Super Fairchild

News Notes
Anyone having a copy of the old

In the Asbury, Missouri area,
besides the fabulously performing
Fairchild 24, there is also an Aeronca C-3 with a 65 hp Continental,
and an old Aeronca K with a 6.5
hp. Lycoming. In addition, Ray

stuff around Asbury, Missouri.
It gets its greatly improved performance from a 225 hp. Jacobs
R - 755 - 9 engine which has

taken the place of the 165 hp.

In fact, the Fairchild has an almost complete powerplant from
the firewall forward, as taken
from a Cessna UC-78. The actual

the Jacobs ring. The cowling was
reduced two inches in diameter,
simply by cutting that much out
and relocating the fasteners. The

oil tank is mounted on the right


side of the engine compartment,
and was modified only by denting
it to allow the proper clearance for
the engine mount members. The
battery was moved all the way
aft to underneath the horizontal
stabilizer for better balance.

Ray Stits has done it again. This
time it's the two-place version
of the tri-cycle gear single place
"Flut-R-Bug", which is rapidly
gaining the same popularity as
the "Playboy".
