Issue 8 23rd October 2013

Dear Parents, CHRISTMAS FAIR This is our main event in the year and funds a huge amount of extras such as reducing the costs of educational visits. I would like to ask you to help us by bringing an item to support our fair each week as we approach the event. These th gifts that you make will ensure a range of fun activities for the 30 November. The children will be invited to come into school dressed or styled differently on certain collection days listed below rather than asking for a 1 donation we ask that you could bring one of the following items on the appropriate week: 25 October: A Mystery Parcel Gift (this should be a 1 or 2 in value and no more. It can be for a girl or boy/infant or junior (Wear what you want day) 8 November: Chocolate and wrapping paper A bar of chocolate of any size or type the bigger the better and a roll of wrapping paper. (Come to school wearing something Spotty!) 15 November: Tombola and wrapping paper Soaps, smellies, bottles, candles, small gifts, bath products, glassware etc and a roll of wrapping paper (normal full school uniform day) 21 November: Wine: Bring a bottle of wine (Normal full school uniform with Mad Hair Day) 29 November: Toys/Books and Cakes (cakes with fresh cream are welcome to arrive on the actual day) - (normal full school uniform day) Your donations each week will be counted for each class and there will be a winning class with the highest percentage of donations made. Every donation means a great difference to the school but it is very much appreciated that giving each week will be costly. Please accept that if you feel that you are unable to help us each week, this is absolutely fine. More importantly, if you have more than one child, a different sibling can bring a donation to reduce the expense over the weeks. This will be made clear to the children also each week as we build up to the fair. HARVEST THANK YOU I would like to say so many thanks on behalf of the school and St Aidans Church for the generous donations made towards the local food bank collection. The children were involved with setting it all up, moving it around school and taking it to the church to ensure their full involvement with this valuable cause. Once again, thank you so much for your generosity! BAMBER BRIDGE SPORTS Julie will not be opening to sell school uniform over the half term break until the 5 November. The shop will, however, be open each school week as usual. FOOTBALLERS BAMBER BRIDGE FOOTBALL CLUB SATURDAY 7

TARLETON RUGBY CLUB YOUNG PLAYERS WANTED I have had some great links with Tarleton Rugby Club over the past two years and would love to offer any children and parents an invite to get involved the club and coming along to play. There are teams for ages 5 years old and up who are crying out for interested players. If you might be interested in going along and having a go, please contact myself or Paul Cromack on 07793244276 PILATES A pilates class is now to be run after half term on Mondays starting on the 11 November for 6 week (initially). If you are interested in taking part, please ring Mikala on 07843 49480 TEMPEST PHOTOGRAPHY As you are all aware Tempest came to school a few weeks ago and took individual and family photographs. You should all have received the proofs for these photographs. If you wish to purchase any of these please have your order into th the school office by Friday 8 November. This is the final deadline and any orders received after this date will be sent back to you to send directly to Tempest (unfortunately, extra charges for late orders apply). DINNER CHOICES From November 4 , a new menu is to be served which ensures choices more suited for our childrens tastes. I would like to make you aware that I am wishing to trial an improved system of serving our children who enjoy school dinners, to ensure that they receive their first choice more of the time. In the past, there have been children who have made a choice and not always received it. This means that they have a fairer queuing system and will no longer be required to make their order at the start of the school day in class. POPPY APPEAL Poppies have been obtained to allow the children and staff note Remembrance Day which is fast approaching. Wrist bands, sticker poppies (which are probably better for our infants) and pinned poppies are available in the school entrance if you wish to donate for this cause. Year 6 children will be invited to sell poppies in the playground leading th up to the 11 November. I would like to ask children to donate a minimum of 20p for poppies and 50p for a band. EARLY DOORS Just a reminder to say that infant doors are open from 8.50am and junior doors are open from 8.40am. The junior doors will however close at 8.50am and children should enter the school via the front entrance. Many thanks. ADMISSIONS TO PRIMARY SCHOOL SEPT 2014 If anybody has any children whose birthdays are between 01.09.09 and 31.08.10, please be aware that you are th required to select a school before 15 January. SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMISSIONS Just a reminder - that all parents of Year 6 children must register their three high school choices with the Lancashire st Admissions Team by the 31 October.
