MANUAL

Introduction

WAKEEGE SURRVIVAL GUIDE | 3/24/2010

If you are reading this manual, it is probable that you are trying to learn what it takes to survive. This
manual will outline what supplies you will need, what you will need to do to survive and a detailed list of
things to avoid.

Treat this manual like the Bible, the Quran or Torah because without it, it is unlikely you will know what
it takes to survive. It is written by people who are experienced and have successfully survived on an
uninhabited island after a plane crash.

Here is a rule of thumb which you should always keep in mind:

1. Humans cannot survive more than three hours exposed to extremely low temperatures.
2. Humans cannot survive more than 3 days without water.
3. Humans cannot survive more than three weeks without food.

So first things first, let’s talk about the supplies you will need on your journey of survival.

Supplies Needed
This section will outline what supplies are absolutely
NEEDED to survive, not what supplies are wanted or you
would like to have.

Most importantly, you need some sort of fire starter. This

can be anything for a magnifying glass to a match to a
lighter. A fire is the most essential part of survival; it
provides heat, warmth, security and when necessary can
act as a signal to alert others.

You will also need a knife. A sharp pocket knife will do. If
you run out of food and are planning to hunt for more,
using the knife to sharpen a thick wooden branch to use as
a spear will be perfect.

A first-aid kit is also very essential. Wounds and sickness can easily

cause death if not taken care of quickly and without some sort of first-
aid, you will die.

Containers can come in very handy during times of survival. They can
be used to carry water, food and many other things which you do not
want lying around on the ground for any animal to take in the
darkness of the night.

Extra food is also a necessity. Many times, you will not be able to find
food and you will sometimes be unable to hunt. The extra food will aid
you in this time and provide you with something to eat and live
another day.

Correct clothing. If you are attempting to survive somewhere in Alaska

with nothing but a short sleeves shirt and a pair of shorts, you will find
that you will not be successful. Wear clothing accordingly and it will
aid you greatly.

A compass can come in very handy also. If you are lucky enough to
know where you are, you can use the compass to find your way back.

Steps to take

WAKEEGE SURRVIVAL GUIDE | 3/24/2010

Depending on how many people are with you, surviving can be easy, or very hard. If you are alone then
follow what is below. If you are with a small group, skip the alone guide and go to the one with the
group.

If you are alone:

1. Get a fire started. You will need it for the entirety of your time and without it, there is a slim
chance you will survive. Also, using its smoke as a signal can be critical for rescue.
2. Set up a sort of shelter using anything and everything around you. Use fallen branches and
create a skeleton for the shelter. Then, use anything you can find to cover it up. Place it near the
fire and make sure water will not leak through it if it begins to rain
3. Know your surroundings. Walk around where you are and look for places where food or fresh
water is. The earlier you have this information, the better.
4. If you have some food already with you, eat it for the first day but don’t eat all of it. Leave a fair
amount of it for emergencies.
5. If you don’t have any food, gather food from wherever you can. If you are near a large body of
water, you can sharpen a branch to use as a spear and go fishing. Use any means necessary, and
gather some food for your first night.
6. The next day, if you have yet to find fresh water, do so and once you have found it, collect it in
containers and bring it back to your camp. If you do not have containers, improvise and use
things around you to carry it back.
7. Finally, you must enter into a daily routine in which you relight the fire in the morning, collect
food and water, eat/drink, sleep and then repeat.
8. If you eventually run out of ways to light your fire, and hopefully you will not, if possible find
yourself some natural flint with steel and tinder and rub the two to produce sparks and in the
end, a fire

If you are with a group

1. Get a fire started. You will need it for the entirety of your time and without it, there is a slim
chance you or your group will survive. Also, using its smoke as a signal can be critical for rescue.
2. Make shelters with whatever materials you can find around you for everyone. If possible, make
the shelters fairly large enough so that they can accommodate multiple people in them easily.
Use fallen branches and create a skeleton for the shelter. Then, use anything you can find to
cover it up. Place it near the fire and make sure water will not leak through it if it begins to rain

3. Hold a small meeting and assign someone as the leader.

WAKEEGE SURRVIVAL GUIDE | 3/24/2010

4. Once the leader has been chosen, everyone should explore their surroundings to find where
food and water might be
5. Next, the leader should assign all the people with tasks they will carry out each day such as
gathering water or food and working on the shelter
6. It is likely that you will not finish the shelters in just one day so make it a continuous project
which a specific set of people will work on daily
7. Whenever food is gathered, save some and put it in a container for emergency purposes only
8. If your group eventually runs out of ways to light your fire, and hopefully you will not, if possible
find yourself some natural flint with steel and tinder and rub the two to produce sparks and in
the end, a fire
9. Finally, continue to do you tasks and enter a sort of daily routine

Things to Avoid
There are many things to avoid when you are trying to survive alone or with a group.

Firstly, you want to avoid injuries at all cost. Even small injuries can lead to your death if not dealt with
immediately.

You want to make sure you are never dehydrated. Dehydration can be extremely deadly and lead to
lethargy, headaches, dizziness, confusion, and eventually death.

If you are relying on plants and such for food, know the difference between a poisonous plant and a safe
plant. There have been many cases where people have died because they mistook a plant which is
poisonous for one that is safe to eat

Stress should also be avoided. Stress can lead to:

 Difficulty making decisions.

 Angry outbursts.

 Forgetfulness.

 Low energy level.

 Constant worrying.

 Propensity for mistakes.

 Thoughts about death or suicide.

 Trouble getting along with others.

 Withdrawing from others.

 Hiding from responsibilities.

 Carelessness.

Also, dangerous animals should be avoided at all costs. Animals including:

 Scorpions

 Spiders

 Centipedes and Millipedes (only some are poisonous)

 Bees, Wasps and Hornets

 Ticks

 Snakes

 Dangerous lizards

 Electric eels

 Piranhas

 Etc.

Should all be avoided at all costs.

Conclusion
Surviving can be very difficult if one is not prepared. Conversely, if one is fully prepared and knows what
is required to survive, it becomes nothing but instinct. Just remember the following, and surviving
shouldn’t be too big of a problem.
