Despite begging last newsletter for help with the raffle we have had NO offers to help
for 10 minutes on a Thursday night at the Age.

Years 4 8

Go to Salford School (Salford Street) for the day

The bus leaves school just after 9.00am and will be
back at school by 3.00pm.
Go to Waverley Park School (Eden Crescent) for the day.
The day starts earlier so the bus will be pulling away from school at 8.30am so
please be at school by 8.25am. The bus will be back at school around 3.00pm

Please, please, please could some of you make her day by flicking her a text or calling
her. We are at real risk of her name becoming Lynley-nomates! Her number is
0274338077.

EVERYBODY needs a backpack with the following:

- water bottle
- sensible shoes appropriate for athletics
- packed lunch if you have ordered a sausage you will still need nibbly bits
- warm layers of clothing
- sunhat
Things you need to know:
It is really important that everybody wears clothing suitable for running, jumping etc. Shorts and t-shirts are best
with a sweatshirt to pop over the top. Jeans and skirts are not suitable.
Spectators/helpers are welcome. You are more than welcome to take your child home with you at the end of the
day but please make sure a staff member knows your taken them so that we do not have chaos.
If the weather lets us down, the postponement day will be the next fine day.
For postponements listen to More FM, Classic Hits FM, Hokonui Gold and Southland Community Radio from 8am
Please, please ring any absences early and leave a message on the school answerphone 212 8523. It is really
difficult following up absences and lateness when we are trying to get away. Thanks.

Hpori awhina
This year we are trying this new initiative on Friday afternoons along with kapa haka and siva. It is essentially a
community service time where the students help run things at school and take responsibility for certain areas we
are beginning with the seniors focussing on tasks in school this term, and will roll it out to all students with tasks in the
wider community, as we have perfected what we are doing and iron out any wrinkles in the system. We have 11
groups going and this is a fabulous student leadership opportunity for our Year 7 and 8 students.
Hpori awhina notice from the Event Managmenet Group:
On THURSDAY 5TH MARCH we are holding PAJAMA DAY to fundraise for
KiwiCan that operates in our school.
We are asking everyone to wear PJs and bring along a gold coin donation.
We are planning a PJ parade, a lolly scramble and some games.
Thanks, Vaine and Jasmyn

Our newly painted office

is starting to look bright
and swish thanks to some
amazing art by some of
our budding artists!!

With athletics day fast approaching, everyone is out practising the different events

3 Way Conferences
A big thank you to everyone that came to the 3 way conferences. It is quite an important time to set goals for your
child so if you have yet to do this, please make a time when you have 10 minutes spare to do this. Yet again, we are
really appreciative that so many came and given such valuable feedback about what their children need. Now
we just have to try and meet those goals ha!

Wriggle and Rhyme
