4 . Metacognitive knowledge on metals by,

Providing hints related to the concept

Phase 1 : Introduction to the class

Teacher presents a chart containing some hints related to
the concept.Teacher asking questions based on the hints and
eliciting ideas from students.Teacher given a chart to a student
then who shows that charts to other students for eliciting ideas.
Phase 2 : Developing of concept
Students developing ideas related to the concept

1.
Hints: malleable , making thin sheets

Metals can very well be beaten into thin sheets. This is called
maliability
2.
Hints:ductile, gold chain,used in ornaments

Metals can be drawn to make fine wires . This property is

known as ductility.

3.
Hints: Heat conducters, used to make utensils

Hints: makes sound, sonor- sound producing
The ability of metals to produce a particular sound when it is
tapped on a hard surface is termed as sonority.

Phase : 4 Re collects the ideas from students

Phase : 5 Conclusion
Metals have various properties like malleability ,
ductility , thermal conductivity , and sonority.

Review : 1. What is malleability?

2 . What are the properties of metals?
