SUMMARY

In a jungle of Nool, afternoon, in the cool pool, there is an elephant named Horton who
is a nature teacher. While having fun splashing, he heard a small noise. He stopped splashing
and inspected the sound. Its a tiny speck dust blowing past through the air. He believes that
there are living creatures inside that speck. His eyes dont see those things inside yet his ears
can hear something. Using his trunk, he carried it over and placed it down on a clover safely.
Suddenly, the Sour Kangaroo with her baby appeared. They dont believed in what Horton says.
He defended himself not with just the Sour Kangaroo but also with the other animals in the
jungle. They think Horton is going crazy. He decided to place the speck in a safer place because
he sees harm in the jungle, on the top of the Mt. Nool to be exact.
Horton communicate with the mayor of that little speck (Whoville-place). The mayor ask
for favor to protect their world from devastation and bring it to a safe, more stable home.
The Sour Kangaroo enlisted a vulture to get rid of the speck by force. The vulture stole
the clover away from Horton and dropped it into a wide field of several pink clovers. Horton
looked for the right clover. Eventually, he found it after many attempts but the Sour Kangaroo

found out that Horton still lives with his speck. She decided to ask the other animals in the
jungle to confront Horton.
The animals roped and caged Horton. They get the speck away from him. It was planned
to be burned in a pot of boiling beezlenut oil. The mayor made an announcement to his people
to make nooise in any form so that the animal could hear it with the help of Jojos invention but
it fails. The speck was almost dropped in the pot of boiling liquid when the baby of the Sour
Kangaroo heard something, Jojo grabbed the horn and used it to project Hortons voice. He run
up in the highest tower and yelled YOPP!. The animals finally hear the whos and realized that
Horton is not crazy.
In the end, Horton successfully saved the Whoville.

Question 1
Horton is an elephant living in the Jungle of Nool with many different kinds of animals.
He is a nature teacher. He is relaxing in the pool when suddenly, a small speck of dust
comprising the world of Whoville crosses his path. He let it rest on a clover. The other animals
dont believed in him that there are living creatures inside that speck. The Speck is now
threatened. He sees the danger that the tiny community will be experiencing if he let the speck
float around as the doctor of the Whoville said if their world will not have the proper stability,
then their world would be destroyed. Because of this, the mayor of Whoville asked Horton to
find a safer, more stable home. Horton was proud and determined to accept the mayors
favor. He searched for a place where factors such as safety and stability is available. He finally
had his decision to put the speck on a small cave located on the top of Mt. Nool which is
peaceful, quiet and cool at the same time. Also, there is a sunflower where he knew every who
would be safe and sound. He considered this as a perfect place for the whos.
Question 2
The cave on the top of the Mt. Nool is a safe place for the speck. Horton experienced
lots of difficulties. First the jungle community dont believe in what he believes in. Second, the
animals are chasing him to get rid of the speck. Also, the trial he had when the Vulture snatched
the speck from him and dropped it over a wide field of clovers. Another thing to add is the path
to the top of Mt. Nool. It was hard to go to that high place. Lastly, when Horton was caged and I
think he almost had a heart attack when the speck was being dropped into the boiling liquid.

Question 3
If Horton is an Architect, and I will be Horton, I would also do the same thing he did. But
I will consider more factors like climate such as prevailing winds, sun rotation, moisture,
temperature and rainfall. I would also keep it away from danger and noise.
