Introduction
Pope Francis Village
The implementation of an In-City
relocation for 550 typhoon-affected
families of Super Typhoon- Yolanda and
the restoration of sources of income
and regained self-sufficiency of the
project beneficiaries

With the continued campaign to empower the project beneficiaries with skills and knowledge on
all aspects of the project, FRANCESCO closed the contracts with TESDA and DepEd to start the
first step to the construction process. The Pope Francis Building, a two-storey six classroom
building, will be built in Scandinavian Elementary School in Brgy 100, Diit, Tacloban City. TESDA
training already commenced with a total of 125 trainees from the Pope Francis Village
beneficiaries.
Preparations for the upcoming construction process such as procurement of materials, obtaining
of necessary permits, detailed planning and engineering works, coordination with DepEd
technical staff and school officials, soil testing, and any other pre-construction groundworks are
meticulously undertaken by the project team to finally put up the Pope Francis Building.

that this may pursue provided that
FRANCESCO will be able to produce the
required number of participants and their
qualifications. This will include SMAW,
Carpentry and Masonry.

Demo Farm

There are 5 farms identified


that serve as a demo farm for the
project beneficiaries namely:
1. Diit farm,
2. Yaokasin,
3. Cordero farm,
4. Mahusay farm and
5. Pretencio farm lot;

Objective 2

Savings Forum
On October 9, 2015, a savings
forum was conducted attended by 500
members of the community (both from
project beneficiaries and community
members). The negotiation is that the
social team will invest an amount equal to
the investment of the community member.

The savings forum wants to


elevate the savings of the community into
social enterprise where they will be taught
on how to use and increase their money
saved for a period of 6-8 months.

Cash-For-Work
Clearing /demarcation works
DSWD sponsored a cash-for-work program
that will include 600 participants from
community; 182 pax were assigned to work
at the Pope Francis Village; The program
will last for 15 days.
On the site, the markings are already
identified, so it will not hinder the project
beneficiaries from utilizing the area for
natural farming.

Objective 2

Bagsakan Center

The Bayanihan Food Garden was successfully


conducted with the objective to incorporate
sustainability from the community.

Two (2) bagsakan centers were


organized. The concept of bagsakan centers
is to gather all the harvested products of the
community from natural farming which in
turn will be bought in lump sum by assigned
individuals.
