As root user check the status of the processes, type:

cd /alcatel/var/export/pub/MS/pmon

cat PMON_state.html | grep OMC

Result: The processes status must be stopped

Result should be stopped - Critical alarm not only stopped

Issue was solved by copying DVD1 iso image to alcatel/iso but DVD2 and DVD3
installation have failed with server profile not found

Manual installation for the aux servers was done instead

I understood that few ARs were raised for this

handling issue related to one process that was not stopped properly.

Therefore, I need couple of clarifications from the AR. It's not explained
in AR.

->-> How they stopped processes? Ideally, they should follow below script
[root@astral]# cd /alcatel/MS/MS_PMON/scripts/startstop

[root@astral]# ./stop_omc

-> As per NPO Upgrade procedure we need to follow some steps/pre-checks, So


they
followed same sequence or not? Because I am seeing lot of problems they
faced
during NPO Upgrade procedure
Here is the NPO Upgrade procedure:

This alert provides a list of pre-checks that must be executed prior to any
NPO
upgrade. There are 2 alerts:

Did you notice the owner of the process before killing it? If it was root or
other
owner, script may not able to close it.

Let us know, how did you close it. was it kill -9 option? From which user it
was
killed?

This was my suspect.

Someone might have started original process from root

permission. During upgrade, if the script is not started with root


permission, it
would not stopped.

Since we have created CR, let us sync with NPO developer. Let us do some
enhancement to print out if permission is mismatch.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION : "./stop_omc" script used to stop all the processes
from the
main server.
It was supposed to stop all processes on the NPO main and on the AUX server.
It
did not stop the processes on the AUX server.
IMPACT DESCRIPTION : The script did not address remotely to stop AUX WCT
server
processes. The timing was too long. It has been decided to manually stop to
avoid
delaying upgrade planning
FREQUENCY :
WORKAROUND IF ANY : manually stop CTN lola processes from the AUX server
itself
ROOT CAUSE : An CR DCTPD01534775 is open but no logs have been collected
during
the issue. A RCA cannot be provided in such case.
SOLUTION : no delivery
DELIVERY : None
