TRANSGANDER LANGUAGE

INTRODUCTION
Language is something that is very interesting to study because the area of
language itself is very wide. Moreover the language is an important
communication tool for us to interact with people in the environment around of
us. Language interactions in the environment around us produce a lot of diversity
in the speaking style. So from the diversity of language style is often able to
identify a particular group classes. Identify the language style of a group can be
identified through specific words used in the group conversation, other than that
we can see through how the language was used in the group.
In Indonesia, a lot of languages are used by certain society that can
demonstrate the characteristic of the group. One of the groups are transgender
society. Usually in communicate with fellow transgender they use lot of words or
expressions that combined with the graceful body language. In the book The
Study of Language by George Yule specific words within a group or specific
community called Slang, which words or phrases are used in the daily group
conversation and can be a characteristic that distinguishes between those groups
and other groups. In addition, if we talk about the language in society
automatically we are also talking about sociolinguistics, described in the same
book that the sociolinguistic generally used for learning a language in a society.
Sociolinguistic also discusses how attitudes and perceptions are expressed how
in-group and out-groub are identified. In this research, will discuss how language
is used in the transgender society associated with sociolinguistic theory, and the
use of words or phrases that are used in particular in the society associated with
the theory of slang in the book The Study of Language.

DATA
In this mini-research, data collection using question and answer method with a
transgender. So I expect to find accurate facts accordance with the reality on the
field. The following data have been obtained in interviews. Questions and answers
list:
1) Do you belong to the group of organizations that have similar interests
wtih you (transgender organization)?
Answer: I do not belong to the transgender organization.
2) Do you use a special language to interact with your society?
Answer: Yes, I use special language when I am with my society.
3) What is the name of your group's language?
Answer: The name is Banci language.
4) Where is the origin of that language?
Answer: This language comes from the transgender society in salons.
5) Where did you learn the transgender language?
Answer: I learn through the society and the transgender dictionary.
6) Transgender dictionary? Is it sold or dictionaries just for personal?
Answer: Yes we have own dictionary, the dictionary it is sold at the public
and the price is expensive.
7) If you are in the neighborhood, do you still use the language of your
group?
Answer: No, I use transgender language only with the fellow group only.
8) Do you think your language can reflect your self-image?
Answer: Yes.
9) Does your group's social environment can give effect to the language that
you use today?
Answer: Yes, sometimes when I talked with people who exist outside of
my group that language often carried away.
10) Can you give examples of words or phrases with your language?

ANALYSIS
Based on data obtained from interviews indicate the existence of a special
language that is used by the transgender to communicate within the group. The
language comes from the interaction of transgender in the salons, than that the
transgender language has the name "Banci". So that the facts can support
sociolinguistic theory that suggested a link between the language with society.
Interactions that occur in a group actually has the ability to create their own
language and that language is used among themselves. If they are outside the
group, they do not use that language again.
Discuss the "Banci" language certainly cannot be separated by the use of
special words and phrases (Slang) that used by transgender."Banci" Language has
special vocabulary and phrases very much, In this mini research because of the
limited time I just give a few examples of specialized vocabulary and phrases
contained in the Banci language. From interviews I discovered a surprising fact
that the transgender language has its own dictionary that contains the transgender
language and vocabulary and the price is expansive. Automatically slang use
among transgender groups can provide characteristics and can be distinguished
from other groups. The difference can be recognized easily through Slang used
transgender. Today, most of the transgender slang words is becoming popular
among people. While connected with the theory of Slang in The study of
Language that is slang words or phrases that is used over daily by certain society
in order to distinguish themselves with other groups. So if linked back to the
interview results above can be explained among transgender has Slang which can
differentiate itself with other groups and is used more than every day in the group.
