Structural system

Pneumatic Structure
Tensioned fabric structure
Shell structure
Cable structure
Folded structure

Structural system as mentioned above is special structures and need detail design
and analysis as per the requirements, the span and height of the structure is totally
depends on the type of the structure and purpose of it.
Following are the type of building can be built by using these structural systems.
1) Stadium
2) Auditorium
3) Hangers
4) Ware houses
5) Parking areas
6) Exhibition Centre
Etc.
Following Information is collected form the internet.
Pneumatic structures
Membrane structure that is stabilized by the pressure of compressed air.
Air-supported structures are supported by internal air pressure.
A network of cables stiffens the fabric, and the assembly is supported by a rigid ring at the edge.
The air pressure within this bubble is increased slightly above normal atmospheric pressure and
maintained by compressors or fans.

As per Prof. Ing. Josef Machacek, DrSc. Presentation (See attached PDF)

Pneumatic structure constructed like Stadium in Vancouver (1983) Dimension 232 x

190 m & Big Egg Tokio (1988) span 201 m.

Tension Fabric structure

Membrane structure, encompassing both the tensioned fabric and the supporting
structure, can span from 3 to 20 meters to spans more than 200 meters.
As per Prof. Ing. Josef Machacek, DrSc. Presentation (see attached PDF)
Tension fabric structures constructed in Moscow (Ellipse is 244 x 183 m)
Millennium dome (O2 Arena) has become a landmark for London. The textile dome
has a diameter of over 100m and was engineered by Buro happold.

Shell structure
As per Prof. Ing. Josef Machacek, DrSc. Presentation (See attached PDF)
Shell structure constructed like Prague fairground stadium (1962) span = 64.
Stadium in Detroit (1979) span 266 m.

Cable structures
As per Prof. Ing. Josef Machacek, DrSc. Presentation (See attached PDF)
Olympic stadium in Seul, 1988 (textile covering) span = 250 m.
USA pavilion in Brussels, EXP 1958 span =104 m.
Auditorium of Utica (USA) university span=75 m
Ice stadium in Johannesburg (Stockholm) = 82.8 m
Folded structure
As per S. ARONI (university of Melbourne) he wrote in his book Folded Plate Roofs
(part of the book attached).
Folded plates seems to have been in a warehouse roof in sanFrancisco, the roof
covered a free area of about 44 ft x 70 ft. and was supported by 4 columns at the
corners.

Folded Plate roofs, due to their rigidity and strength, have been used to
considerable advantage in situation where large areas need covering, free of
internal columns and other obstructions.
Example of such uses include an auditorium dome about 100 ft in diameter, bowling
alley 34000sq. ft unobstructed area, 120 ft span and 286 ft long.
