Myths, Heroes, and Charisma Explained

This document discusses myths, heroes, and charismatic people who make the world better. It explains that myths are stories that may or may not be true but have symbolic power, and heroes can be superheroes, main characters, or ordinary people who do brave acts. It gives examples of charismatic leaders like Gandhi, Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., and singers like Bob Dylan and John Lennon who used their platforms to spread messages of peace and social change. The document concludes by discussing a photo of Tank Man during the Tiananmen Square protests that illustrates the contrast between a charismatic individual standing up to authority alone versus ordinary people running away.

Notion danglais 2

We will talk about myths and hereos, first i will explain you
this notion.
Well a myth is a story that may or may not be true, these
stories have a great symbolic power thats why some myths are
very old ! As for a hero, it can be lots of kinds of persons, it can
be a man with superpower( a superhero), it can be the main
character of a novel and it may also be somebody like you and
me who did heroic acts or helped to make the world better
thanks to his bravery.
we will talk about that more precisely answering the following
issue : How come some people are so charismatic that they can
make the world better ?
Sometimes people become charismatic by their
extraordinary soul, in fact, often, these sort of persons knew
something bad in their life and became able to recycle their
anger to positive energy, in such a way that this anger fuels
their action. I join Sydney Poitiers point of view we studied.
Sidney Poitier is a famous actor, the first black person who won
an academy award of best actor. He experienced discrimination
during his youth when he arrived in USA . In 2000 he published
a book the measure of a man in which he talked about this
kind of people, he took for instance the case of Gandhi and
Mandela. he explains that not only they use their anger to
positive energy to fuel their actions, but they also managed to
forgive and respect their enemies, in fact, they hated their
ideas, but not the human being they are !
Madela, Ghandi even martin kuther king used politicals
movements thanks to their intelligencence, their fearlessness to
make the world better but there is an other type of people also
charismatic who try to float ideas of peace and respect, we
dont think about, which are singers !
Indeed, singers by a different way helped to make the world
better, by their engaged songs.. cause people make some
reflections concerning subjects whose songs talk about. as Bob
dylan fans did with his song The times they are changing in
1960. This song denounced the Vietnam war and racism, he
was quickly adopted by millions of anti war campaigners and
became rallying cry of a generation. Vietnam War was

condemned too during Woodstock, where a lot of people

realized that it was time to change ! Imagine of John Lennon
is another example as engaged songs which try to make the
world better, to change minds.

Finally I will present you my personal document, I chose a

picture of tank man or the man of Tiananmen You must
know the picture took from a hotel roof, but I choose another
one, this picture was taken by Terril Jones, one day after the
repression of democratic movement of the third and fourth of
june 1989. ( little precision, this picture was published in 2009
so 20years after the event cause Terril Jones thank the other
picture was better) As you can see the picture was taken from
the ground, we can catch sight of Tank Man in the background
on the leftside, and the impressive and daunting tank raw
arriving in front of him, always in the background but on the
rightside. Whats particular on this picture is that we can see on
the foreground two persons (students I guess cause the
repression was against students) running away, and tank man
behind them, Alone, Unmoving in front of the tank raw. I think
this image represents perfectly the contrast between
charismatic persons and lambda [Link] charismatic
is rare but exists and can be a person who lives like you and
me, who according to circonstances decide to share
courageously his opinion towards something, as this picture
showing.
I think charismatic people CAN do what everybody CANT
do, like we saw: recycle his anger, forgive his enemies, share his
engaged opinions to the world. Lambda people admire these
persons and then follow them ! All this actions although
differents lead to the same goal
A better world.
