America

The Spectacled Bear is the only


bear to live in South America. It
lives in the Andes Mountains from
Venezuela and Colombia through
Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

weigh up to 350 pounds. When
they stand they can be almost 6

It is black to brownish black
with a white circle around each
eye.
This bear has long, curved
claws for digging and tearing into
the soil or into insect mounds for
food.
It also has a large nose and
excellent sense of smell help to
locate food.
