Journal 1: Sleep Deprived or Hungry?

As an engineering student, I face numerous requirements
in order to finish my courses. There are times that these
requirements deprive me of my sleeping time, as well as
my eating time. These things are both harmful to our
bodies, but sometimes one or both are sacrificed. Is this
the right thing to do?

My Journal
In partial fulfilment
of the requirements in ENSP703
3rd Term A.Y. 2013 2014

Because I am aware that these two things are

harmful for my body, I dont do both at the same time. In
the past I tend to give up my sleeping hours, but that
ended drastically when my metabolism weakened and I
became sick with German measles. I tend do not fully
deprive myself of food, but there are times that I eat too
late and too few for a full meal. Over the years I have
realized that if needed, I must not be totally hungry and
sleep deprived in order to finish requirements. I balance
these two by eating at the right time lightly, and sleeping
for at least 4 hours. In doing these, I have enough energy
to finish requirements and have some to spare for the next
days set of challenges.

Journal 2: The Convenience of
Smartphones
My requirements in a mobile phone are quite simple: It
doesnt have to be big and I can call and text message
using it. Now that I have a smartphone, I never thought of
having a mobile phone provides numerous benefits other
than calls and text messaging.
First of all, having a small size is one significant
benefit. Elimination of the bulkiness of gadgets is a relief.
Smartphones nowadays have specifications that can rival
computers at some cases. You can access the Internet as
long as you have a mobile signal, and even play high
quality games using smartphones. You can also access
and edit your documents using a smartphone. Media like
pictures, music and videos can also be accessed using
smartphones. With the rapid development of technology;
smartphones will further become more advanced. As an
Electronics Engineer, I plan to be one of those people in
leading the development of smartphones.

Stepping onto the road to college is usually

associated with new surroundings, new experiences, and
new challenges. For me though, college life is akin to new
beginnings.
Ive been studying in college for 5 years now, and
this concept of college is still true for me. Having
transferred to a new school, Im adding a new chapter to
college life. I am learning from past mistakes and I am
striving to make up for lost time. I still have around 2
years left to stay in college, and I plan to enjoy those 2
years to the fullest, even though numerous challenges
await me. As they say, you only experience college once. I
better make the most of it without wasting any more time.

Journal 4: Do We Need to Believe in

Superstitions?
The Filipino culture is full of superstitious beliefs.
Some are over the country, and at some provinces have

their own set of unique superstitions. In this modernized

era, is it still alright to believe in these superstitions?
In my opinion, it is alright to believe in superstitions,
as long as one is not obsessed with these beliefs. I
practice some beliefs myself, and the most frequent is not
letting the endpoints of my utensils point to someone
when I had finished eating. If it is pointed to someone, it
can bring that person bad luck. Its not necessary to
believe in superstitions, but it is not something to be
prohibited. Also note that you should take everything in
moderation, even superstitions.

can even share photos and files with them in order to

discuss topics both casually and academically. I am
informed of events happening to my relatives, friends and
colleagues just by reading their posts. I can even use
social networking sites as a medium of showing my
professional prowess, and expanding my professional
network in the future. The benefits of accessing a social
networking site is invaluable to a student, but take caution
as you may get addicted to these sites, and too much of a
good thing is a bad thing.

Journal 6: Movie Time: Need for Speed

I am a guy who loves cars, and loves movies. When
a movie about cars and racing is to be shown I really am
excited to watch it. I recently watched the movie Need
for Speed with my girlfriend, and we were in awe.

Journal 5: Reaped Benefits of Social

Networking Sites
In this age where technology and the Internet reign
supreme, its a part of our everyday life in checking our
social networking accounts for the latest news, for
uploading a new picture or video, or for posting an
important event in your life. Social networking sites have
really become a part of our to-do lists.
Well, my benefits are numerous in the usage of
these sites. I can easily access information on a wide
range of topics by just looking at some Facebook pages. I
can keep in touch with classmates and friends alike, and I

I was really excited before the showing not only

because the movie was about cars, but also because the
movie was an adaptation of a gaming franchise Need for
Speed; which I where the movie got its title from. The
games feature really fast and expensive cars racing in the
streets. The movie really portrayed the environment of the
game perfectly, with really fast cars racing and drifting
through heavy traffic. The movie also captured the thrill as
well as the danger of street racing. I honestly didnt know
who the actors and actresses were, but they wonderfully
played their characters. Aside from awesome cars and
races, the movie also has a wonderful plot that adds to the
movies quality. I would definitely watch this movie again.

Culture

and others. Its really awesome when you realize that no

matter how diverse our culture as a country is, these
individual differences can still blend with one another and
form the Philippines that we live in. I am really proud to be
a part of the experience of being in a cultural melting pot.

The Philippines is truly a diverse country. It is a

country composed of numerous islands and numerous
ethnical origins.
I came from Tarlac, and I was used to the
atmosphere of my province in the past. I admit that when I
went to Manila for the first time for my college studies, I
had a bit of a culture shock. As I got used to the hustle
and bustle of the metro, I realized that the population of
Manila is mostly composed of people coming from
different provinces. I have friends that come from
Batangas, Bataan, Pmpanga, Pangasinan, Leyte, Zambales
