In this project we are going to look at the

comparisons between two big countries
the USA and the UK, which seem to have
two of the most populated (and chaotic)
cities in all the world: London in the UK
and New York in the USA.
We are going to look first at the USA, with
its typical foods and its chaotic cities and
after we are going to look at the UK with
its different lifestyles and splendid natural
parks.
Lets start!

New York is always

considered a
metropolitan area. A
leading global city New
York extends his
powerful influence over
fashion and research
and international
affairs.
Located on the Atlantic
Coast of the
Northeasten United
States, New York is a
really chaotic city with

skyscrapers taller than
656 feet. Its symbol is
naturally the Statue of
Liberty (shown in the
photos) that was a gift

GEOGRAPHY

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northen Island

or simply UK is located off the northweastern coast of
continental Europe. The UK is a group of island which lie
in the North Atlantic and the North Sea.
The total land area of the UK is 245,000 kilometres
squared, within the islands of Great Britain.
The main mountain ranges in UK are the Cumbrian
Mountains, the Tess Exe line and the Pennines.

LONDON

London, the famous capital of England and of the UK, is

the largest metropolitan area in the UK.
London has an area of approximately 1706 km2, its
population is about 75 569,00 ( in 2007). Its most
famous structures are certainly the London Eye (shown in
the collage), Wembley Stadium, the Palace of Westiminster,
Buckingham Palace, where the Queen lives and lots of
others historical or social places.

AMERICAN ENGLISH

American English (AmE) is a sect of dialects of the English

language used mostly in the United States.
English is the most used language in the USA thought the
USA government has no official language
The use of English in America was inherited by British
Colonization in the 17th century.

FOOD in USA

The cuisine of USA derived

from an Europe colonization
(introduced by Europe) The
style of cookery expanded in the
19th and 20th century. This
typical food became a unique
regional character across the
world and the country.
The example of an American
typical place to eat is MC
Donalds, where people go and
eat big sandwiches (like on the
photo beside), it is quite cheap
and workers during their work
pause like to meet there and talk
with a nice sandwich.

At the top an Hamburger, down a Hotdog with

Ketchup.

TYPICAL FOOD in UK

UKs most famous dish, is surely fish and chips, a

dish which is bought in many shops, a takeaway
food, which consists of deep-fried fish and potatoes.
This dish has become very popular in England as it is
popular in areas colonized by the British in the 19th
century such as New Zeland, Canada and Australia
During evenings, at 17:30 english people always
drink a cup of tea, its a tradition called Tea Time
At the breakfast all English people usually eat eggs,
beans, roast beef, sausages, bacon a really energetic
breakfast, wich is not very usual to Italian people.

CULTURE AND LIFESTYLE in

USA

The typical American man is friendly, competitive and

spontaneous, in a few words LOUD and optimistic.
American culture has lots of traditions, ideals,
costumes, beliefs and values wich are different from theUE,
the USA uses the Dollar unlike in Europe where we use the
Euro, for example.
USA has a proud military tradition, unique American
sports and all its architecture has a strong sense of national
pride, the buildings they build are very high and they want
to beat every record, in height etc
It also includes some Native American (the old
inhabitants of America) culture.
The United States became one of the states wich codify
to its habitants the freedom of religion and respecting
each others beliefs. Mainly USA is a Christian and
Protestant country.
USA has some different nationals holidays unlike the EU
like Martin Luther King Day who Americans regard as
the patriarch of Civil Rights.

CULTURE AND LIFESTYLE in

UK

English Architecture, derives from Neolithic peoples,

and tribes which made up lots of stone circles around
England (Stonehenge). Their architecture derives from
the Anglo-Saxons , in Englands churches there are
many Anglo Saxon works and in some cases Roman
work.
English Art is derived mostly from Renaissance Artists,
for their typical landscape paintings. Hogarth
developed a new type of art in England the satirical
painting, which is still in use (an Anti-Pope art)
In the 2001census 37 million people professed
themselves Christians, but in the 16th century with the
English Reformation, most England became Anglican.
The UK normally speaks English, a language derived by
Germanic languages. Since now, English has become an
international language for business all around the world,
and happens to be the most known language in the world
before the Spanish language.
Every UK region has different types of speaking English,
there are lots of dialects like in Italy.
