NME

NME stands for New Musical

Express. Its title is clearly associated
with music. The use of the word New
seems to infer that the magazine would
like to think of itself as modern and fresh.
The abbreviation of the three words
into three letters gives the magazine
a shorter, more recognisable, name
for readers.
The use of the word Express reminds
me of a newspaper or something formal.
This may be because NME used to be in a
newspaper format instead of a magazine.

Kerrang!
Kerrang! is an effective name for a
tweens magazine. It sounds like the
noise that a guitar would make when
strumming it.

Kerrang! has quite a rebellious, rock

sounding name. This captures the target
audiences interests perfectly as they
would be reading Kerrang for this reason.
