Quote of the Month

Men of integrity, by their very existence, rekindle the belief that as a people we
can live above the level of moral squalor. We need that belief; a cynical
community is a corrupt community.

Such a change would allow the University to communicate more

efficiently between academic units on campus and with other
institutions, according to SGA President Logan Mustain.
As stated in the proposal, FI grades could be recorded at any time in
the semester and prevent the offending student from dropping that
course to avoid failure.
Currently, no system exists for documenting failure for academic
integrity outside the standard grade of F.
The process of evaluating situations in which student conduct is
called into question would remain the same, according to Chief of
Staff Nathan Lee.
The process isnt going to change. There is a checks and balances
system, he said. This would give them a way of documenting

Auburn Disputes Report Athletic Department

Tried to Influence Academic Decision

USA TODAY Sports

9/1/2015

Auburn's provost on Tuesday responded to a report in The Wall

Street Journal last week that claimed the school's athletic
department in 2013 influenced top administrators to overrule a
vote to eliminate a degree program, popular with athletes, that
was not considered to be fulfilling the school's academic mission.

The newspaper cited internal documents in claiming top

athletic officials offered to use athletic department funds to
help pay professors and support staff.
Dr. Timothy Boosinger, in an email to the faculty, strongly
defending the university's academic integrity. Auburn
professor John Carvalho tweeted the statement, saying it was
the Provost's statement in a monthly email to faculty, not a
special statement

Upholds Academic Integrity

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi

University (ADU) has reported a

decline in academic integrity
violations from 334 cases in 2009-10
to just 29 cases in the 2014-15
academic year.
The university, which is ranked
among the 50 best universities in the
Arab world by QS, a professional
organisation that rates universities,
formed the Office of Academic
Integrity (OAI) in 2009 to ensure that
academic standards are upheld and
that there are no violations by
students or faculty members.

Commenting on the results,

Chancellor Dr. Nabeel Ebrahim said:
It is a well-known fact that higher
education results are insignificant if
theyre gained through dishonest
means. Consequently, we
continuously encourage students,
faculty and staff to uphold the highest
standards of integrity,
professionalism and transparency, on
both academic and personal levels.

Since the inception of the OAI, the

university has implemented clear and
strict policies and regulations that
combat, regulate and respond to
academic violations, he added

ew Brunswick, NJThe Rutgers

University Board of Governors (BOG)
will meet behind closed doors for a
secret meeting on September 11,
presumably to discuss the brewing
scandals related to the football team.
The board has broad powers to set
tuition rates, negotiate with unions,
buy land and build new buildings, as
well as hire and fire the University's
President.
But the board, which had not been
scheduled to meet until October 14,
will only meet regarding "athletics
matters and anticipated or pending
litigation," on September 11.
The secretive meeting could decide
potential punishment for head football
coach Kyle Flood, after he was
accused of inappropriately contacting
the teacher of a failing player.
Nadir Barnwell, widely believed to be
the student athlete in question, was
one of five current and two former
Rutgers football players arrested and
charged with violent crimes just two
days before the start of the season
