money for our swimming pool. Sponsorships forms are available at the main office or can be found on
our school website page.
PTFA FAMILY BINGO NIGHT
Everybody who attended thoroughly enjoyed our Bingo night! We raised 175 towards school funds which is fantastic.
One parent won a cash prize of 25 congratulations Mr Parry! We would love to see a few more families at our next

Choir practise will not be on this week due to Mr Shields going to South Africa. The choir will be taken to St Georges
th
Hall in Blackburn at 2pm on Thursday 12 March. Parents are welcome to attend for the 6pm start and can collect
their children after the concert at 7pm.
If you have not got your tickets for the Sing Together concert in Blackburn, please request them soon as spaces may
soon disappear. The choir will be sitting in section J of the stage. Please ring 01254 582579 or 0844 8471664 to order

ROTAKIDS ANY OLD SPECTACLES? PHOTOGRAPH COMPETITION

The RotaKids from year 4 will be giving a presentation to other schools at the RotaKids conference in Blackpool at
the Imperial Hotel. They will be informing other schools about our current projects and how they are involved with
the Rotary Club on a regular basis!
Following a letter sent before the half term break, the RotaKid children of Year 4 have put their heads together and
would like to ask for your generosity in donating old spectacles you may have in drawers. Prescriptions and fashions
change so if you have any unused pairs, please send them to the school office and they can be placed in a recycling
box at the front entrance. All spectacles donated will be sent to Africa through the charity Sightsavers with the
support of the South Ribble Rotary Club.
The Year 4 children would also like to invite you all to take part in a photograph competition where photos of animals
and pets will be most welcome for entry. These can be serious or funny with prizes on offer for the best! All photos
should be brought into school with a name and class name on the reverse of the photograph and entry will be 1. The
RotaKid children of Year 4 will judge all entries in the final week of term.

GENERAL & EUROPEAN ELECTIONS - THURSDAY 7

MAY 2015

It is with much regret that we have been informed that the school will have to shut on this day. The volume of voters
anticipated for these elections is anticipated to be far greater than usual and the schools usual system of closing the
nursery has been judged as inadequate for the needs of South Ribble election organisers. Many options have been
explored to keep the school open or partially open, however the Chair of Governors and I are resigned to the fact that
it will not be possible. The staff will all be present and working during this day addressing issues for school
development. I would like to apologise for this inconvenience and hope that the notice given allows you to make
alternative arrangements for this closure.
SAINSBURYS VOUCHERS
Sainsburys ACTIVE KIDS vouchers will be provided from our local stores from 28th January to 5th May 2015. I hope
you are aware that these make a huge difference to our school as they are collected keenly in order to purchase free
resources for many areas of our curriculum. I would be very grateful if you would please try your very best to collect
and return them to our school office. Dont be frightened to ask others in your queue if they have no need for them
and get your friends and family all doing the same! I have set an ambitious target of 40,000 tokens to be collected!
Your help is, as always, very much appreciated.
NURSERY PLACES FOR SEPTEMBER
If you have a child who is already three or will turn three before September 2015 and you are interested in your child
starting in our nursery, please feel free to come to the office to collect an application form to put their name down.
Please see the back of the newsletter for more information.
