PROVIDENCE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

SPRING TRIP—APRIL 15-18, 2010


Travel Dates: April 15-18, 2010

Costs are based on a minimum of 35 paying participants. Cost


includes a free double occupancy space for the choir director and
the accompanist. PUMC will receive a credit of $75 for each
paying participant over 35. Maximum number of participants is
48.

Thursday, April 15
Group departs PUMC early for Williamsburg, Virginia. Transportation is by
private motorcoach. In the interest of time we suggest that tour members
bring a bag lunch to be eaten on the coach. Arrive in Williamsburg around
3pm and check into the Hampton Inn located a short distance from Historic
Williamsburg. Proceed to Bruton Parish Church for a rehearsal and
performance. Following the performance dinner will be included at the
local restaurant.

Friday, April 16
Breakfast is included this morning at the Hampton Inn. Following breakfast
you will be transported to Colonial Williamsburg where a basic entry pass
is included. This pass includes the basic buildings and shops but does not
include entry to the Governor’s Palace. Depart Colonial Williamsburg
around 3:30pm for Alexandria, Virginia. Accommodations for the next two
nights are at the Hotel Monaco Alexandria. This small hotel is located in
the center of the charming town of Alexandria. Shops, restaurants and
historic sightseeing are located just steps away. Your evening is free.

Saturday, April 17
Breakfast is on your own but there are many options nearby the hotel. You
will be transported to the center of Washington, D.C. and dropped off in
the heart of the Mall. This will give you access to the many museums and
historic sites in the Nation’s Capitol. Of particular interest is the new
National Museum of the American Indian and the National Gallery of Art.
Your might also want to walk to the end of the Mall past the Washington
Monument to visit the new World War II Memorial. There are plenty of
dining and shopping opportunities in the area of the Mall. Your private
motorcoach will return you to Alexandria in the late afternoon. If you want
to return earlier you can take the Metro to the Alexandria stop and then it
is a short taxi ride back to your hotel. The evening is free to explore
Alexandria as you choose.
Sunday, April 18
This morning you be performing at an area DC church. Following this
performance we will depart the Washington, D.C. area for your drive back
to Charlotte. You should return to Charlotte around 10pm this evening.
