Dear Parents,

MESSAGE OF THE WEEK PLEASE GET YOUR BAKING TINS OUT!

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING IN THE JUNIOR HALL - 9AM 11.30AM
th

On Friday 25 September, our children in Year 6 would like to act as hosts and continue to support this very worthy
cause. You are most welcome to visit our school to join us for refreshments with our children during this event.
Children in Classes 1 5 will be invited to the morning and we would really appreciate it if you could spare 1 for
them to spend on a drink and some cake to support this cause.
If you are able to bake any biscuits or cakes for this event, we would be extremely grateful!
CLUBS
Clubs that are run by members of staff will mainly start on the next week. Please see the intended schedule of clubs
which is now published on the school website.
YEAR 6 BIKEABILITY
We would like to give our Year 6 children to opportunity to take up the challenge of passing the Bikeability
qualification. Your child should bring their bicycle, which should be in good working order, and a cycle helmet on the
dates listed below for their class. This opportunity is provided through the South Ribble Borough Council and it
focuses on getting our children safely managing road skills and practical road cycling training which is helpful with
their transition to high school next year.

100 PLUS CLUB
We are trying to raise money for the ongoing pool refurbishment and are encouraging as many parents as possible to
take part in a bit of fun in the form of a 100 club. We are nearing the 100 mark for our membership! This will be
drawn at the end of each month and is a superb way of winning a bit for you! If you would like to take part please
either ring the school office or come in and see us to sign up or download the form on the school website which can
be found under the Our Community tab. The more people that subscribe, the more the pool will raise and you shall
win!
Thank you very much for considering this.
LOST UNIFORM - LABELLING
Thank you very much for equipping your children so well at the start of the school year with uniforms and PE kits. Can
I please, however, urge all parents to label in an obvious place all items of clothing. I have spotted numerous newly
bought items that are unnamed and it gives us real difficulties in giving mislaid clothing back to children. I appreciate
that this is an unwelcome expense which we would all like to avoid. Should your child bring an item home that is not
theirs, please return it as soon as possible so that that it can be returned to its owner.
OPEN DAYS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION
Please see dates added below to inform you of Open Evenings for Lostock Hall Academy and Penwortham Priory
Academy as these events are approaching fast.

LIBRARY BOOKS
Your children will be able to take home a library book very soon to read and enjoy with you at home. Please could you
ensure that they are read and returned safely and promptly. Each book is electronically logged out of our library in
th
order to help us track our collection of books. Year 2 pupils will start on Monday 14 September 12:30- 1:00pm and
st
Year 1 pupils will start on Tuesday 21 September. Both year groups alternate sessions ie week 1- Mrs Hocking, week
2 Mrs Southgate. Reception class will start after Christmas in January with KS2 children in every Wednesday.
SWIMMING LESSON DONATIONS
As you are aware, we kindly ask for a parental donation of 12 each term to be made towards the swimming lessons
your child receives. This is about 1 for each lesson which is great value and something which your children benefit
hugely from. Please help us by making your payments to the school office, cheques are to be made payable to
Lancashire County Council or L.C.C.
YEAR 6 BOREATTON PARK
th

The next instalment of 50 for Boreatton Park is due by the 25 September. Payments can be made directly to the
school office and any cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council or L.C.C.
