Character Analysis

Lula
o Clay- Lula wants to have a good time with Clay. Lula wants
to teach Clay what its like to be with an older white
woman.
o Warren- Lula knows Warren through a passing just like
Clay. Lula talked to Warren about his party next week and
about his close friends.
o Lula wants to deceive. Lula like being a mysterious woman
and a seductress.
o Lula is willing to drug a man to get what she wants. She is
willing to get on a train to sit next to a stranger. She is
willing to invite herself to a party. She is willing to lie.
o Lula has no problem with murder, lying, kissing strangers,
rubbing bellies in public, doing drugs, and flirting with
strangers.
o Lula is strong, white, somewhat privileged, has grey hair.

Clay
o Lula- Clay wants to screw Lula. Clay likes the mystery of
an older white woman and wants to impress her.
o Warren- is a good friend of Clays, and Clay is going to his
party. Warren and Clay went to colored college together.
o Georgia- is Clays sister. She tends to tell more things
about him to her friends then he would like to be told.
o Clay wants to look educated, upper class, WHITE. Clay
wants respect.
o Clay is willing to dress another way than he is accustomed
to, get his education at a colored college, change
everything about himself. Surround himself with people
who are what he wants to be or who are just like him.
o Clay has no problem with murder, with being a different
man than who he is, telling lies, talking to a stranger,
taking a stranger to his friends house, going to a strangers
house.
