Pastors Remarks
Dear Church Family,
Our Sunday morning Bible study groups (LIFE Groups) are not just
another church program. Rather, they are our strategy, a way to do the
mission of the church, making disciples. Thus groups are important
because the mission of the church becomes the mission of each group. We
are to be groups on mission.
In an effort to be on mission, I want to encourage you to join in
ReConnect, an effort to connect people to Christ and a Biblical
community. These are some important dates:

Soul Winning Commitment Day

Begins a 6 week Outreach Burst
Connect Day (high attendance)

We will be asking you to commit to praying for lost family and friends
during the month of October. During the 6 week outreach effort, we want
to make as many contacts as possible to any absentees and prospects,
leading up to high attendance day in worship and Bible study. Please pray
for and get involved in what is going on.
I know of a couple of churches who are doing away with the Bible study
hour and are focusing only on worship. While worship is important, that
alone will not help make disciples. Study and application of the Word is
paramount. We teach Gods word, which is truth, and we teach for life
change. As people are obedient to God and His word and His principles,
lives are changed.
Lets do what we can to reach our community for Christ. The enemy is at
work, but so is our God. Lets join Him. Be faithful in these critical days.
For His sake,

Bro. Darrol

Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed,
one who rightly divides the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
Children are excited about AWANA! Clay and Julie Brantley along with the faithful department
leaders are off to a great start! Maybe you have thought from time to time about volunteering now would be
a great time to do it! It would just take about 40 minutes of your time to sit with a group of children and listen
to them quote their Bible verses to you. Pray about it-then come and join the team!
Last month we launched a new segment of Life Group 4 KidZ for Preschool-Grade 6. It is an
early event we call J.A.M. (Jesus and Me). If your child is not attending they are missing out
on a lot of excitement so encourage them to be here by 9:30 AM for music, games, relevant devotions and
object lessons. It is fast paced and action packed as all the age group leaders participate in the fun! Children
are dismissed to their life group class by 9:50AM. Bible Bucks are awarded for participation in J.A.M, Life
Group, Scripture Memorization, bringing your Bible and inviting a friend, and are cashed in for prizes each
month.
GOOD NEWS CLUB (Child Evangelism) begins this week (Oct 7). What a blessing to
have students, parents and teachers being enthusiastic about the club. If youre not familiar
with GNC, it is an awesome opportunity allowing us to go into the public school system and
teach children the Word of God and scripture memorization. If you are interested in observing the group
sometime or volunteering, please let me know! We meet in classrooms on Wednesday afternoon until
4:30PM. I am VERY happy that we will also have a class at the Middle Senior High School, in addition to
Ben Hill Griffin School and Frostproof Elementary.
This will be our biggest community outreach of the year! You will have an opportunity to come
in contact with hundreds of people in one evening. All you have to do is show up and be
friendly as we meet, greet, and treat the visitors who God will send our way! Decorating your vehicle is not
mandatory-however, prizes will be awarded again this year to winning participants!

Hello Church Family!

October is shaping up to be a busy week for us here in the youth ministry! Let me take a moment to share what has happened and is
coming up in the next month.
In addition to our regular Wednesday night excitement, on September the 25th our students gathered at their school during the
national See You At The Pole event. Students all over the world gathered that morning at their schools flag pole for a time of
worship and prayer! It was an amazing experience to see over 50 FMSHS students praying openly for their school and their
community in front of their public school. It was a great blessing to see students taking a stand for God at their school in the
presence of their peers!
Mobilize 2015 is her e! This year will be a two-evening event, Friday and Saturday October 9th-10th, with Friday being a show at
FMSHS after school and Saturday our main event here at First Baptist Church! Im am extremely excited to see what Brock Gill
will bring for our students as he performs illusions and gives the gospel in an exciting way! We would love for you to be a part of
Mobilize by volunteering for one of our many jobs needed. The more important roles that we need filled are registration and food
helpers, door greeters, and even adults who can lead students after an altar call. You dont need to be called to youth ministry to
help us in any of these roles! Either fill out a Mobilize Volunteer form in the church bulletin this week or contact me personally to
sign up so that we can place people according to need.
Also, please begin to think about how you can plug into this years TRUNK-OR-TREAT
event, which falls on Halloween night (Sat. Oct 31st). We will be hosting this Halloween
alternative as a joint effort between the Student and Childrens Ministries. We are in need
of volunteers, vehicles, and tons of CANDY. Please be on the look-out for an insert in the
weekly bulletin that explains how you can help! Trunk or Treat is always an amazing
evangelism event, with last years attendance going well over 1,000 people!
If you have any questions about TRUNK-OR-TREAT, please call Diane or me at the church office!
In closing, let me share with you these words of Jesus:
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
As we consider the manner in which we live, our actions communicate a message
to the world more often than we may realize. If we publicly identify as
Christ-followers, our actions have the potential to tell people exactly how
Much (or how little) Jesus has impacted our lives. Let us strive to show
His grace and love to our community through our service to them.

Keep fishing,

Bro. Brian
