Entry Requirements for API Examinations
You must be employed by or under contract to an authorized inspection agency or owner/ user agency as defined in
API 653/ API 510/ API 570
You must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:

BS in engineering or technology, with minimum of 1 years experience and skills in supervision or


performance of inspection, activities of above ground storage tanks as described in API
Two- year degree or certificate in engineering or technology, with minimum of two years experience
and skills in design, repair, construction, operation or inspection of above ground storage tanks, of
which 1 year must be in supervision or performance of inspection activities as described in API
High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years experience and have the same skills as
listed in item 2.
Have 5 or more years experience and same skills as listed in item 2.

ASNT NDT Level-I & II Training Course


Course Description
This course gives a broad knowledge about In-Service inspection of pressure vessels and
prepares students for the NDT (PT, MT, UT, RT)Exam. The course is an intensive 208 hrs
(total). Course with special emphasis on the use of the related codes and calculations.

Course Objectives:
To understand factors which influence the quality of fusion welds in steels
To recognize characteristics of commonly used welding processes in relation to quality control
To interpret drawing instructions and symbols to ensure that specifications are met
To set up and report on inspection of welds, macro sections and other mechanical tests
To assess and report on welds to acceptance levels
To confirm that incoming material meets stipulated requirements and recognize the effects on weld

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Welding Inspector for a minimum of 3 years with experience related to the duties and responsibilities
listed in Clause 1.2.2 of CSWIP document WI-6-92, under qualified supervision, independently verified OR
Certified Visual Welding Inspector (Level 1) for a minimum of 2 years with job responsibilities in the areas
listed in 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 of CSWIP document WI-6-92 OR Welding Instructor or Welding
Foreman/Supervisor for a minimum of 5 years
