How Producers Can Prevent E-Waste

Producers can reduce packaging on products, especially styrofoam
packaging, as that is not biodegradable or recyclable.
Producers can use other methods of packaging, such as cardboard.
Producers can establish e-waste treatment facilities, such as hewlettpackard in South Africa, and provide ways to reuse/sell electronic parts or
equipment, while also creating jobs.

What Does Our Government Currently

Do To Enforce This?
In British Columbia, an Electronic waste recycling program was started in
2007, to shift responsibility for electronic end-of-life management to the
producers.
Use a combination of waste collection, diversion and recycling measures
to keep e-waste out of landfills.
Canada has regulations called the Export and Import of Hazardous Waste
and Hazardous Recyclable Material Regulations. This keeps Canadas
mess in Canada forcing citizens to deal with the problem they created. It
also stops e-waste from being transported to recycling centres in third
world countries that do not have the means for proper handling of
hazardous material.
