 children are so very
grateful for this support!
UNIFORM ORDER
Please find attached an order form for our uniform. If you wish to purchase uniform for now, or the new school year
please complete the form and return it to the school office by Friday 10th July with the money enclosed in an
envelope. Alternatively you may go directly to the shop on Bamber Bridge Football grounds.

STAFF LEAVING
I am sad to say that we are to lose some very valuable and popular members of our staff at the end of this term as
they are to move onto new challenges and motherhood! Amongst our teaching staff, Mrs Harris in Year 1 will be
moving on to a post at a church school nearer to her home. Mrs Galland and Miss Holden will also be moving onto
new challenges. Finally, Miss Boyle who greets you as you enter the main office at the front of school is moving into
marketing and business having obtained a post nearby.
You may be aware that both Mrs Wade and Mrs McLeod will both be starting their maternity leaves in the next few
weeks also.
LIFE BUS
The children will soon be visiting the Life Bus which is a huge mobile classroom which complements our curriculum
and teaches children about their bodies and sends powerful messages about how to care about themselves. Children
in the past have thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Please help support this by sending a 2 contribution to school
to help us continue this experience. Wristbands and tags are offered by the service but are optional, priced at 1.
HOT WEATHER
Although we cannot administer sun cream to children, you may want to prepare your children at the start of the
school day by putting it on them. Alternatively, older children may bring sun cream for their own personal use. Please
name any bottles that children bring as they often need to be returned!
TEMPEST PHOTOGRAPHY
You should all have received a proof photograph of your childs class picture along with an order form. Please can you
th
ensure you have your order forms back in by Wednesday 8 July at the latest if you wish to purchase the photograph.
Large copies of each photograph are at the office for you to view before you purchase.
FAIR TRADE FRIDAY
This Friday will be the last time children are able to purchase Fair Trade snacks and drinks at lunch time for the great
price of 70p. This will be open to all infant and junior children. If we manage to sell all of our stock, we will have made
200 for Fair Trade. This would be fantastic if we can reach our target!
PTFA 100 CLUB! 1 PER MONTH FOR ENTRY - PLEASE JOIN!
PLEASE JOIN IN WITH THIS! In order to raise money for our pool, we would like to invite every parent to join our 100
Club. At the end of each month, starting next September, we will hold a draw and lucky winners will receive cash
prizes. The more members of our community that enter this, the larger the prizes we are able to give out to our
winners. This fun initiative is to raise money for a sustained pool improvement programme and offer prize monies
to lucky parents and grandparents who wish to join in! Please see the attached form for further information.
DONATION OF TOILETRIES FOR MOLDOVA
In the summer holidays Mrs Galland is visiting Moldova to work alongside a charity called Stellas Voice
(www.stellasvoice.org.uk).The charity works with orphaned children, from infants through to young adults, and as part
of their fund raising efforts, wants to fill a truck full of desperately needed toiletries to take to Moldova before
th
summer. If you would like to donate any toiletry items please hand them into the office before Friday 17 July.
Examples: toothpaste, toothbrush, facial wipes, sanitary wear, moisturising cream, hand sanitizer, soap, hair brush,
comb, shampoo, deodorant, shower gel, hair clips, hair bands.
