Reading the book in the screen

The fault in our star is about a teenager named Hanzel Grace Lancaster.
She has been living for years sick of cancer and she depends of an oxygen
machine that has to take everywhere. Hanzel feels she cant have a normal life
and be a normal adolescent, she has a very negative view of life. But one day,
in her support group, she meets a guy that suffers of cancer too named
Augustus Waters. This boy would change Hanzels way of view and together
they would start a special adventure. The book was written by the famous
author John Green on 2012 and the movie came out on July 4 th of 2014. This
was an American production directed by Josh Boone. The movie was nominated
to the best young interpratate: Ansel Elgart as Augustus in the Critic Choice
Awards 2014. The book is a contribution for literature because it gives hope to
all of those teenagers who suffer a disease and feel that cant go on. Also it
helps to open the eyes of all those persons who dont get people that suffer, so
the book creates empathy with those who are through difficult situations.
I can say I have never seen a movie that follows the book as good as
The fault in our star does. Is very impressive how the characters represent so
good the emotions the reader feels when is reading the book; sadness,
happiness, hope, desperation, love, etc The actors were the real living
characters, especially Ansel Elgart, who acts as Augustus. His sense of humor,
his way of seeing things, his personality, the way he talks, hi crazy ideas, his
self-confidence, everything was the same as Gus in the story. Also I liked very
much the representation of the relationship between Hanzel and her mother.
She was the unconditional woman that was always by her side and never
stopped looking after her. In the scene when she told Hanzel that she was
taking some courses of social activity, the reaction of both, was just the same
as the book describes it, full of joy. Another important detail of the book that
appears in the movie is how the characters called the other ones; Just Hanzel
the way Augustus father call Hanzel, Augustus Waters was how Hanzel
named Augustus and Hanzel Grace the way Augustus called Hanzel. Finally,

the music chosen in the movie was perfect and matched perfectly with the
emotions of the scenes in where they used music.
Now, about the differences of the movie and the book, they were very
little and werent so important. They skipped some scenes that werent very
necessary to tell the whole story. The most important were there. The only
thing that they failed in I think, was in not putting personal details of Augustus
that were in the book. Details like the story with his ex-girlfriend, Caroline. In
the book, they told the reader how important Caroline was once to Augustus
and also told us what happened between them and hoy Caroline hurt him, but
still she was a person that he hadnt forgot. Also about Augustus family, the
movie dont show so much about them. They never talked about her sisters
and the scenes were Augustus parents appeared were very very short. In the
book they told us about important conversations they had between them and
also with Hanzel. In the book they were much more close to her and to
Augustus too. I think this is important because the person that is watching the
movie likes to know all about the characters, especially personal stuff ans
specially if is an important character as Augustus is.
However, living out this little critic, I think the adaptation of the movie to
the book was amazing. The movie follow all the dialogues, they look for little
details and put them in. The characterization of Gus, Hanzel and Isaac were
impressively equal to the book. There is no way someone can tell the movie is
disloyal to the book because there is nothing else I missed and I am a huge fan
of the book. Of course the book is always better than the movie, but in this
case I felt I was literally reading the book in the screen. It is very important to
emphasize the directors and the writers of the dialogue of the movie because
the work they did is not easy and there are very few movies as loyal as The
fault in our star was to the book that they are based on.
